Have mushroom gummies made me haunted?

letstrythis · 03/11/2025 07:32

I’ve been taking Feel Gud for a couple of months and I do find that I’m less overwhelmed and more focussed. It’s subtle but I notice the difference when they run out. I am peri and not on HRT so I’m taking lots of supplements alongside.
Just recently switched to Ankhway because - Instagram - and they are nice - they taste better, I like the more sustainable packaging, I feel good already but I’m aware that could definitely be the placebo effect.

The issue is that the last two nights I’ve been have audio hallucinations and this is a completely new thing for me.
I heard a dog barking in the room and also someone opening the bedroom door and coming in last night along with some other less definable sounds.
Have the ankhway gummies opened the doors of perception and now I’m experiencing other dimensions? Or ghosts? Ghost dogs.
What is going on here? Or is it just coincidence because it was Halloween on Friday?

Just wondering - lightheartedly - if anyone else has had any unexpected side effects with functional mushrooms?

I took them; they gave me digestive issues.

@SauceySally yes Jesus cast demons out of loads of people, it was a big part of his ministry, there are many examples and I’ve both seen it and been subject to it myself. These nasty things haven’t just quietly buggered off since Jesus’s day unfortunately. I grew up in a domestic violence house and many years later, in my 20’s what turned out tb the spirit of violence manifested and threw me to the floor and pinned me. Thankfully I have relatives who are right hard metal battleaxes and dispatched it when they came after my DH rang for help. Was totally fine after, free, it got kicked out for good. Lol I know what you mean about people(!) but unfortunately we all have evil in our hearts so if he banished the assholes we’d (all) have to go too.

You prob don’t want them but here is a few examples:
A man in the Capernaum synagogue, the two demon-possessed men in the land of the Gadarenes, and a crippled woman. Other instances include a demon-possessed boy and a Gentile woman's daughter. These events are recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, such as in Mark 1:21-28, Matthew 8:28-34, and Luke 4:31-37.

New Testament verses:
Capernaum Synagogue
Mark, Luke
Mark 1:21-28; Luke 4:31-37
Two demon-possessed men
Matthew, Mark, Luke
Matthew 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-17; Luke 8:26-37
The Syro-Phoenician woman's daughter
Matthew, Mark
Matthew 15:21-28; Mark 7:24-30
A demon-possessed boy
Matthew, Mark, Luke
Matthew 17:14-20; Mark 9:17-29; Luke 9:38-47
A crippled woman
Luke
Luke 13:10-13
Mary Magdalene

Mark 16:9; Luke 8:2
A blind and mute man
Matthew, Luke
Matthew 12:22-23; Luke 11:14-15

Ahh, fond memories of being chased by a gorilla near there.....

OP, there are some far-out replies on here, but I think what is happening to you is rather more pedestrian. Various herbs and fungi can have multiple effects, some medicinal, and some psychoactive (and potentially able to cause the effects you mention). I have googled all of the mushers in your current supplement and current knowledge suggests none are psychoactive, but that's only current knowledge and it will represent a very broad brush approach to the topic - for example, the experiences of a relatively small selection of people who have ingested these mushers will be considered, and 'outliers', potentially like yourself, may not be included. It's similar to the databases on allergens - the common ones like soy and maize will be in there, but probably not some of the less common ones.

I have had severe hallucinations (spatial, spinning room effect etc.) from sleeping on a hops-filled pillow and also from ingesting melatonin (both to improve sleep). No one else I know who has used these has had the same response. In the end I had to listen to my body and stopped taking them. I did find other solutions that helped my sleep, without creating the spinning room hallucinations. Everyone is different.

fan783 · 03/11/2025 18:02

Why would you continue to take anything that causes auditory hallucinations OP? These things are poorly regulated so who knows what exactly you're taking. Who knows how these could affect you long term.

Not sleeping and severe stress can also cause auditory hallucinations as can antidepressants in rare cases, but what exactly are you taking these 101 unregulated instagram supplements for OP? Why not see a doctor if you have issues and get something that is at least regulated?

Every now and then though you hit MN gold and remember why you still come on here. This is one of those! 😵‍💫

Werthazo3 · 03/11/2025 18:04

Fair enough I accept the OP might be having side effects and it might not be spiritual in the way my experiences were, but I do believe substances can open doors that are harmful and allow entry to things.

I’d love to normalise the supernatural, it might be seen as ‘far out’ but really it’s entirely pedestrian in how common it is, happening all the time around us just most pp are unaware of it.

fan783 · 03/11/2025 18:05

Terrytheweasel · 03/11/2025 15:41

I’m afraid to say, they open pathways that you really don’t want to open. Alcohol and cigarettes can do it too, but much more likely with drugs.
I’ve had these experiences over many years and it became really bad until I stopped everything and started praying. It started small, a voice, covers being whipped off in the night and then it became so bad, I was being attacked and had scratches on my body in places very hard to reach places (on my back)
If you do an internet search, you’ll find quite a bit of information on this topic.
You can rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ and it will help. I would stop it all together personally.
I’m a pretty rational and logical person and was atheist until this started happening!

You really think it was praying rather than stopping drugs that helped you?

The OP does not need a religious intervention, she just needs to stop taking these unregulated supplements that could contain anything and that she found on SM.

FlexiSadie · 03/11/2025 18:09

Demons?! 😂😂😂

Koolandorthegang · 03/11/2025 18:11

Well, that escalated quickly

EngineerIngHappiness · 03/11/2025 18:18

They gave me gut ache so I stopped. Also night sweats. It was slightly reminiscent of side effects I had when taking actual magic mushrooms in my youth. Can't remember if there was audio hallucination, I think I had one or two when falling asleep.

I'd be concerned it's linked to stress on the liver.

Fibrous · 03/11/2025 18:20

Be careful where you get your herbal medicines from. I prefer to pick my own - my foraging skills are more reliable than unregulated internet ones.

having said that, I trust Napiers in Edinburgh.

Werthazo3 · 03/11/2025 18:20

Poor fred.

It’s not escalation really, just a different take on why OP is having unwelcome visitors at night. We are allowed to have different views and anyway I was mostly responding to @Terrytheweasel who’s experiences mirrored mine.

For the OP it could just be side effects and I really hope it is.

PearlClutzsche · 03/11/2025 18:24

My experience of taking mushroom supplements and CBD etc. was that they did bugger all. However, when I was perimenopausal (and going through a stressful time) I started having hypnogogic and hypnopompic auditory hallucinations, and sleep paralysis. I, too was woken by phantom barking dogs!

But HRT and my stressful situation resolving itself now mean I sleep like a baby. I also rate magnesium as good for both sleep and focus.

EmeraldRoulette · 03/11/2025 18:27

@letstrythis thank you.

Btw I have experienced exploding head syndrome a couple of times. I didn't think I was under stressed at the time so it was a puzzle. One time I was woken up by such a loud bang, I asked the neighbours if they had heard it and if there had been an explosion on the street or something.

it was then that someone explained exploding head syndrome to me. I thought he was taking the mick! 😂

Namechangewksjhsksjsv · 03/11/2025 18:28

In gonna bet it's the reishi. I have a different mad response but don't do well on that oh no

CharlotteLightandDark · 03/11/2025 18:37

I’ve been partaking in mushrooms of the illegal variety for many years and never experienced anything remotely demonic or negative, if anything a sense of light and peace mostly. I don’t know much about the supplements though.

OP you won’t get too many sensible responses here although I appreciate the list of verses above thank you 🙏🏼 Reddit is more balanced and knowledgeable on substances questions
