If you have a stand mixer, which one do you have and would you recommend it?

I've been wanting one for ages, and now seems to be a good time as there are loads of deals. I've always wanted a Kitchen Aid, but wondering if they are actually worth the money compared to others?

Bonus points if you can recommend one in a pretty colour

I love my Kenwood Kmix. My mum's Kenwood lasted over 25 years.

ProfessorRedNine · 25/11/2025 10:02

I have a kenwood chef (inherited) it is about 15 years old. Not stylish but super functional. Plain white casing with stainless steel bowl.

Sparkles23 · 25/11/2025 12:09

I have a Kenwood KMix, it’s brilliant, I bought it during lockdown 2020 and it’s used most days.

APatternGrammar · 25/11/2025 12:10

My Kenwood Kmix is going strong after 15 years, used 1–2 times a week.
Whatever you get, check the power it has and whether it can go in the dishwasher

I have a kitchen Aid and I love it. I had a KMix before and it was fine but I much prefer the Kitchen Aid and find it better but both would be fine for most domestic uses I think. The Kitchen Aid is often a bit more expensive here in the UK as it's a US product. There are some good black Friday deals on the KMix at the moment and I saw a Kitchen Aid in Morrisons for £300 the other day so worth checking there if you have one locally!

I have a Kenwood, it's a Kenwood Major and was made in the 1980s and shows no sign of it's age. It's a massive metal lump and isn't "pretty" but it's an absolute reliable workhorse.

EeewDavid12 · 25/11/2025 12:38

I have a kMix in cream. it’s 9 years old now and still going strong. I also have the pasta
attachment for it which is great.

I love my Kenwood Kmix. My mum's Kenwood lasted over 25 years.

Yep! My Kmix is amazing. Wouldn’t ever go with anything other than Kenwood.

I have a Kitchen Aid mini. I didnt have space on the countertop for the normal size one and I don't really do that much baking. Although I'm not sure if its because its a smaller one but I find I'm always having to scrape down the sides. But it does what I need it to 😃

I have a kitchenaid and I love it - I had it for over 20 years and it’s still going strong. The various attachments are also great like the Ice cream maker.

Unescorted · 25/11/2025 12:52

I have a Kenwood Chef... Still going strong after 20 years. As a stand mixer it is great but I use my little hand mixer (also Kenwood) for most of my baking, sauce making, cream whipping. Dough is done in the bread maker The stand mixer only comes out when something needs beating / whisking as it cools down... Eg Swiss buttercream

8TinyToeBeans · 25/11/2025 13:06

I have a kitchen aid. Can’t fault it, it looks great and does everything I want it to.

Kenwood kmix is also good - used that in a previous job. It’s just more utilitarian so went for the kitchen aid myself!

Lemonbaytree · 25/11/2025 13:09

I will add, whatever you decide. Don't get a glass bowl. I have seen so many posts on people's glass bowls breaking. Make sure it's stainless steel.

Roserunner · 25/11/2025 13:09

I have a sage and really like it, I got it from Costco and was cheaper than a KitchenAid. It's very sturdy and came with two bowls, attachments etc.

islamann · 25/11/2025 13:11

Kenwood K mix in rose gold.
could justify the extra £200 for a kitchen aid when they do the same job.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 25/11/2025 13:15

I've got the kmix and love it. Couldn't justify the additional cost of a kitchen aid at the time but frequently now seeing offers that would cost the same and would now go for the kitchen aid if I need to replace

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/11/2025 15:23

KitchenAid in pistachio here - absolutely adore it!

Spanador · 26/11/2025 09:57

Thank you everyone! My mum has a kitchenaid and my MIL has a kmix and obviously they both recommend the one they've gotGrin so it's definitely between those two now

Now just to decide which colour too. We're moving house and our new kitchen is pale green/cream but all our other appliances are black. Would baby pink be out of place? Grin

I have neither, but did a cake course in the summer and made a passing remark that I would love a kitchen aid. The instructor advised against, saying that the Knox is superior in terms of being able to adjust the speed and less scraping off the sides. Very willing to be corrected by someone who has a kitchen aid but just wanted to say what a lovely position you’re in- enjoy whatever you buy ❤

Psst- pale green, cream and baby pink sound heavenly x

IlovetoKnitandRead · 26/11/2025 10:17

Kitchen Aid here in a lilac colour.I have had it about 25 years and I have most of the attachments (but not the ice cream maker!) I love it and use it often.

ForkOnASausage · 26/11/2025 10:29

I went with a KMix because it is British as a Kitchen Aid is American.

I have had it at least 15 years. It is used every week to make bread/pizza dough and I make family birthday cakes. I only have attachments for cake making - a creaming beater which is great and a shield that goes over the bowl for when I make buttercream.

What I wish I had and Father Christmas is definitely listening (Dh, he is amazing) is a stainless steel bowl because I have the glass one but it is heavy.

Mine is 30 years old and still going strong. It has a big glass blender attachment and I also bought a pasta roller attachment.

Like everyone I prefer the look of the Kitchen Aid, but IMO this is better machine. Actually my MIL had a KA, but bought me the Kenwood as a wedding present.

Lidl have a Kitchenaid mixer this week for £249. I bought one yesterday. KitchenAid 4.3L Classic Stand Mixer | LIDL

I've been to 3 local Lidl's looking for one but they've all been out of stock😭hence why I've had to start looking online instead
