So sad. What a fab guy.

Violetparis · 21/11/2025 08:28

Sad news, loved The Stone Roses back in the day, went to see them the day I finished my A levels in 1989, great memory.

distilledridiculousness · 21/11/2025 08:28

Such very sad news. I didn’t realise his had kids who were still young and had lost his wife so recently.
My DS discovered the Stone Roses last year so they’ve been played a lot in our house recently. The tunes take me back to a particular time in my youth. Legendary man from a legendary band.

FredaFox · 21/11/2025 08:30

His wife was a friend of a friend, I’m heartbroken for the 2 boys, lost both parents at 12.
Hes not been in great health for years

dapsnotplimsolls · 21/11/2025 08:39

I was gutted when I heard, I saw them at Spike Island.

I'llBuyThatForADollar · 21/11/2025 08:47

Rest in peace dear Mani. God bless you and your children 🙏 x

I'llBuyThatForADollar · 21/11/2025 08:48

I saw them at Heaton Park when they reformed. It’s still one of the best days of my life.

Dontcallmescarface · 21/11/2025 08:52

My usual reaction to the death of someone well known is "oh that's a shame", but hearing the news yesterday brought an actual tear to my eye. I met him a few times and he was the funniest, most bonkers person there. He told some amazing stories and would make you cry with laughter. He was a small man with a big heart, even bigger smile and gave us some of the best bass lines ever ( the opening riff of I Wanna Be Adored is one of the best ever IMHO). My heart breaks for his boys, I can't even begin to imagine how awful they must be feeling right now.

RIP Mani, back in the arms of you beloved Immelda, you truly were an inspiration to many.💔

333FionaG · 21/11/2025 08:57

So sad, another musician gone way too soon.

noideawhat · 21/11/2025 09:01

So, so sad. I've also been listening to the Stone Roses since I heard. His poor children. RIP Mani 💔

Florencesndzebedee · 21/11/2025 09:02

Sad News especially for his children. I wasn’t a huge Primal Scream or Stone Roses fan at the time but, looking back, I appreciate their music now and there were some great tunes.

BluFiore · 21/11/2025 09:05

RIP Mani 😢

troppibambini6 · 21/11/2025 09:07

Really sad. I was fortunate enough to see a lot of him socially in my 20s and he really was a really really lovely bloke. Very unaffected, down to earth and just a lovely guy.
He told me a very funny story about antics the stone roses had got up to after a totps show. He couldn’t stop laughing when he told me properly giggling like a little boy.

Goldenbear · 21/11/2025 09:20

RIP Mani, my oldest brother introduced the Stone Roses to me, great memories of my Mum telling him to turn it down and I have distinct memory of skiving from school with friends and Love Spreads video playing on MTV in Burger King and us revelling in it- no cares in the world then!

Freebus · 21/11/2025 09:22

RIP Mani. V sad news. Also been listening to Stone roses

SkibiddyRizz · 21/11/2025 09:31

So sad. Those poor boys. The Stone Roses have got me through a lot.
Waterfall, She Bangs the Drums and The One all genuine classics.

LaundryHepburn · 21/11/2025 12:03

First heard of them in 1989, aged 16. I went to Spike Island, what an amazing day. When I hear songs from their first album, it sends me right back to that time and place. RIP Mani, you brought so much joy to a lot of people.

HeadNorth · 21/11/2025 12:14

It is sad news - I am of his vintage, so pretty shocking to me. I love their first album back in the day, it definately merits a re-listen. Very sorry to learn he leaves 12 year old boys without a mum and dad.

planetexpressship · 21/11/2025 12:34

I never anticipated this would be the thing that prompted me to sign in for the first time in a decade instead of just reading.

The soundtrack to the awesome bit if my youth when everything got fun. Every week at our indie club you were guaranteed Fools Gold - the opening bars still make my heart leap that I get to dance!

Never saw him in the Roses, but was at Primal Scream’s headline Glastonbury set the year it pissed down and danced my socks off.

I might even have named my firstborn after him, lol.

Massive respect for the joy he brought to so many, and thoughts with his sons, family and friends.

RIP Mani 💔

I love the look of delight that he and Reni share about 50 seconds into this, when the Roses are playing Waterfall for the first time in 15 years, having got back together when no one believed they ever would. For me it completely captures the magic of this band and the beauty of what they gave to all of us.

And so, so sad for his young sons.

Ahh that’s a lovely video ❤️ Thank you for posting it.

Love the Stone Roses. This is such sad news.

Apileofballyhoo · 21/11/2025 15:37

I'm still shocked, the music just brings back so many memories. A kind of soundtrack to my youth. So sad for his two kids too, hope they have fantastic grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many family friends. To lose both your parents at such a young age is tragic.

Single50something · 21/11/2025 18:31

😔 so sad I introduced my little brogher now 47 to TSR and he took me to the home coming at Heaton Park. Then Etihad. Makes those times even more special now. The poor twins 😢

Haggisfish3 · 21/11/2025 18:37

I managed to see him play with both the stone roses and primal scream! Total dude.

He didn't look too healthy bless him. Such an amazing band.
Awful for his kids.
