Would you give this as a present to a 9yo boy?

My dd needs a last-minute gift to give a friend. We’ve got this… is it suitable or too strange to give a 9yo boy?

Its a bit girly imo

TonyHallintheTardis · 03/12/2025 14:22

Not very helpful but depends on the boy! One of my 9yos would've loved it; the other very much not. What does your DD think?

Cluborange666 · 03/12/2025 14:22

My sons would have both liked it.

My son would love it. Could you back it up with a little cash in a card too?

scaredfriend · 03/12/2025 14:22

I think it’s too girly. Stick a fiver in a card and grab a bag of Haribo ?

Dontyoulooktired · 03/12/2025 14:23

My son would have liked that at 9. He would have stuck them all in the bath at once and had a great time.

It is more of a present for a girl though, even if I will get jumped on for saying that.

So something else would be better. Cash, or an Amazon or Minecraft voucher.

InLoveWithAI · 03/12/2025 14:23

I wouldn't

CraftyPlayer · 03/12/2025 14:24

My 9yr old son would like it.

Teathecolourofcreosote · 03/12/2025 14:25

It is quite random. What's the context? whole class birthday party for a child they don't know that well (probably fine) or best friend's child (less so).

You can get digitally delivered gift cards for Fortnite etc.

PeatandDieselfan · 03/12/2025 14:58

My 9 year old boy loves bath bombs. Why is it too girly? Are boys not allowed baths? Or is it the food theme? Unless they only have a shower, you are overthinking it.

canuckup · 03/12/2025 14:59

Nope.

canklesmctacotits · 03/12/2025 14:59

I think my DS would be a bit confused but use them anyway. I'd hate them as I hate cleaning the bath afterwards!

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 03/12/2025 15:00

I don't think a boy of 9 would appreciate that, no.

MYOB12 · 03/12/2025 15:23

yeh I’d say that’s a girls gift.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/12/2025 15:26

DS would have hated it, DD would probably have come out in a rash

Ohplesandbanonos · 03/12/2025 15:31

It depends on the child, people in this thread saying their ds would hate it, my ds would love it! He loves a bath and any type of bath bomb.

What does your dd think? Does she think he would like it?

Glamba · 03/12/2025 15:32

One of mine loved bath bombs at this age. He does have an older sister and always had a lot of friends who are girls, if that makes a difference.

Usernameunavailableagain12 · 03/12/2025 16:19

No

VenusClapTrap · 03/12/2025 17:29

Mine would have been very happy with that when he was 9. He loves bath bombs.

nayals · 03/12/2025 17:35

I think it’s fine, the only thing that makes it a little bit girly is the cupcake. My 9 yrold would love it, he loves a pamper night. My 40 yr old husband would love it too!

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 03/12/2025 17:40

I wouldn’t. My youngest would have liked it but not my older ones.

Jollyjoy · 03/12/2025 17:41

This is nuts! Why is it girly? Do boys not like playing in the bath, chips, burgers and cupcakes? I despair…

Forgottenmyphone · 03/12/2025 19:54

Thanks for all your comments. In the end, I played it safe and gave a pack of gel pens and a box of Heroes.

OrigamiAnimal · 03/12/2025 20:12

I gave that exact set to my son aged 9 and he was very happy. But gel pens and sweets would also go down well 🙂

Its a bit girly imo

What’s girly about a burger and washing? Is it any wonder people want to try and change their gender when people have opinions like this.

I think it looks perfectly fine for a 9yr old.
