Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

lucysmam · 15/11/2025 09:43

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my usual kitchen spot, after a nice lie in snuggled up with boy cat. I don't think he wanted to get up but I needed the loo! They've both vanished off back upstairs now they've had breakfast, presumably to bed since it's quiet.

Dd2's not up yet so it's peaceful down here, apart from the washer for work and school stuff. Dd1's back again but is working today. She was up just after 4am to shower, dress and get to work, to be picked up by coach at 6am to get to Uttoxeter. I'm quite surprised they went, although know nothing about horse racing.

My plan for the day is to clean and tidy the kitchen. It's an absolute bomb site!! Once that's done, I'll see if dd2 wants to watch the last three episodes of The Rookie with me, while I paint peg people or spend an hour planning Christmas gifts. I don't really fancy going very far in the rain!

We'll have leftover Chinese takeaway for tea this evening, and probably a fairly early night for me after a shower 💤 .

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam.
I've just had my tea and toast in bed and put on a wash
I'll stay in bed till the wash needs hung up, then I'll get going for the day. Looks dry and bright here.

frozendaisy · 15/11/2025 09:54

Morning morning
Drinking coffee just waiting for tumble to finish shirts and washer to finish only load of the day (then into tumble) whilst waiting for eldest to come back from driving lesson.

Other two are still in bed because pitches across the area are underwear basically even too muddy for the most ardent of teams!

It’s a day to read all day I think, watch tv in bed. As I think its more or less non-stop now weekend wise until the end of the year (and The Hallmarked Man won’t read itself) and I need to read that to pave the way for the rest of the “winter/christmas” pile - there is a distinct window for some books here!

Feed the mind weekend. I am sure the rest of the family will come up with something to upset my plan.

ResusciAnnie · 15/11/2025 09:59

Was up late (for me - 1am!) researching ADHD assessments and twin block braces (£££££!!) for DS 😥 SO I didn’t wake up until EIGHT THIRTY which hasn’t happened since I don’t know when! Epic!

Now sat in bed with DD watching Doc McStuffins and just had a bacon avo sandwich from DH.

Off to work for a couple of hours midday and going to a Traitors team game night thing this evening.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 15/11/2025 10:06

Just dropped off ds13 at his rugby meet. Walked the dogs 5kms. Shopping at supermarket. Home. Unpacked. Hung up washing. New load on. Put dry load away.

Now having poached eggs on toast. Doing wordle. Will go to gym in a bit and then stuff all the cut branches in the garden into bags for collection.

Zippedydodah · 15/11/2025 10:43

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s brightening up here after a very foggy start. Yesterday’s rain was torrential, lots of local flooding and driving to the next village this morning, to walk the dogs, the lanes were awash. It was like driving up a river where the many springs pour across the road.
We kept to lanes and footpaths this morning, the fields and bridleways are so muddy and slippery.
The washing is on, there will be ironing to do tomorrow, pizza and salad for dinner, cba to cook.
i will do some arty stuff this afternoon, I started a new painting yesterday evening and I need to decide on colours and if I’m going to do a background or not (possibly not).
I’m also still slowly knitting a mitre-square blanket, it’s slow going!

Kim82 · 15/11/2025 10:43

Good morning everyone, I was up at 7am and put the washer on straight away as I have a mountain of washing to do. Dh is at work as usual and I’m happy as dd21 arrived last night and is home to visit for the weekend - she was feeling homesick last week so here she is. Had a lovely surprise this morning too as I heard what I thought was dd21 coming downstairs at 8am but it was dd18 who arrived late last night after I’d gone to bed so I have them both home all weekend 😍

They’re all awake now (as well as dd11 and her friend who stayed over last night) and my house is a hub of chatting and noise which I am absolutely loving! I didn’t realise how much I missed having a full house.

I need to drop a coat of dh’s at the dry cleaners today, pick up some winter pyjamas for dd11 and pop to Sainsburys for some more food to feed the extra people this weekend but other than that I’ll just be spending time with the kids. We’re having an early tea tonight of Swedish meatballs, mash and veg then ds24 and his partner are coming round and we’re all taking a trip to Bents garden centre and looking at all the Christmas trees and lights, etc. and we’ll get cake and hot chocolate while we’re there. It’s a Christmas tradition that we’ve always done and this weekend is the only chance we have to do it this year while they’re all home. I’m a very happy mum today and can’t wait to spend time with them all together.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/11/2025 10:46

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I have been waiting for you!

