Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd2's sat opposite me, and girl cat's mooching about the kitchen. Dd1's still in bed but could do with being up soon as she wanted to look at new phones before leaving for London this afternoon.

We have absolutely no plans for the day! Dd1 wants to look at phones, then needs to pack the things she's taking back with her. Dd2 wants to carry on her exam prep and revision, and needs to finish off her bedroom.

I'm going to pack a Vinted parcel, look at phones with dd1, maybe have a wander to the locker with the parcel and drop dd at the station.

Not a clue what's for tea yet 🤔. Maybe sausages & chips with some sort of veg and Yorkshire puddings. I'll have to actually defrost sausages though!

This evening will most certainly be early showers, and early nights all round, ready for work & school tomorrow.

What about all of you? 😊

Getting ready for DD’s birthday party this afternoon. I’m quite excited and looking forward to decorating the hall 😊

PermanentTemporary · 09/11/2025 09:49

Good morning! Hope the gig was good.

I’ve had my first coffee in bed and am trying to make myself have a shower before catching the bus with dp to the museum, there are two exhibitions we want to see. I e got to do a couple of hours’ work this afternoon and then probably baked potatoes for tea, neither of us feels like cooking much.

troppibambini6 · 09/11/2025 09:52

Morning lucysmam
I’m just finishing off my first coffee. It’s been an unusually slow start to the day as we have struck lucky with sports fixtures and the first isn’t til 11.30!

Although it was slightly spoiled by a poorly pup this morning who managed to snaffle a load of things he shouldn’t last night which resulted in a poorly tummy over night so that wasn’t the nicest start to the day.

I’ve got two netbalL matches with Dd. One not to far but one of the other side of Cheshire so a full day.
I will probably put something in the slow cooker for later as won’t be around to make anything.

Feeling a bit sad at the moment so will be trying to find some small positives in the day. So far I have a lie in, some lovely autumn sunshine and the lovely colours of the leaves in my garden.

Thislittlekitten · 09/11/2025 09:59

Morning @lucysmam and Sunday gang.

I was up earlier to feed pets, sort DS for his club and wash all the dishes. Back in bed with a slightly stinky pup! He had a mucky walk with DD yesterday and I think a bath is in order!

@troppibambini6 I actually
feel sad too just now and am trying to
not let it drag me down. There’s not one thing in particular. I like your small pleasures idea.

Today will be a day of mum taxi, shopping and lots of ironing. Need to think about tea.

Topsy44 · 09/11/2025 10:11

After getting up at 6, I actually went back to sleep and then didn’t get up until 9 which in the midst of the menopause is unheard of for me.

DD is recovering from a sore throat bug so we’re just taking it easy today,

I need to get hoovering and bathrooms cleaned today plus a bit of ironing for school/work tomorrow and check DD hasn’t got any homework to do.

Will call my elderly Mum in a bit for a good chinwag.

A roast for tea, then Strictly and boiling a load of kettles for DD’s bath as boiler has broken (plumber coming round tomorrow afternoon). Hope all have good Sundays!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 09/11/2025 10:22

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast. The dishwasher is on and I've been to Aldi to stock up for the week. I've added some stocking fillers for dd, Dsil and ds. Despite their advanced ages, they still like a stocking. I also picked up Christmas cards and tags and a gift for dgs2 so a good shop. The food is all put away. All I need to do is cook the gammon and do a small ironing. Enjoy your day all.

PearlTeapot · 09/11/2025 10:27

I'm on my 4th week in hospital. I went for a 30 min walk around the ward in circles with my headphones listening to Taylor Swift's new album loudly. It's good! So catchy!

Will now have a shower, might go crazy and wash my hair, who knows? I have been a total skank since I've been here.

Roast for lunch (which is actually nice) and I'm going to start watching Slow Horses. That's my plan for today- watch that whilst colouring in.

Peridot1 · 09/11/2025 10:39

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

@PearlTeapot - you must be going stir crazy after so long in hospital. Will you get to go home soon?

Im still fighting off the flu I had this week so nothing much planned today. DH started it yesterday too although he doesn’t seem to be too bad. Although he went to bed before 7. I was in bed before 8.

Anyway - plans are some laundry when DS brings his down. I’ve done the dishwasher while my toast was doing. Had tea and toast for breakfast. Nothing much else planned except maybe finishing my book. Am reading a book called Before Dorothy which is about Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Well her aunt really and her background. Some references through the book to things from The Wizard of Oz.

