Does anyone love their bedside table?

Having been searching for ages and not found anything that I really like. We have Ikea ones at the moment (improbably named Bjorksnas). They are OK but not inspiring. Has anyone found one they would recommend?

I've had a couple of Ikea Lack tables as bedside tables for years.

I'd love to replace them, but everything I can find is too shallow. The Lack tables are 55 cm square and are the perfect size for putting a cup of tea next to me. Most stuff I can find is about 40 cm deep and I feel like I'd be putting the tea down behind me.

I'd really love something the same size, but with drawers, but can never find anything. I've looked at getting some built, but just can't afford it.

Cotswold Essential Side table. Until I can afford the Ercol Teramo bedside tables to match my bed.

I feel you OP!!

@mackerellaare you able to share the name of the La Redouye ones? I was looking for something like you described but the link doesn't work ( ad blocker). Are they a decent company in terms of delivery and putting the furniture together?

They're called Nizou and they're currently on sale for £144 each (reduced from £240 - we definitely didn't pay anything like that!)

We've bought a few things from La Redoute before (a media unit and a rug) and they were fine in terms of delivery. I think there was a bit of assembly needed but not much. And everything we've bought from them has been really good quality for the price (especially if you buy it during a sale) - the bedside tables are solid oak and oak veneer, for example, and still look as good as when we first bought them.

Mine is currently a billy bookcase!

I have my eye on some Stag mid century store ones on Fb but am concerned about pests. Anyone any thoughts on that?

Have you been to your local auction house? Check their calendar to see if they do quarterly special sales too.

A plant stand is an interesting idea @WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady- if nothing else it opens up another internet rabbit hole to go down as have drawn a blank with bedside table searches!

I have a small plant stand and this attached to the bed as the space is tiny. The duvet covers the top of the storage so it looks tidy.

Following as we need some too.

Very happy with our Rowen and Wren ones. Excellent quality and just enough room for books, small vase and phone.

We have some metal ones from Soho Home that I love - but they don't seem to do them any more. If you have the budget (it's expensive!) Soho Home have some lush stuff!

Ive got small chest of drawers on one side and a narrow tall boy on the other, which isnt too tall to be useful

I cannot stand it when we got and stay in holiday cottages and flats and they have some miniscule table or shelf or stand, no where to store things inside in drawers and the top is so small you can barely balance a lamp, phone, tissues etc. I have a lot of medication that needs to be on the side, books, my watch lipsil, cream etc etc.

halfandhalfchipsandrice · 17/11/2025 06:58

I don't really like bedside tables so bought these. We have the 3 drawer version. Holds loads and so easy to keep clean. https://www.utilitydesign.co.uk/kartell-componibili-storage-unit-round

Ours are custom made small 3 drawer pine chest of drawers. They were originally made to fit either side of a bay window but now fit perfectly as bedside tables. Quite a few places still seem to do custom furniture. Don't know how well pine paints though if you don't like pine

Mine I picked up during lockdown, I painted in Annie Sloane French grey and finished with AS lacquer, then had glass cut for the top. They still look like new.

We just have a couple of chests of drawers (quite a long wall though so plenty of room) which we inherited - nothing special about them, just brown Edwardian chests of drawers, but lots of space for books, lamps etc.

Work out what your requirements are, in height and size and in storage so you can filter searches. Look at end tables or side tables as well as bedside tables. Look at office storage too if the dimensions work.

I’m in the middle of a Bedsie table conundrum too at the moment - have found some I like but they are low….Lower than the top of the mattress? What’s the consensus on that? Google says they should be the same height or taller?

PourUsAGlass · 17/11/2025 10:23

I have these and they look beautiful

Mine is an old cable drum I found in a skip and then painted about 20 years ago.

IBorAlevels · 17/11/2025 10:49

Had a similar question a few weeks ago, searched for ages trying to think about things such as not hoarding clutter (did I really need drawers) and would this be easier if all was "out" on display...also wanted space for a lamp but was struggling to find something thin enough. Opted for this as a super cheap option that appeared to fill the brief all in one:

Fits perfectly but the light isn't very bright and won't switch to white, so I get a quite dull yellow/green or pink glow. I might replace the LED strip and hopefully it will be more functional.

Ooh that's good to know The tops are looking a bit sad, water got spilt on them (thanks cat for trying to drink my water and knocking the glass over). Where did you get the glass cut? Project for the New Year