I've had a busy week, for me, so I'm glad of some downtime today.
Monday - swimming and blood test, followed by an unexpected PIP telephone assessment.
Tuesday - theatre (The Horne Section). Some batch cooking
Wednesday - small supermarket shop
Thursday - hospital appointment. Some batch cooking
Friday - visit to antiques warehouse (short and unfruitful) and lunch in a cafe, while our cleaner was doing her stuff. I was so exhausted afterwards I went straight to bed!

I am glad of some downtime today. Mr Dilemma is re-grouting the kitchen floor at the moment, or rather he has started re-grouting. It's a lot to do, he has myasthenia gravis (luckily caught early due to my identification of neurological symptoms, so not severe at all) which makes him tire easily and he is 71, so it's going to take a while and I'm worried he won't be able to manage it all. He is so determined to be a man and to look after me he doesn't always realise his own limitations. This is a job for which we have been looking for professionals to do for nearly a year, without any luck.

I don't have any particular plans for today, but I will probably move some summer clothes into the spare room and sort out some things I don't wear any more to go to charity.

I'm cooking this evening, stir fry which is quick and easy, and which I can prepare in advance.

On the subject of cooking - one of my batch cooking sessions was to make a beef and fennel casserole. I did it in the slow cooker - it should have been delicious.... It just isnt! Does anyone know how I can rescue it? It has £20 worth of beef in it so I don't want to waste it....

Tangerinesattack · 15/11/2025 11:03

Morning all. It's cold and bright here. I'm snuggled up with DS on the sofa as he watches a YouTube video about aquariums. He's claiming illness but we'll see if that continues once I turn YouTube off! He's a bit ratty though. DH is away to get the week's shop. He's on call today so we don't know what his day will look like. He wants to do some work on our house today if he gets time. I'm still struggling with my health just now so I've not got too much on the cards apart from a massage this afternoon. I'd like to do a bit of Christmas planning though as I feel it creeping up! Korean brisket for dinner tonight and a few more episodes of Will Trent. I'm almost finished a cross stitch project so might try and get that done. Have a good day everyone.

Ijwwm · 15/11/2025 11:04

Am currently scrolling on here with large boy cat on my lap, love it when he settles down for cuddles. Smaller girl cat is curled up in the bed at the top of Cat Kingdom tower.

Have been having a big garden transformation done over the last 4 months and finally got the last building materials off the lawn on Thursday. Was hoping to do a bit of actual gardening today, but after yesterday’s rain it’s a boggy mess out there. Instead I’ll do a bit of housework, change my bedding as I’ve got a new brushed cotton bed set and sheet, get some items ready to drop off at a charity shop in the week and put together the pressure washer that arrived yesterday for my new patio area.

Dinner tonight is very easy - pesto chicken pizza from M&S which I thought was pretty reasonable at £3.75. Will have with some red wine while continuing to work my way through Dexter on Netflix.

JudgeBread · 15/11/2025 11:08

Morning all!

I'm just about to unpack the food delivery, I've had a lazy morning in bed because I had a very long tedious week in work and felt I deserved it 😁

Not got much on today, the weather is miserable so I think it's a day for staying holed up indoors. About to put a pork shank in the slow cooker for tea, going to do a sort of lazy BBQ thing with cheesy rolls, coleslaw, sweetcorn etc.

Only other job for the day is digging out the Christmas stockings which I have once again hidden so well they are completely lost to time and space.

FoxRedPuppy · 15/11/2025 11:13

Morning. I’m pretty new to these threads, but I love them!

Lie in and coffee and now going to take dog for a walk and then go for a run myself. Then plan on comfy clothes and reading, cups of tea and maybe a film for the rest of the day! Have promised dc we can have homemade pizza tonight so will have to do the dough at some point.

FayKnights · 15/11/2025 11:18

Yay! You are here.
I checked at 9am but couldn’t see my favourite thread, but here you all are.. 😮‍💨

The dogs have been walked and are at the groomers for a couple of hours, so just having a quick bath before heading back to get them. Have managed to fit in a quick cafe breakfast with DH too.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 2, then back for a tidy up before the cleaner comes on Monday.

