If you have a stand mixer, which one do you have and would you recommend it?

I've been wanting one for ages, and now seems to be a good time as there are loads of deals. I've always wanted a Kitchen Aid, but wondering if they are actually worth the money compared to others?

Bonus points if you can recommend one in a pretty colour

Kenwood Chef. The original and best, in my view!

Mine was a wedding present 19 years ago and is a real workhorse. I love it!

I've been to 3 local Lidl's looking for one but they've all been out of stock😭hence why I've had to start looking online instead

They have a stock check online, my nearest are sold out but a couple of stores in my general vicinity have stock

Mine is 30 years old and still going strong. It has a big glass blender attachment and I also bought a pasta roller attachment.

Like everyone I prefer the look of the Kitchen Aid, but IMO this is better machine. Actually my MIL had a KA, but bought me the Kenwood as a wedding present.

Yes, I have a blender, a food processor, a tiny blender for nut butters, but currently no pasta roller. I love the fact that the attachment mechanisms are still identical to the 80s and earlier so you can buy secondhand or new.

I have a Kenwood Chef which is about 30 years old (still going strong) and a Kitchen Aid which I have had for about 6 years. Used to do lots of baking for the church fete etc. and found that both do great cakes , but the Kitchen Aid does create a fluffier sponge so better for some cakes ( blind tested with a group of friends) Beware though that the Kitchen Aid is solid metal and very heavy. Worth going to somewhere like John Lewis to try the weight of both. If you intend keeping it in a low cupboard the Kenwood might be better.

I bought a KMix abiut 12 years ago now and I love it. I’ve had to replace the creaming gadget as the rubber gradually tore but otherwise super happy with it.

SueElla · 26/11/2025 16:48

Kenwood KMix, had it for 13 years, used it professionally as I had a cake business for 4 years, still using it weekly and still going strong. Worth every penny

Help!
Argos and curry's out of stock for collection and delivery for the kenwood kmix.
My daughter is GF and loves baking. I'd wanted to get her something she can use and then grow into pasta making etc.
Suggestions for other places to buy and for other options most welcome.
Budget is £300 max max max.

There are only 2 things I would like to
inherit from my parents- one if their clocks, and my mother’s 1960s Kenwood Chef.

Still works brilliantly.

My KitchenAid lasted 15 years but DH broke it doing “essential maintenance” 🤣. I have another one now. KitchenAid I mean.

MagnusSkipton · 07/01/2026 14:19

What a beauty! Get the pasta rollers if you can - they are fantastic 😁

Kitchen aid. Thinking about another one for dd’s 18th for her to have her own. She’s a very keen baker and has mentioned it more than once!

Sorbae · 07/01/2026 20:05

I have the matte silver Kitchen Aid and I bloody love it.
I use it multiple times a week. I do all my pizza dough, cake mixtures and bread dough in it, as you get all the different attachments. It’s made cooking/baking much easier and less messy. It helps that it looks pretty swish too. It has pride of place in my little kitchen.

Chipsahoy · 07/01/2026 20:32

I have a Smeg. I bought it second hand on Facebook for £100 barely used. I love it. Use it all the time. My first stand mixer so I’ve nothing to compare it to. Plus it’s pretty!
