How many mince pies do you make/buy each year?

Just curious? I have made 60 mince pies in the last 2 weeks and all have gone!

Family of 5 and being offered to the odd guest that pops in.

Zero. I cannot stand them!

Not sure on numbers, but I usually make 8lb of mincemeat each year.

I usually get through it by the end of January 😁 I currently have the next batch of pastry chilling in the fridge for this afternoon...!

Same! I find it funny, we had a Christmas quiz in work and one if the questions was how many mince pies are eaten on average per person over the festive period.

The answer was something like 27 which I already found insane (I love a snack as much as the next person but it's not like you'd ever eat 27 doughnuts over the space of a week or two, or even a month!) But then loads of people were saying that's nothing and they'd eat far more - which makes sense to balance out people like us who don't eat them at all.

I can't think of anything I like that much (of an equivalent size, not like maltesers!) that I'd eat 27 of and not be sick of them!

Slightly less than my 60 and counting then!

That is alot of mincemeat!

I’ve only made about 110 this year. I take them to work and we eat them at home. The most I’ve ever made was about 600 - I used to sell them to friends and family.
I don’t buy them, ever.

72 of which husband and I have eaten about 50.
They are very small.

Pleased to hear we are not the only household eating them by the bucketload.

But they have been on sale since the day after Easter when the supermarket festive period starts.

So, less than one a week.

Gosh that’s a lot! Bought a token 6 pack just to be Christmassy, they might go, might not. If they go it’s probably DS stealing them, naughty! Sugar obsessed.

(Chocolate on the other hand… we’ve already cracked open the quality streets and have 3 more tubs thanks to my mum. I’m on MJ but chocolate is still a problem and I could easily scoff the lot!)

I’ve bought 12 over the last couple of weeks but I also made a mincemeat tart which I cut up and froze to have with custard. I have eaten two pieces. I love all such things, current slice, Christmas pudding, Eccles cakes, Christmas cake. At any time of the year.

My OH on the other hand loves them and has a pack of six.

Four adults here. I start buying them at the start of December as we all like them. I usually buy a couple of boxes then replace as needed. Probably get through about 8 boxes (of six). Last year they were selling them for 10p a box after Christmas but we try to control ourselves after Christmas. 😇

My mum has made 96. At work this week, someone said (when we were doing a shop for food for the wards working over Christmas), oh just get a couple of token boxes of mince pies because nobody really eats them and I was like ‘what???’ 🤣

I brought 6. I ate 6. I live alone.

2 packets of Waitrose brown butter and cognac ones- I’m not a massive fan of anything involving dried fruit, cake, Xmas pudding, mince pies etc but have maybe 4 mince pies myself over a week or so and others for H and his dad

I make amazing mince pies, modest not. Add Brandy, butter in the pastry, my adult kids hoover them up. So far, about 30, will make another 20 Christmas morning. Serve with fresh double cream mixed with Baileys.

I’ve been eating 12 a week at least since mid November 😭 honestly I love them! About 50/50 homemade vs shop bought, I will be sad when the season is over.

hI can’t remember last time I had a mince pie. They were a staple during Christmas when I lived in the family home, then when I left home would buy a packet each year as it was traditional. Then realised didn’t actually enjoy or miss them so stopped buying decades ago.

If "the festive period" was defined as "when the shops sell christmas stuff" it would last all year and wizzard would be out of royalties!

I made 24 yesterday using my mums famous short pastry recipe and no added sugar homemade mincemeat. Used the remaining mincemeat to roll into a puff pastry slice, delicious.
