Recommendations for a decent flask/coffee cup please

Hi, I am after recommendations for a decent flask/coffee cup which will keep a hot drink hot. Made a coffee at home, warmed flask up with boiling water, heated extra milk in microwave...
and just drank a tepid milky coffee less than 2hrs later.
I read Contigo cups are highly recommended on here. Ideally a 250ml/ slim 'handbag' size but realise more likely to be 450/500ml size. Trying to save costs & environment but it seems an endless search. Just read the thread about 'people over 60 wanting a coffee hotter than the sun' - seems I fall in that category. Many thanks

I used to take coffee to work in a contigo flask/travel mug. Stayed hot for a good 4hrs. Just checked the Contigo website & they have some flasks at 300ml.

Shinyandnew1 · 29/12/2025 14:01

Contigo is the one we have-they do a 300ml.

I hate the Contigo ones, you drink from a pool rather than a hole if that makes sense, you can't cover it with your mouth so difficult if moving or on public transport.

Its hard to find good ones with a hole and flip top now. My favourite by far is the Joseph Joseph Sipp but it's not properly thermal. I still use it though, I put the cup into a bubble wrap envelope in my bag then it stays hot for hours.

My other one is a cheap one from amazon but its good for 2-3 hours.

The Yeti rambler range is excellent. Look for the flask with the hotshot lid.

A different style of flask is Zojirushi. I have a pair of them. The flask pre-heated keeps hot water very hot for 24 hours. I use one flask for hot water and then the other one for keeping milk cold, and then make my cup of tea in a Yeti cup.

My problem with my Zojirushi flask and Yeti cup setup is my tea is hotter than the sun and takes forever to cool down! I love them though and love being self-sufficient for hot drinks when travelling in the car or on the train.

I agree with Contigo being very good. I’ve had mine for years (quite fancy a new colour now!)

There are different models around though as mine doesn’t pool like @ChristmasHug has experienced.

I have a contigo too. Feel safer with the auto seal than the snap seal but I haven’t tried the snap so it could be unjustified. My DD has had a few and she prefers the contigo too.

GameofPhones · 29/12/2025 14:36

I have a couple of Contigos which I like (coloured ones are often on sale). The secret with them is to fill with already very hot liquid. Problem is that when you come to drink from them, the liquid is too hot. Have a cup or something to pour your drink into.

I used Zojirushi Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug. Coffee stays hot for ages. It double locks so you can throw into bag and once you have closed it properly you do not have to worry about it leaking.

mindutopia · 29/12/2025 15:35

Yeti

I have a flask and a lidded mug. The flask will keep drinks hot for a good 12 hours. I’ve opened it after 24 hours before and it’s still been warm.

I prefer the mug for actual drinking out of, but it probably only keeps things warm for like an hour or two.

Auto seal contigo

I like a slimmer cup I have the contigo luxe in stainless steel so it can go in the dishwasher. I have the 350ml version DH had 500ml. They are completely leak proof and keep coffee hot for hours. Last time I took mine to work I left it in the car, came out 8 hours later and drank a hot coffee!

Stanley. The small hot drink version, 300ml I think.
I have the old version but it’s about 5-6 years old and it’s going strong, use at least several days a week. I think officially it’s 3hrs hot for the small one but it’s possible to go 4-5hrs easily if you pre heat.

I have a contigo which I like and has been a faithful friend to me for about 6 years now. DH got me the Stanley flask for Christmas (not the giant thing, it holds around 350ml) I’ve used it a couple of times and really like it, it’s a nice lilac colour, doesn’t leak, keeps drinks hot hot and is about the size I’d make a drink in a normal sized mug.

Twasasurprise · 29/12/2025 15:48

My Stanley Aerolight keeps my tea so much hotter than my Contigo. I tend to make a large tea to sip from over several hours rather than make a hot drink to have later.

Contigo is fine for drinking it all in one go hours later, but I find the drink goes cold quite quickly when I drink it over a longer period and it's no longer a full cup.

My Stanley Aerolight, in contrast, stays hot to the last drop. I have the large 600ml one, but thinking about getting a smaller one too.

I’ve got a Thermos drinks flask. It’s completely leakproof and keeps hot drinks hot for up to eight hours:

It’s not ‘cool’ or ‘on trend’ but it does the job brilliantly.

I love mine - I even bought a spare in case of loss!

I use the thermos drinks flask too and think it’s fab. I think it’s ‘cool’ though

WhatsTheEffingPoint · 29/12/2025 18:47

I used to use Primus as they were really good at keeping drinks warm for a long period of time. I have recently changed over to Yeti and they out do the primus.

strongermummy · 29/12/2025 18:49

Klean kanteen. Amazing. Keeps coffee hot for hours. Highly recommend. Have used them for years. For coffee flasks and water bottles.

WinterWooliesBaa · 29/12/2025 18:56

Too many choices 🙄🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

ShoesSnooze · 29/12/2025 18:58

If you drink coffee or tea from any of these, do you put milk in as well?
I have a thermos flask which keeps the drink hot for many hours but if I add milk then after a few hours it starts to smell a bit and requires a deep clean at the end of the day.

Anyone else experience this?
