I’m hosting a New Years Eve party and I’m really looking forward to it.
If you are, shall we chat about it?

Yep, a pizza party for one (me)! 🥳

Mydogisagentleman · 30/12/2025 20:31

Nope, I'll be taking the dog to the beach, once I get home from work. home by 6 for a nice stew and a glass of something red.
Bed by 9, up at 5.30 ready for work

Try not to spread joy on mumsnet OP

DilemmaDelilah · 30/12/2025 20:33

I'm not doing anything tomorrow night, but I'm having family round on Saturday, does that count?

GiddyRobin · 30/12/2025 20:35

I am! We're in Norway for the festive period (DH is Norwegian, we currently live between the UK and here) so having the in-laws and friends around. Children will all be involved and have lots of fun. We're doing a buffet, but everyone will bring a dish. We live remotely and the whole village gets involved, so we'll be joining the fireworks and bonfire, too!

whatsit84 · 30/12/2025 20:37

Yes, just our family of 4 and 2 other families. This is the 4th year we’ve done it and it’s good fun! Just doing easy food. How about you OP?

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 30/12/2025 20:38

No we hosted a party mid December. We’re out at the village sports club for their NYE event. Thankfully kids allowed.

Guidanceplease20 · 30/12/2025 20:38

No. Just back from a long Christmas break. Got a really awful bug. Husband is working tomorrow until 6pm too.

I have everything in to make a stew. Log fire.

If I need an early night to rest I will. If I stay up - we have cheese and biscuits and some nice drinks in.

No party. We will see/be woken by the town fireworks as we live on a valley side and the high ones break at our bedroom height, so we wont avoid them.

Upthenorth · 30/12/2025 20:41

I was sure this would be about greedy guests eating all the nibbles.

We are off to someone else’s as they are hosting, can’t wait!

Hephzibah64 · 30/12/2025 21:34

Oops I forgot this is mn where people don’t answer the door let alone throw a party😀
Im doing a 1970s themed party (optional fancy dress) volovants, cheese and pineapple hedgehog, devilled eggs and a glass of cream sherry or babysham (other drinks will be available 😀)
I have a retro maxi dress and I’ve been Googling 70s make up, looks like blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick were all the rage😀
Should be around 25 people mix of family and friends.
I’m working till 3 so beginning to slightly panic about the prep!

Sounds great!

I’ll be in bed by 10 I reckon. Small autistic children and tiny house make parties tricky.

MAYBE next year, if our move works out.

TwillTrousers · 30/12/2025 21:37

I live in a weird world where I don’t really know anyone who has NY parties, even when I was young. I went to one in my early 20s and it was disaster and boring.
My BIL did have one for YEARS. He would then ring and complain that people would leave as it was the only time they could get taxis/had to get back for babysitters.

Chunxia · 30/12/2025 21:43

If I had enough friends I’d have a party! But as it happens I don’t, so it’ll just be me and DH and we will probably go to bed early like we do most years 😅. Have a lovely party op

Minniliscious · 30/12/2025 21:57

No party but will be celebrating. Going for a nice lunch and cocktails with friends at 3pm then back home to watch the fireworks on telly with Hubby and DS.

Bluelajay · 30/12/2025 22:04

Yes I am! With 4 other families who also have young children. Doing nibbles, nice cheese boards etc. Starting after lunch but will likely finish around 9 as the children are all young, but we’ll see! Doubt anyone will make midnight!

SliceofTosst · 30/12/2025 22:05

Not doing anything but your party sounds fab.

Will there be some 70s tunes?

billiongulls · 30/12/2025 22:07

I hope you have a lovely party! I'll be in bed by 10, but I'm very happy that others have a lot of fun.

Lennonjingles · 30/12/2025 22:12

We’ve always had a NYE party, but over the years numbers have gone down to 3 family groups totalling 12, when we used to have 20. This year one couple said could we change this year as they live about an hour away and want a change from getting home after 3am. So we were happy to go to theirs. Guess what they are ill and have texted this evening. Will be ringing around in the morning to see what’s happening.

I’ve just done a playlist. Lots of Abba, Tom Jones, Bee Gees and a bit of funk and punk😀

No def no party over here. We never do NYE so our tradition is cosy up with a film and a take away and bed at normal time. I like the idea of a fresh new year, but don’t see the appeal in partying and staying up late for no real reason. We’ve got small kids, we’re all shattered from a mental busy Xmas. Cosy night in is where it’s at! Even when I was younger and more fun I hated NYE for the feeling of forced fun, the bars all sold tickets so you couldn’t bar hop like we usually would and prices hiked up. All felt a bit false!

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 30/12/2025 22:20

Our neighbours have invited us round to theirs.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 30/12/2025 22:21

I'm not one of the people you mock for never opening the door but can't think of anything I wish to do less than attend a party tomorrow night. It'll be pjs, prosecco, sofa and a takeaway in my house. And I can't wait!

I wish you a great party and a Happy New Year though OP.