Roast pork for dinner.

Rainbow1235 · 09/11/2025 11:02

devildeepbluesea · 09/11/2025 11:07

Morning all.
I was up by 7 and out with the dogs. Then I did my weights workout despite REALLY not wanting to, but unfortunately work tomorrow means that will have to be my day off.
I've had 4 coffees and some brekkie. Now waiting for DD to get ready so we can go to the designer outlet centre. This avo will be another dog walk, and tea will be chicken in white wine sauce.

Whatnowsheila · 09/11/2025 11:07

Sat on sofa with second cup of tea. Will spend majority of day lounging here, playing video games and watching tv/ reading. Cottage pie and cheesecake for dinner (M&S) and will watch a film with my daughter.

Ijwwm · 09/11/2025 11:08

I’ve been taking things fairly easy. Had COVID for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it’s really wiped me out.

Most of the morning has been scrolling on here and plenty of cuddles with the cats. Am heading out to the garden shortly to use my new leaf blower. Have got about 30 billion leaves from a huge ash tree to clear up, it looks a right mess out there and clearing most of them will make a huge difference. Am almost at the end of having a large patio and raised flowerbed done, so will maybe clean the slabs once the leaves are gone. Can then get the garden furniture back in place.

Late afternoon will be my weekly catch-up call with my sister. Then for dinner, I’ve treated myself to a piece of fillet steak which I’ll have with mushrooms and French fries. Then a fairly early night ready for the guys back here in the morning to carry on with the patio and new fencing.

Have a lovely day all.

MinnieMountain · 09/11/2025 11:10

I’ve been to Pilates and had a gentle swim afterwards. DH is currently swimming with DS as hockey is off today.

We’re having roast chicken for lunch, then some friends are coming over with their DC for a drink.

GrimDamnFanjo · 09/11/2025 11:23

I will be at the village Cenotaph later after the annual commemoration service. I also have a few hours of work to do and have to get ready for a couple of days away.

DilemmaDelilah · 09/11/2025 11:27

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I have only been awake about half an hour as I took a pill last night. Our late afternoon nap meant that I was still very awake at 11pm so I succumbed and took an antihistamine.

My second daughter has, finally, let me know what she wants for Christmas... I have been asking her for ideas for ages and she has finally come up with one. She is visiting in less than 3 weeks so I need to get it, and wrap it, ready for her to take home with her. However I am in a dilemma... She has asked for an all singing, all dancing, hair drying system but, as she knows we have a strict budget for presents, the one she has chosen is from China and doesn't have great reviews regarding delivery, returns etc. It is also at the top of our budget so I can't find anything that I can buy from a UK shop that has all the same features within our budget. I'm going to have to get it aren't I - which means it probably won't arrive until after Christmas and I will have to send it by post which will add to the cost and take it over budget.... I know I sound mean but I try to be scrupulously fair about presents for both my daughters and, now that I'm not getting paid any more and I only have my work pension as I'm still too young for my state pension, I have to be careful.

Hey ho - it's not so much in the brand scheme of things. We're having a pump fitted to the hot water supply which will cost a lot more.... (but that is exactly why we have to stick to a budget...)

Anyway, that is all a preamble to say why were not doing what I had planned to do this morning (visiting an antiques centre to buy said DDs present). So - we are going to set up the walking pad I bought last week so that I can exercise more, I am going to use said pad, and the laundry needs doing. Not quite as much fun.

Morning all, we move house this week so the house is in an unbelievable state! Almost done packing but then it’s all the bits that hang around and need sorting, plus cleaning to do.

Was up early and treated myself to 30mins with my book and a coffee before facing the chaos. Have unpacked the dishwasher and put it on a clean, then tackled the oven which was in an unbelievable state 😳.

Since then I’ve been packing boxes with the princess diaries on the telly as entertainment. Now going to pause for tea and toast, then nip out in search of a couple more boxes for some awkward shaped stuff. This afternoon I need to go around with the drill and take things off the wall, then I think I’ll have pie, chips and pea for tea 😋

Nigellastwinklylights · 09/11/2025 11:47

I’m still in bed. Flicking between Mumsnet, Pinterest and the good food website. Looking for inspiration for our Christmas Eve family gathering.
Dh is out all morning. Youngest DC ( adult) has just gone to work, so the house is quiet and calm. Bliss! I love lazy Sunday mornings.

frozendaisy · 09/11/2025 12:15

Going out for grandma’s birthday late lunch at favourite local restaurant

starving ourselves until then

and trying a new philosophy “slow laundry” as there’s slow everything else!

