Dd had something like this https://amzn.eu/d/gyBTB5p in year 5/6. Though wanted something plainer for high school more like the black Nike bag you posted. Year 8 and she has a handbag. She still uses the galaxy bag for one of the sports at the weekend.

DeathMetalMum. That’s really helpful thanks. Think I’ll go with something along this line

My daughter had a hype one when she was 10, nothing with flowers etc, she had a ombré one with stuff hanging off it
most the 10-12 year olds at my school have the lululemon backpacks

River island backpacks are a popular choice at my DDs school

Okiedokie123 · 25/11/2025 23:40

@Ferretedaway I’d go with a Hype backpack. The one in your op is…..not cool!
@Consideringparttime thank you so much. I’d not heard of typo before. I’ve just spent £53! (several Christmas presents sorted)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/11/2025 03:53

DD is 14/Y9
She is “cool”
She had a Hype bag in Y5, lasted s couple of years in both social acceptability and before it fell apart.
Now she has a plain colour Fjallraven and a plain Jansport.

Ok last question . How about black flowery one for 7 yr old and one of the other two for the 10 year old . Both with cute charms

I think the patterns are nice , the clouds more than the flowers. The ombre one is a bit boyish I think.
If I was buying 2 backpacks for what I am assuming is sisters, I'd buy the typo ones in 2 different colours or hype clouds/stars (I'd never buy a pattern but that's cos I'm fussy about patterns others might not be)
Then I'd buy a jellycat type charm, some pins and stuff
If you're in primark, they might even have teen backpacks in the teen area. Then you will know that they are the most up to date 'cool" style

In high school it's all Longchamp bags here for girls, or Nike backpacks. In black.

biwinoone · 26/11/2025 08:23

Look at smiggle. Most kids like their back packs. They are more kid oriented

biwinoone · 26/11/2025 08:27

I am saying that as a parent of daughter in year 6. Her and her friends have colourful back packs. I have only seen boys with black backpacks. They don’t have these weird fluffy bunny feet at the bottom. They like ones with lots of pockets and put charms that are heavier than the backpack itself. Most of them have hype or smiggle. Although I also see some cutesy Chinese brands as well

Thesonofaphesantplucker · 26/11/2025 08:32

My DD is 9, she has a Hype bag, probably galaxy looking, if I was inclined to make a judgement on the design 🤣

She has had it for 2 years now (I got it from TK Maxx for a bargain). It’s immaculate.

I’ve no idea on coolness, as she hasn’t said anything either way!

Ferretedaway · 26/11/2025 11:18

I’ve ordered 2 hype ones off Amazon . Thank you all for coolness advice . I didn’t want there to be two girls hoping to God they didn’t have to leave home with backpacks of shame

Eastpak rucksacks or Jansport ones with jellycat charms or similar styles.
