How many mince pies do you make/buy each year?

Just curious? I have made 60 mince pies in the last 2 weeks and all have gone!

Family of 5 and being offered to the odd guest that pops in.

No idea of numbers but have been eating them for months, I put some in the freezer to eat all year round.

I make a dozen every 3-4 days from Dec 1. I think my kids are the only Gen Zers that actually enjoy dried fruit.

None. I can’t stand them and DH and the DCs much prefer other things.

We purchased one pack and I got one free in my work Christmas hamper, I’m not a huge fan but will have the occasional one, DP loves them

I made 24 yesterday using my mums famous short pastry recipe and no added sugar homemade mincemeat. Used the remaining mincemeat to roll into a puff pastry slice, delicious.

Sounds great. I have made some with a crumble top this year when I realised the pastry wasn’t going to go very far.
They have been very popular.

Zero. Hate them

MerryAndBrightLaLaLa · 23/12/2025 19:08

I’ll make about 36
I’ll probably eat one.

Zero. I cannot stand them!

Agree. Had one this year out of politeness. Thankfully a mini one.

I’ve made 56 so far this year. I’ve eaten three, but once Christmas gets properly underway I’ll probably have to make some more. My 21yo is a chef (at the Ivy so crazy hours and hectic this time of year) so he likes to come in exhausted in the small hours, line a basin with mince pies, fill it with ice cream and gorge the lot before collapsing into bed. He’s underweight, so as long as he keeps eating ‘em, I’ll keep making ‘em!

In the interest of science over the last few weeks we bought the “6 All Butter” variety from Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi, M&S and Lidl.

The results are in:
Best Pastry - Lidl.
Best mince - Aldi.

Overall Winner : Aldi

They were heated for 20 seconds in a 900w microwave and eaten plain.

Made around 100 so far. For work and for get-togethers at home. Making another batch tomorrow

I usually buy the one obligatory box, but this year I found a recipe for gingerbread flavoured pastry so I’ve made tons! A couple of dozen so far, all for me since the kids don’t like raisins.