Zippedydodah · 09/11/2025 12:16

Good just-about-morning, I nearly forgot to look for you @lucysmam
We had a reasonably early dog walk from the village, along lanes and back across the fields. It’s Pret muddy and very slippery in places but peaceful and a nice way to start Remembrance Sunday.
We stopped for a coffee and hot beef roll as people were arriving for the ceremony at the village war memorial, then watched as the local regiment marched into the village square. Very moving and poignant especially as we have a number of war graves in the churchyard.
Came home and I’ve done the ironing, sorted out dinner and now the dogs want their food too!
Nothing planned for this afternoon, it’s raining so hopefully it’ll stop for the next dog walk.

gingercat02 · 09/11/2025 12:18

Didn't quite make the morning, but I've been up since 9am.
Piyo class, now showered and dressed. Just about to make some lunch and off to my volunteering role at 1:30.
Might pop in to see my mum, and then home for the F1.
Meatballs and garlic bread for tea, and a glass of wine while I ponder the car shortlist. Need to test drive on Tuesday and make a decision as my lease car goes back on the 19th.
Back to reality tomorrow, but only a 4 day week, so that's nice.

JudgeBread · 09/11/2025 12:20

I'm lightly hungover after my pals engagement party last night where there were too many fun cocktails to choose from so I opted for the tapas approach and had one of each.

So I'm now on coffee number 3 and haven't eaten anything yet, I've got a pork shank in the slow cooker for dinner and I plan to sit here and do as little as humanly possibly for the rest of the day. I have a festive embroidery project I started with very good intentions in early October thinking I'd have loads of time to finish it... I'm not even half way through so I might have a bash at that for a few hours.

liveforsummer · 09/11/2025 12:27

Trying to find the motivation to drag myself out the door for a very soggy afternoon at the stables. Seem to have acquired 7 horses to sort when we only actually own one (DC’s pony not mine) . Was working last night (2nd job I work daytime Monday- Friday) so didn’t get to sleep til about 4am so could really do with staying cozy but I’m sure the fresh air will do us good. Will pick up stuff for a roast on the way home to make up for it too

Kim82 · 09/11/2025 13:19

Good afternoon everyone, I’m a bit late to the thread today. I’ve had such a nice, quiet relaxed morning just me and dh. Dd18 ended up going into town with ds24 around 10pm last night and she stayed at his house so we have no dc here at the moment. I had toasted tea cakes for breakfast and dh made himself some sausage sandwiches then I had a really long, hot everything shower and got dressed into some comfy clothes. I love a lazy Sunday.

I could do with popping to Aldi for a few bits but it’s raining and I don’t want to leave the house. If the rain stops I’ll go but if not I’ll go on my way home from work tomorrow.

This afternoon I plan on changing my bed covers then just sitting. I might read, I might just scroll on my phone. Dd11 is due home from her sleepover around 3pm and I’m not sure what time dd18 will get home. We’re having a roast for tea then I’ll iron DD’s school uniform and my work clothes and sprawl on the sofa again watching tv until early to bed for us all ready for another full on week as usual.

Crunchymum · 09/11/2025 13:42

Happy Sunday all, I missed posting yesterday as we had a busy one. Today is a lot quieter.

So far kids have done most of their homework, food shopping arrived and was put away, cat litter trays have had their bi-weekly deep clean, we've been out to the shops in person as DC2 told me it's her teachers birthday and she wanted to buy her some chocolates (wish she'd told me and I could have added it to actual food shop but hey ho)

Have just done lunch and we're about to head out for a canal walk, although DC1 is staying home as he has a friend coming over soon. We'll nip into the local nature reserve as well, they do the most amazing cakes so it would be rude not to stop for coffee and cake (kids can have a hot chocolate or babycinno)

Already have dinner prepped (big pot of bolognese from Friday) so just need to do some pasta and salad later. Also have some homemade garlic bread from Friday too!

Going to get some board games out later and have an early night. We have another busy week ahead, including an overnight hospital admission for DC3 (planned, she had one annually).
