Anyone heading to the supermarket at silly o'clock?

This was my original plan but luckily I had a moment of clarity yesterday, after a doctor's appointment (as I was in the locality anyway), I did all the shopping then. It was relatively quiet at 3pm!

Good luck and I hope you get everything you want and need.
Huge thanks to all the supermarket and other retail workers who have been doing a sterling job keeping the shelves stocked and till queues moving!

Was it busy @JingleMyBellsChristmasSmells ?

I've been doing the cleaning in spates.
Just herded up a big pile of books ready to take upstairs and some presents to bag up.

Yes because Ocado didn’t deliver my nut roast yesterday for my niece and a scan of supermarkets last night revealed a national shortage….😬😂

Getting up in 10 mins to try again in the hope of overnight deliveries…

Otherwise I’m buying a bag of mixed nuts….

M&S do a really nice frozen butternut squash, almond, and pecan roast - they had loads in the freezer at my local M&S yesterday.

Nope! Our food shop arrived on Monday - no substitutions so don’t need to go anywhere today!

My husband went with my sister to pick up the M&S collection food at 8 today , the Ocado order came earlier in the week . I wandered to Tesco yesterday around midday and it was fairly quiet .

@TheNightingalesStarling Have you been given a time slot yet?
Hope your order is complete!

I'm just lazing around at the minute, waiting for the notification that my C&C order is in the store.
I might walk into town but @chalkyc2 says it's cold out there!
It's bright and sunny but I can hear the wind picking up.

It was supposed to be 9-9.30.
I was in the car park at 8.50 (20min drive, so couldn't wait at home). Got confirmation was ready at 9 15 so move to pick up area. Got my shopping at 9.40

All that was missing was one sort of crisps.

Janeaustenrocks · 24/12/2025 10:32

I got everything so I don't have to go anywhere. Woke up and son (adult) has eaten half a tub of silver decorating balls from the cupboard. Ffs why?????

GreatUserName · 24/12/2025 13:30

I went into town to pick up my C&C, fully expecting the worst traffic wise.
It was eerily quiet! Don't know if it's the calm before the storm for people who are planning to go in later for bargains or if everyone is just done!

We went to the big Sainsbury’s around 1pm and it was quieter than a normal Saturday and only thing lacking in terms of stock was a round lettuce which wasn’t a need just a want

Cherrysoup · 24/12/2025 16:21

I went last night for odds and ends I’d forgotten. It was as busy as a normal Saturday afternoon. I then had to go again this morning by about 9, it was getting busy.

I had a blood test appointment at 8.55 this morning. I went out at 7.40 and went to Marks to get my cats fav tuna and a few bits. Not many people there I thought they would be queuing for their turkey orders but no. Doubled back to my GPs to pick up blood test form and get my prescription from the chemist in there. Noone about. Went to Asdas, just five minutes from GPs. Exchanged a baby's gift I brought for a girl, but the baby was a boy and I was seeing the parents on Boxing day. Got a few bits in Asda then popped across the road to the Hospital ( which they are closing down) for my blood test. I was home by 9.30. So smug. Watched the new Dracula film at home and am now ready for tomorrow. Sometimes stuff just falls into place, but very rarely, I think I got everything done because noone was about and everything was in walking distance.
Happy Christmas.
