🙂🌲

Ours was never frozen so no. Delivered on Sunday night fresh and will probably be cooked tomorrow afternoon/evening

slightlydistrac · 23/12/2025 10:36

I did a thread last year and it helped a few people, so I thought I'd do it again.😁

Ah well done 👍🏼
We haven't got one, but I'm sure it'll help someone!

jamdan21 · 23/12/2025 10:38

Just taken mine out the freezer and had to empty a shelf to get it into the fridge, turkey crown.

KanesEyes · 23/12/2025 10:38

Mines in the fridge but can I just say thanks for the service announcement OP, I always appreciate reminders!

This year I'm organized but I usually live my life in a state of last minute panic...!

mindutopia · 23/12/2025 10:45

I took it out yesterday…when I realised that I’d made a list of all the things to take out on Christmas Eve to thaw, but forgot about the turkey entirely. 😳

Gives me flashbacks to the year we thought we were going to MIL’s for Christmas and her partner refused to let us come (that is another bloody thread altogether!), but we suddenly had to run around like mad on Christmas Eve throwing together a Christmas lunch for us and dc at home, which was fine except all we could get was a frozen turkey at like 5pm on the 24th. Spent the next 12 hours trying to panic thaw it and ended up having to just whack it in the oven with the cavity still frozen and pray to the turkey gods that I wouldn’t kill us all. 😬 (it was fine…but stressful)

Kittkats · 23/12/2025 10:49

Thank you! Mine wasn’t in the freezer, but in the oven (turned off, but need to keep safe from cats) and it turns out the oven is very insulated so was at fridge/ freezer temp! May have to transfer the turkey to the car boot…. 7kg and still frozen solid after 17h.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 23/12/2025 10:49

On my to do list for today. Thanks for the reminder

Thank you for reminding me to get the stuffing and pigs in blankets out, will do that now!

GnomeDePlume · 23/12/2025 11:01

Ours is in a brew bin brining away.

DH (household cook) has a long timetable writren out.

HansHolbein · 23/12/2025 11:35

Remember your thread from last year, OP. Good idea!

We are having chicken but I’m bumping for others….

101Alsatians · 23/12/2025 11:39

That's sweet OP!

toastandegg · 23/12/2025 11:43

Remembered ours, it’s out and it the garage away from the cats, ready to be brined tonight

NattyKnitter116 · 23/12/2025 11:46

Just taken mine out and realised I can’t read my fridge temp dial as no numbers just weird lines. And my brain is wondering whether more lines means higher or lower temp. I’ve posted a pic on chat but it’s under review.

Seeline · 23/12/2025 11:48

Mine's already in the fridge which means there is very little room for anything else!
However, last year it went to my MIL's spare fridge to defrost and I don't know what setting she has it on, but it was still solid when DH fetched it in Christmas Eve. He had to dive up to the supermarket for a fresh one!!

Alondra · 23/12/2025 11:50

I saw the thread and thought something had happened in Turkey,

Seriously.....

HappyFace2025 · 23/12/2025 11:50

I read the title of the thread and thought ... Ooh what's happening in Turkey now? 😂

Thank you for reminding me to get the stuffing and pigs in blankets out, will do that now!

You can cook pigs in blankets straight from frozen, so you don't need to take up fridge space with those.

slightlydistrac · 23/12/2025 13:40

For anyone who does forget and their turkey is still a bit solid, fill the bath with cool water and put it in there for an hour or so. I have never had to do this. 😂

@Kittkats it might be worth leaving it wrapped in a towel on the side in the kitchen or in a spare room overnight tonight - as long as you can keep the door shut against feline marauders, that is...

SlimShandy · 23/12/2025 14:19

Thanks OP!
I haven't got room in the fridge, so it's been in a cool bag in the car boot since I collected it yesterday. Just checked it and it's hardly thawed at all, so will remove the freezer blocks and check it again later.
