5pm (GMT) if you need somewhere else to be. (The arse licking will be off the scale)

FIFA invited President Donald Trump to address the World Cup 2026 draw Friday after he receives the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize, per multiple sources briefed on the event’s planning.
According to plans formulated in recent weeks, Trump will be given time to speak on stage during the almost two-hour event at the Kennedy Center in Washington as first reported by Politico.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will also be present at the draw. The most attention, however, will be afforded to Trump, who has been given a couple of minutes to talk. The organization is unlikely to be overly stringent on limiting Trump.
(NYT)

Trump will accept the award and deliver remarks from the stage."The president is the consummate host,” Andrew Giuliani said in an interview on Thursday before the draw. “Is there any other president that can handle inviting the world in and being a better host than Donald J. Trump?”
(Politico)

It's no great loss to not watch the England games next year. I don't particularly feel like being counted as tacitly approving of that which I don't.

Anyone want to guess whose son lil Andy is?

Amusingly, SCOTUS has opened the door to mass gerrymandering in their ruling to allow Texas to do so

https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/virginia-trump-redistricting-maps-don-scott-video-b2878811.html

That was my first thought too. If Texas is allowed to do it, so are all the other states!

It seems that the post powerful man in the world hates hates being called Sleep Don Trump.

Out of respect, can I ask that people avoid using the term in posts and emails and messaging as that could be picked up by the "AI" agents that are tasked with inventing the modern world.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

BREAKING on MS NOW:

Brian Cole Jr., the suspect accused of being the Jan. 6 pipe bomber, confessed to agents that he planted the bombs and has indicated he supported President Trump, according to two people familiar with his interview.

SCOTUS can restrict a decision. IANAL so I don't know the specific hows and whys, but I've seen it done before. They make the decision stipulating it affects only XX area and does not create a precedent for any other area.

Texas is covered by four federal judicial districts and those districts are covered by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals (Tx, Ms, La). Technically SCOTUS could restrict their decision to any or all of the districts or the 5th circuit, thereby NOT creating a precedent for the recent passage of Prop 50 here in CA nor for any of the currently pending lawsuits in NY OH NC and SC. IF they restrict to 5th circuit it could affect the pending suit filed in La (La vs Callais).

I have no idea if the TX decision has been restricted. I suppose it would depend <insert cynicism> on whether or not an unrestricted decision would help the GOP or hurt it.

In my former career we had times where a decision was made but it didn't affect our work because it only applied to a different area. Usually it was a certain judicial district, the one where the suit was filed. It tended to create 'issues' with the public because they'd storm in demanding the change and we'd have to tell them if they wanted XX, they'd have to move to YY.

Basically too many brown people...JD Vance/Stephen Miller on steroids.

They can FOTTFSOFATFOSM.

Can't read the article, but that's potentially really sinister.

Would I be right in thinking it's basically the White House-stamped version of what Elon Musk has been doing in appearing on a giant screen in the UK telling Brits we have to have his "race war"?

Saw this version of the Nativity on Facebook:

(by a Pennsylvania pastor called Jim Rigby)

3 WISEMEN KILLED ATTEMPTING TO ENTER U.S.
(Bethlehem) The 3 Wisemen were killed attempting to enter the U.S. early this morning. They were still hundreds of miles away from the actual border, but the White House determined there wasn't time to actually investigate their suspicions.
A White House spokesperson said, “We could tell from the satellite photos that these were bad people. They had gold (probably stolen), myrrh and something that was possibly fentanyl. It was hard to tell from the picture, but the President knew just enough to kill them without an actual investigation.”
A reporter then asked, “But what happens to the American principle that the accused are innocent until proven guilty and that everyone deserves a due process?”
The White House responded, “If we had to have trials for everyone the President accuses of a crime we wouldn’t have time to do anything else. The President needs to have the freedom to accuse people of crimes and then execute them on the spot. The President isn’t going to let a little thing like the Constitution prevent him from protecting the American people. You should be ashamed for even asking that question."
The spokesperson then continued, "For example, the President has now determined that Marjorie Taylor Greene is a traitor. Do you really want to tie the President’s hands if he needs to unilaterally bomb Georgia to stop this dangerous insurrection? Don’t you care about the American people?”
Also arrested were two immigrants named Joseph and Mary, an unnamed child, and an angel. The White House elaborated, “We can tell you that the two suspects were trying to check into a hotel. When asked if they were married, they responded that they were “betrothed.” We can’t have people flaunting Christian moral conventions at this sacred time of the year.
"The undocumented mother was also secretly recorded as saying “(God) has brought down rulers from their thrones, and has lifted up the humble. God has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.” That sounds like communism, pure and simple. These were probably Antifa terrorists."
The President stepped in, “I don’t know what these people have against Herod, but I can tell you this much- Herod is a very strong leader. He is very rich. Like me, he’s a genius at constructing fancy buildings. Bottom line, the President should be able to kill anyone he calls “terrorist” in order to protect the American people."
When asked why the angels were arrested, the Secretary of War said, “Peace on earth, good will to all” is a woke attack on warriors. “America First” is incompatible with international justice, or world peace. The President has warned that Christmas is a very dangerous time of the year. We are asking patriotic Americans to call the Office of Homeland Security and report anyone who looks like the foreigners in their nativity scene.

5% of people will vote for anything

(As an aside, 1 in 20 is a very interesting ratio in human interaction)

It's quite a creepy thing that so called peace prize

I would - intelligent, erudite, healthy dose of cynicism and sarcasm, critical of all manner of politicians. Sounds like a winner to me.

Voting that it's a good thing for Trump to get any kind of peace prize - well, that's more or less the opposite of all that.

DuncinToffee · 05/12/2025 18:43

He got a medal as well, for participating?

LlttledrummergirI · 05/12/2025 18:44

We put the draw on, watched a few minutes and gave up. It's the most dumbed down, overcomplicated boring and unprofessional pile of drivel I've seen for a long while.

It doesn't bode well for the tournament. Thank fuck I was still in work while the toddler got his special badge. Even dh who is a big football fan gave up.

Yes - weirdly it's giving me 'Alien' vibes...

(Apols to the sculptor.)

I watched some of the FIFA 'show' - unrelentingly toe-curlingly cringe. An audience of people men who just wanted them to get on with it and weren't there to party.
