Recommendations for a decent flask/coffee cup please

Hi, I am after recommendations for a decent flask/coffee cup which will keep a hot drink hot. Made a coffee at home, warmed flask up with boiling water, heated extra milk in microwave...
and just drank a tepid milky coffee less than 2hrs later.
I read Contigo cups are highly recommended on here. Ideally a 250ml/ slim 'handbag' size but realise more likely to be 450/500ml size. Trying to save costs & environment but it seems an endless search. Just read the thread about 'people over 60 wanting a coffee hotter than the sun' - seems I fall in that category. Many thanks

@ShoesSnooze - mine doesn’t smell with milk added. It comes clean easily too.

Bog standard Thermos cup. It's the only one where a black coffee made at 7am needs to be left open for 5-10 minutes to make it drinkable between 1 and 4pm.

I have a bowdum mug which is amazing for keeping it hot and has lasted me years so far. The lid is pretty good, technically could chuck it in your bag but not sure if trust mine any more, it dribbles a bit.
I have an ion 8 water bottle and absolutely love it, it has a triple lock system and has never leaked. I see they also have a travel mug, so though I haven't tested it's insulation abilities, I'm tempted just for the lid.

Stanley! Love mine, it’s the coffee travel cup one, lovely to drink out of.

I use the Stanley aerolight too. Comes in a great range of colours and drinks stay hot, not lukewarm. I have the 0.47l version and love it!

I am all flasked/cupped out (got a YETI for Xmas) however the thread title captured my attention because that’s me! I have tried so many cups etc I thought my mouth had grown a Teflon coating🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m pleased to hear this is a ‘thing’ and I’m not alone.

Chilly bottle

I bought this from Amazon and it’s really good. Still burnt my tongue on tea a few hours later! Also knocked it over in the car and no leaks! https://amzn.eu/d/hhJ8LU8

It’s so nice having decent tea cup.
I don’t really use flask as that’s too big daily, but the 350ml Stanley is a handy proper tea size without being massive.
Im not a coffee drinker so only tea goes in, but with milk is fine.

I do have the Stanley descaling cleaner tablets to fully clean it every few months, and use just hot soapy water in between.

It’s worth investing as a tea or coffee is pretty much £4-5 now. So if you buy one daily you have covered costs easily after a week even if pricier brand. Plus if you like to walk where little shops exist its much more convenient.

Tefal (sometimes branded Emsa) with the push button in the lid. Piping hot for hours and leakproof.

Yeti is nearly as good.

SleepyLondoner · 08/07/2026 06:24

Have you tried the Ember mug? I got one last year and it's been a game changer for me — keeps coffee at exactly the right temp for hours, none of that lukewarm-after-an-hour nonsense. Not cheap but honestly worth it if you're someone who takes ages to finish a brew. Also second the Contigo recommendation, those things are bulletproof for keeping drinks hot.

Samewrinklesnewname · 08/07/2026 06:28

I’m using my Connor right now and would recommend it.
however the paint hasnt stood up well to the dishwasher so it’s looking VERY scabby. Hopefully it won’t be too long till all the paints off and it’s just stainless steel!

Yeti rambler with the commuter/hot shot lid or whatever they call it these days if you want to put it in your bag leak free.

I can make a coffee at 6am, forget to take it to work (frequently!) and its still very drinkable when I get home at 6pm.

The entire Yeti drinkware range is great, I have several cups and bottles of varying sizes. The kids use them too foe school and so far they've been indestructible. Dishwasher friendly too.

bloodredfeaturewall · 08/07/2026 06:36

emsa

Yeti cup 100%

i bought a chili cup but they dont go in the dishwasher + they are so narrow, i cannot fit my hand into it to clean it (would need a brush). Anyway i have no tome for things that are not dishwasher proof

someone recommended a Yeti cup. So happy with my purchase! Prrfect cup
