Had thought I would get DD tickets to an Arsenal home game for Christmas but that seems an impossible task! So my next quest is a recommendation for a Michelin star restaurant in London. Are there any that are particularly recommended? I think not 'fine dining' types though.

What time of day? lunch or pre theatre often have good deals with set menus?

What area of london, what type of food?

I recommend downloading the Michelin app, and use the view on a map function to view restaurants in the area you want.

You pretty much need to know a season ticket holder to get Arsenal tickets.

How old is dd? Do you want somewhere Instagram able?

thecalmsea · 05/11/2025 09:50

Family of Arsenal supporters here and yes only way they get to a game is via a season ticket holder (have all had them for decades) or the odd corporate box 'bring your kid' thing.

Time Out lists and reviews all the restaurants with a Michelin star:

Thank you everyone! She is mid 20s, not an Instagram type and is living in East London. The Time Out is brilliant!

Maybe Brat? I haven't been but it has a star and the location is good for her.

BTW I'm not just randomly posting links, I was just browsing the Michelin guide and was looking for places I think my mid 20s kids would like and that aren't terrible to get to for your dd!

I went to Row on 5 this year for my birthday (Jason Atherton & Spencer Metzger’s place) and it was outstanding, it is fine dining but I didn’t find it pretentious at all (they brought me out a mini birthday cake in a musical dish playing Celebrate by Kool And The Gang!) and the food and service was incredible

My absolute favorite Michelin starred restaurant is Plates. It’s vegan- but I am neither vegan nor vegetarian and it’s some of the best food I’ve ever had. Going for the 4th time soon!

Chez Bruce on Wandsworth Common. Gorgeous food, relaxed and friendly vibe with young staff.

I was going to recommend Cornerstone but looks like it closed down last year.

You can get reasonably priced tickets to the women’s games at the emirates now if that might be of interest? Maybe to combine with the dinner.

We went to Oma at weekend, amazing food, definitely not pricey and lovely staff.

I went for the first time last week and second this, the food was astonishing. I’m very jealous you managed to get 4 reservations, I sweated blood for just one.

Murano, Angela Hartnett' s restaurant. Lovely place and food but relaxed, not snooty. Good value for fine dining. I've been several times and taken teenage DC and we've always enjoyed it.

We've been to Gymkana a few times and always enjoyed it. It's like Dishoom, but way way better. It's pretty chilled apart from a few tourists who put on airs. There's a Nigerian restaurant that got a star recently-ish that I'd like to try

I first got on the waiting list when he was on GBM before Plates opened!. I agree-getting a table is practically a full time job…but you need another full time job to save up for it!🤣

Do people know that Gymkana now do curry sauces? You can buy them online. They’re expensive-but really really good.

Galvin Le Chapelle was incredibly good, choose a tasting menu so lots of options and flavours.
