Temperature inside your home today?

Hello,

I have been feeling a bit cold this morning and checked my indoor temperature gadget and it’s showing as 13.9 degrees. 9 degrees outside according to my weather app.

What’s the temperature in your home today and have you put the heating on?

I’m heading out shortly so not going to bother putting the heating on but if it continues like this later on may have to consider it.

I'm in an old cottage in S Wales. It's currently 20 degrees without the heating on.
Still waiting for the cold snap that usually happens.

Natsku · 18/10/2025 16:00

24 in the kitchen but the radiator there only works on full blast, the rest of the house is about 21 degrees. Outside is 4.4 (and it was below zero overnight) so yes, heating is on!

Ilikewinter · 18/10/2025 16:00

20 downstairs and 18 upstairs, but upstairs was 16 when I got up - no heating on yet but it does feel chilly when sitting for a while, I think that's cause we've been in the mod 20s all summer though.

Suzi7979 · 18/10/2025 16:49

22.5 no heating on yet.

Meadowfinch · 18/10/2025 16:53

17 degrees - no heating.

The chimney sweep is coming on Monday, and the log burner will be available from lunchtime onwards. The log shed is full so we'll be lovely & warm whatever the weather. 😊

My heating has been on since the start of September.

Oh no @SheSpeaks not you too. It’s been a chilly day today.

I hope you can warm up ok. Electric blankets are handy but didn’t expect to be bringing them out so soon.

Ours was 13 degrees until we lit the fire. It’s toasty now after we kept it going all afternoon!

GivingUpFinally · 18/10/2025 18:40

It was 16.5 in doors this morning. No heating on as we've been out all day. Come home and it's now 19.5. It feels a tad chilly and I would love to put the heating on but H and one dc are in shorts and t-shirts. I can't be bothered with the argument that will ensue.

They like it at 16/17, but I prefer an easy 22c. I don't like wearing layers and prefer to be comfortable in my own clothes without adding a jumper and a house coat.

YourWinter · 18/10/2025 18:43

It’s 16.1 indoors at the moment, 12.4 outside, and the heating is certainly not on. The door to the garden has been open since 0730 except for three dog-walks, I’ve just shut it and pulled the curtain across.

I’ll have a throw across my lap when I sit on the sofa after supper, a cat on my lap and a dog beside me. No need for additional heat!

Usually the cats get sulky when it drops below 10 degrees indoors, and that seldom happens even in a long cold spell.

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 18/10/2025 18:56

22 no heating on NE Scotland.

EasternStandard · 18/10/2025 19:15

21.1 no heating on, pretty mild here today

ShiftySquirrel · 18/10/2025 19:27

16.7 here in the living room, I've a tiny tot of brandy and got my fluffy hoody on so I don't feel so chilly now.

ConnivingLis · 18/10/2025 23:07

20.5. Had the heating on for half an hour a couple of evenings but not every day. Dehumidifier is definitely making it feel more comfortable, previous years it’s felt so cold and damp. Honestly can’t believe the difference it makes. I don’t have it on overnight so the mornings feel a bit more cold but once it’s got the humidity back down it’s fine.

soundsys · 18/10/2025 23:34

Bloody cold! The heating came on for the first time this year!

Sunnyside4 · 27/12/2025 08:53

Obviously slightly different each day, but it was 16.4c when I went to bed the other night. We don't have heating on at night, so cooler in the morning. I don't mind waking up to a cooler house as I find it more refreshing.

PersephoneParlormaid · 27/12/2025 08:55

No idea on temp as I’ve no way to check, but just clicked the thermostat up to 15 and the heating has come on. Cars are frozen outside this morning.

Sweetiedarling7 · 27/12/2025 09:00

20.5. I grew up in a freezing house and I never want to experience that again. I will boost it up higher if I feel the slightest bit chilly.

notagainyoufool · 27/12/2025 09:13

23 here. I’d hate to be cold in my own home. I don’t know anyone in real life that keeps their house as cold as some mumsnetters.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 27/12/2025 10:57

18.5. I put the heating on this morning as it was 17. 16.5 yesterday morning.

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2025 11:06

Currently in my bedroom and it’s 20, it’s the only room the heating is permanently switched off in as dh hates a warm bedroom, The window is open through the night but closed during the day when it’s cold like
it is today.
the rest of the house will be sitting at around 22, each room has underfloor heating and individual thermostats, I set my office to about 25 as I’m just sitting still and get freezing cold!