Have a lovely day everyone x

gingercat02 · 15/11/2025 11:19

Morning all
Lovely lie in this morning. Didn't get.up until 9:40. Only having breakfast now, watching Saturday Kitchen. DH is gaming, DS is asleep as he was at an 18th birthday party last night.
It's a miserable day here, grey, cold and windy, so volunteering for a couple of hours this afternoon will be fun 🌬🌫🌧🦭
Need to pick up a small click and collect shop on my way home.
Think it's a light the fire, strictly and wine kind of evening. DH will be watching the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 football. Who knows DS plans.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 15/11/2025 11:25

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I was up late for me. I still managed two coffees and a slice of toast. Then stripped the bed and washed all the whites. While that was on, I went to Tesco to get some birthday presents for ds and dgs2 who share a birthday date this week. I'm not driving far and Tesco was the most accessible. Anyway it's done, home for a cuppa and a scone while the washing is in the tumble dryer and the dishwasher runs.
Soon I'll clean the bathroom, polish and hoover and maybe iron.
Enjoy your day all.

Peridot1 · 15/11/2025 11:43

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I slept in a bit this morning till almost 8.30. Got up and had a cup of tea and then went to the supermarket. We are having our neighbours over tonight for dinner so I needed to get some stuff. Bought myself an almond croissant while there and I have just had that with another cup of tea.

A bit (lot) pee’d off with DH as he didn’t do the dishwasher while I was out. For some reason that really annoys me. I’m very tempted to ignore it all and do everything else that needs doing. He did open up some lights that will be installed outside next week. Which have been sat here for weeks so could have waited till tomorrow. And he sorted out his Amazon deliveries that arrived last night. His priorities are a mystery to me.

I need to tidy the kitchen/sitting/dining areas, vacuum, dust etc. And the utility room. And hall way. And do laundry. Etc etc.

Redhairandhottubs · 15/11/2025 11:46

Morning. I’m sat on the sofa finishing a coffee and scrolling on Mumsnet. I’ve been looking after a friend’s dog and he had me up at 7. I took him for an early walk then came home and blitzed upstairs so the bathroom and my bedroom and are nice and clean.

My partner’s coming over in an hour or so, we’re going to go to the gym and then maybe for a long dog walk in the woods (if the rain holds off).

DS is in my bed still, I expect he’ll go to the gym and then he’s watching the boxing later.

Not sure what I’ll do this evening. I’m quite tired so TV and an early night sounds appealing.

Peridot1 · 15/11/2025 11:46

Well I take it back. A bit. He has just figured out I’m annoyed I think and is doing the dishwasher!

mamaduckbone · 15/11/2025 11:48

Good morning (just) @lucysmam and all.
I had a nice little lie in with Dh and tea in bed this morning - my running friend is poorly so I gave myself the morning off too.
Had a walk into town to get bread and have a coffee with Dh then came back for nice brunch - poached eggs, mushrooms and avocado.
We were supposed to be watching ds2 play rugby but he's woken up feeling ill so that's off. I'm going to use the time I've gained to catch up on some work, go to see my mum and start making Christmas lists. I think Dh is going to the pub to watch the England game, and ds won't be moving far - his tonsils are gigantic and he says everything aches.
Fire lit, glass of wine, second episode of Pluribus tonight I think.

Amy454 · 15/11/2025 11:51

Cheltenham races. Thankfully the weather is a bit better than yesterday.

We love Bents. I bet it will be crowded today!

Taking it easy today. Had a busy week with DD moving out to flat share with a friend. Washing is on and will nip out after lunch for some bits and pieces.

Lamb shanks for tea and then Strictly and wine.😊

Crunchymum · 15/11/2025 11:53

Hello to the Saturday crew.

DC2 had anther test for secondary school today so we were up and out at 8am. DC1 and DC3 went to their swimming lessons.

We were all home by 10.30 so I did bacon and sausage rolls.

Off to the Science Museum this afternoon and then we're getting Five Guys for dinner. This was DC1's birthday request. We're taking a few of his likeminded nerdy friends 😅

Home for an early night I hope and I've been up since 6am!!

Itworkedout · 15/11/2025 11:54

Morning all! I have been up showered and out with the dogs trying to avoid the rain! I have been to the supermarket for good brunch. We have been a house of illness this week but feeling better now. Dp has been away with work for too long but back now can’t wait to see him later!

squashyhat · 15/11/2025 12:06

Hello! I'm not often on these threads but hope you don't mind me joining in. Saturday Kitchen and a bit of household admin this morning. I've set up the family Secret Santa and bought some Christmas cards. DH and I are going to a local brewery/tap room for a walk and a burger while watching the England/All Blacks rugby this afternoon.

squashyhat · 15/11/2025 12:10

Oh, and starting the 3rd series of the Diplomat this evening. Completely bonkers but I've been a fully paid up member of the Alison Janney fan club since The West Wing! ❤
