hiddenbooks.nationalbooktokens.com/
It's time 🎵🎶 well nearly, 2 hours and change until it drops. It should be 10.30.
Its my favourite time of year but as usual I will probably be useless and depend heavily on mumsnetters for help to decipher.

I searched and couldn't find another thread if there's one already up and running ill delete this.

Edited for proper link

Okay, I have managed to solve many of your clues, for which I am grateful, the only ones I did direct from the image were the tattoo and the birds, and am still stuck on hair, seasons, vegetables, food games.

Please be clunkingly obvious and do not doubt my slow-wittedness.

The vegetables one describes the kind of person who might eat the items shown (it doesn't sound like it would be a book title; it's a single word).

The games - look at the editions. What do they all have in common? Think of a big book series.

PastaAllaNorma · 13/11/2025 16:50

Damn it! My very first guess was the correct one for the stupid laptop so I can only assume I had a typo as it said 'Nearly'. I didn't repeat it because I'd already tried it and spent FOREVER trying to get it.

Nope, right first time but I can't type accurately.

Just the calendar to get, having fruitlessly typed workdays, working week, weekdays, daytime, etc etc.

It sounds like the S word but with an R in it. The beginning of something is the "s", like a river ...

So I have that word! I've tried putting "The" in front of it, but nope...how many words is it?

Arlanymor · 13/11/2025 16:52

drspouse · 13/11/2025 11:13

I keep getting "nearly" for the bottom right of the bookcase and I've tried plural, singular, with or without an article, comparative and superlative adjective, it's definitely a shorter title as if I add words it just goes on to "that's not it, try again". I even tried extra punctuation.

Try going on the Waterstones website and entering in the main word and see what comes up... that's how I got it.

suki32 · 13/11/2025 16:38

Why can't I get the board games one?!

What physical sensation do all the boardgames' names evoke?

PegDope · 13/11/2025 16:56

@ThrowAway987654321 it has two words, no "the/a".

The first word is the "s" word and the second word is the generic name for how it is written on the screen.

suki32 · 13/11/2025 16:56

D'oh! Got it them all now! Thanks!

TheBirches · 13/11/2025 16:56

PegDope · 13/11/2025 16:37

Thank you! I got the safe one.

Now just the painting but the clues are not helping 😬

No, I had decided that the pyramids were key to the location, or the author's nationality or something, but nope. Actually, it's not a great visual clue, because there's no perspective in the painting. Look at the house at the bottom. You'd normally expect a river to be at ground level too, wouldn't you? But this river isn't, it's ...?

DeanElderberry · 13/11/2025 16:57

Still stuck on hair, vegetables (I think if it's one word I may need it spelled for me, I've tried herbivore, vegan . . .) and seasons

PegDope · 13/11/2025 16:58

@DeanElderberry you're almost there with the vegetables ... herbivore, vegan and ....

Edited to add that you often see it as dietary choice on a menu.

What would a vegan who ate dairy and eggs be?

Vintage53 · 13/11/2025 16:59

Now got laptop, stars girl's hair and vegetables. Still struggling on the others.

DeanElderberry · 13/11/2025 16:59

and by the way, for me the EFFING calendar is filled out the exact reverse of how it needs to be for the clue to work.

SaratogaFilly · 13/11/2025 17:00

I still need pyjamas, hair , seasons, blanket and the books on the side table!! Driving me crazy!

DeanElderberry · 13/11/2025 17:00

Thank you! Why no eggs on the book cover pray tell?

Hair? Seasons?

You're on the right track. A person who has a 9-5 weekday job and is is trying to express when they are free to do something might say 'I'm free X and Y'?

Blanket is a book for little children by an author who died this year.

This is one of the many mysteries of this year's offering.

PegDope · 13/11/2025 17:04

@TheBirches thank you but that is a similar clue as others have given and it's not helping me 😂I have tried combinations of river, up, north etc. but am getting nowhere.

It's the last one I need to get!

DeanElderberry · 13/11/2025 17:05

Side table books - two words repeated that describe the subjects.

TheBirches · 13/11/2025 17:05

DeanElderberry · 13/11/2025 17:01

Hair? Seasons?

What other word is a perfect homonym of 'hair'?
