More or less. Not hosting, but taking a lot of food, so 4 dozen Ps in Bs, made and in the freezer, 🎄puds, already made. A load of cheese straws and 4 dozen mince pies made today, brandy butter still to make. 2 pieces of gammon to cook tomorrow, one to take, one left here for us when we return.🙂🎄

It’s because DC didn’t sort out the funding for the course. We thought it had been done months ago so we need to go see what can be done. We’ve already had the large vet’s bill and the car needs work done this week too so not exactly what we need at this time of year if we have to pay for it all because of this.

Menu is a 1970s theme this year so prawn cocktail to start (easy enough), duck a l’orange for main (sides TBD) and I have to make a trifle and a Black Forest gateau for the desserts. We stay with my parents at Christmas as other family come up too and I didn’t want to have to cook/prep on Christmas Eve as we have a family birthday then as well but I might not have a choice this year.

No. I’m working right up to Christmas Eve and had a schedule of jobs to do daily so it wasn’t a last minute panic. But I’ve been in bed poorly since yesterday and I’m now horribly behind schedule. DH and DD have stepped up, but it isn’t the relaxed, easy going run up to the big day that I’d planned.

Not completely but DGS (18 months) was throwing up last night and DD isn't sure if they'll be coming for Xmas as she's worried it's Norovirus and they'll get it/pass it on to us. 😥
It's only me, DP, DD and her DP as well as DGS so its possibly going to be a quiet one instead. Food shop arriving Tuesday but I'll freeze the turkey ...

We're done. I'm staying away from the shops until next weekend me. Had quite enough of being shoved about.

DP has Long COVID and is immune suppressed. We are in our 70s so trying not to pick up anything. It also entails a long train journey for DD and her family to get here which, if they are feeling under par, could be miserable for them.

Nope. Moved into a complete “doer upper” 2 months ago. House is a shit hole, boxes still everywhere. I have done my shopping but I’m still waiting for some of it to be delivered 🤦‍♀️ have wrapped not one thing and still need to go food shopping on Tuesday. I will pull it off because I have to (thankfully only immediate family coming for Christmas and they don’t care what state we are in) and by next year? I’ll be back on form with a kitchen where the units don’t just randomly fall off the walls 🤣🤣🤣

Shop arrives tomorrow night, anything missing at least it gives me two days to get it. Popping out for the last few bits tomorrow. So all being well, I’ll be done and dusted tomorrow. 🙏. Nothing wrapped yet!

We only buy token presents and they’re done. Everyone helps with the cooking so it’s no stress. Small shops are open Christmas Day, even if we forget something or run out of milk. It’s simple for us.

Big food shop first thing in the morning and a baking day. All presents bought and wrapped though, which is a first for me.

Just a couple of gifts to wrap tomorrow and do the online shop for it to arrive Wednesday morning. I expect we’ll need to go to an actual shop for something that’s missing or forgotten!

Other than going to do a few things with the kids like swimming and Santa and enjoy chilling as work has been full on the last 6 months.

Yep all ready here, last few presents arriving hopefully today so just need to wrap those. Veg and fresh stuff coming tomorrow DH collecting crab and monkfish from fishmarket on xmas eve. DS and fiancee arrived yesterday so doing a nice 3 course dinner tonight and have her open her presents as she is going off to her parents for actual xmas. Mince pies made yesterday house all tidy so yeah bring it on, love watching my boys open presents even though they are grown up now.

One final push for us - everything is going wrong 😭😭😭😭

I survived Brent Cross yesterday (it actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be! It got busier as we were leaving) and also went into town today for some food stuff as we have friends coming over tonight.
