Yes but then we don’t make it over complicated. Everyone helps - it’s a relaxing fun day.

Tarkan · 21/12/2025 16:05

No. Still have to buy a lot of food and gifts for the family. I’ve had multiple health issues this year then we lost one of our dogs a few days ago and just don’t have the motivation for anything now. DH seems to be coming down with another bug (he’s only just got over one) and odds are with my health this means I’ll wake up feeling like garbage on Christmas morning more than likely.

I normally have my Christmas menu planned in July (we never have a traditional meal) and at the moment I don’t know what sides I will be doing yet. I think we’ll just be buying vouchers for everyone’s gifts.

I don’t even know when I will have time to do anything as we have a meeting at DC’s college tomorrow then we’re at a friend’s house in the evening and we go to my parents’ house on Christmas Eve so that leaves me just one day to buy everything, make anything that’s to be done in advance and write cards/wrap the few gifts we have.

I really could do with another week if anyone has a time machine LOL.

TheAutumnCrow · 21/12/2025 16:06

No, but I don’t care.

Notmyreality · 21/12/2025 16:07

4 days to what..? Am I missing something…?

clippysip · 21/12/2025 16:09

No I've been ill so behind my schedule, shopping is done but cleaning needs to be done and my hoover just broke 😭

professionalhomebody · 21/12/2025 16:09

slavetothekittens · 21/12/2025 16:13

Just got a trip to the shops for veg and anything I've forgotten and still to put decorations up. Everything else done and dusted.

sloth75 · 21/12/2025 16:13

Presents are all bought, stocking fillers (deodorant, shower gel etc) are due in the food shop tomorrow. Food shop arriving as said and one also being delivered Christmas Eve. Cleaner will be here at 8am tomorrow so that's sorted. Just wrapping left to do! Feeing relatively chilled this year!

MeAndMyGhost · 21/12/2025 16:14

Yes, all ready. Just need to get a couple of extra carrots/bit of extra veg but that's it,

Loving the Christmas spirit!

TheChosenTwo · 21/12/2025 16:14

NO.
well I wouldn’t be ready if Christmas were tomorrow but there’s still a good few days to go by which time I will be!

I suspect you’re just being obtuse because the op mentions Christmas…

Lookingforwardto2025 · 21/12/2025 16:24

Big shop arrives tomorrow and I am also collecting DH's GP to come and stay. M&S food to order collection 9am Tuesday and then festive afternoon tea at 3pm. Collect BIL Wednesday afternoon and carol service at 6pm. All nice enjoyable stuff and am very calm, it will all be lovely.

Very lucky that cleaner comes tomorrow before GP arrive so I don't have to sort that. Will need to stop at the car wash on the way to get them.

Yes, totally ready. We have done all our shopping (food and presents) online so no stress. Looking forward to a lovely week of seeing friends and family, trip to the theatre, and some winter walks.

Need to finish off cleaning the house tomorrow, doing the big food shop and wrapping the last batch of presents on the 23rd. It feels a bit close to the wire this year but I'm excited for the day and I've had a really stressful run up at work (threatened with redundancy, outcome only received last week), so I've been practical but my heart hasn't really been in it as I've been worried about myself and colleagues.

Oh and the boiler is broken with only 4 days to go to get it sorted, and I don't even have the bandwidth to deal with that 😅

I'm sure it will all come together somehow ❤

Brightbluesomething · 21/12/2025 17:14

Yes, nearly everything is ready for a chilled Christmas this year. Food shop done today and put away. I’m going to start wrapping presents now listening to Christmas tunes while the DC’s are out with their friends.
Lots of lovely things planned over the next few days so I’m not spending time rushing around the shops.

SabreIsMyFave · 21/12/2025 17:19

Yessss. All done. Wrapped about 50 presents a few days ago, bought the last of the refrigerator stuff today, and all the Christmas cards have been written and sent, and DH and I are looking forward to our 2 DC and their partners coming on Christmas day!

They haven't been on Christmas day since 2019, (2020 and 2021 was covid of course, then 2022, 2023, and 2024, they either went away, or spent it on their own, or went to the partner's place, so 2025 is our turn to host.) Can't wait!

They (and their partners) all live 18-20 miles away, and are driving up for midday on Christmas day. Can't wait! 😃

OriginalUsername2 · 21/12/2025 17:22

Everything’s ready except the fresh food bits which I’ll get tomorrow and a bit of pottering around cleaning.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 21/12/2025 17:22

We do all the wrapping on Christmas Eve so no issues with that. We have all the gifts already so no problems there. We do need to do an M+S picky bits shop as they have the best stuff. Also need to clean the oven, tidy the living room and kitchen. Husband is off work now til January so we have plenty of time to get everything done

callmelover · 21/12/2025 17:23

I’m a bit bored of it now to be honest.
