Would you tell a colleague?

If their trousers were see through…
I don’t think she knows and nobody else has said anything. They’re black but you can see everything through them and I don’t know whether to tell her!

Yes, I would. As long as it's said kindly, if she doesn't know she'll be appreciative and if she does, she won't mind you saying.

PegDope · 18/10/2025 09:31

I would want to so badly but I wouldn’t have an idea about how to approach it.

Maybe you could say something subtle like "Oh, you're wearing those knickers again? Are they your lucky ones?"

I did this with a friend of mine and her leggings. She always wears black primark leggings. With short tops. They are completely see-through. She didnt take me on.

Halfquarterbag · 18/10/2025 11:43

Could it be deliberate: she just thinks the look suits her?

I don’t think so
they're like black flared leggings but you can see her bum/knickers because the fabric is stretched and it’s that v thin jersey, not sports leggings type

I would be mortified if someone said this to me and would feel like I was having the piss taken out of me.

OP, I had a very similar situation with a member of my team and I was asked to speak to them. It was an awful thing to have to do I I sweat buckets over it. In the end I just said something along the lines of 'you might already be aware and you look lovely, but do you know that your trousers are very revealing? I just wanted to make sure you are aware'. She wasn't at all aware and was mortified and grateful for being told.

This is terrible advice please don't do this. It'll look mean.

Floogal · 18/10/2025 21:13

Where I work, it's either women wearing see thru leggings exposing their briefs. Or thongs poking out their trousers. One of my male colleagues has VPL 😅😆

Caleb64 · 18/10/2025 21:14

Someone once told me my skirt was a bit see through. I knew! I was 18 and still had an awesome figure 😂 their boss should tackle this if they deem it appropriate, not you IMO.

I think this is a good way of telling her. It’s clear you’re not making fun and just genuinely want to be helpful

Gamerlady · 19/10/2025 00:13

Just tell her , im sure she'll thank you

suburberphobe · 19/10/2025 00:16

Does she work in a night club?

If not, she's weird.

I once did tell a colleague her trousers were see through. She didn’t believe me until I described the little pink roses on her knickers.

Then she had a very red face.

TigTails · 19/10/2025 00:30

Yes, discreetly and in private, ideally near the end of the day or before a break when she has the option to go home or change or cover then with something.

Moveoverdarlin · 19/10/2025 00:33

There was a hot young woman who worked in our office one summer. She wore white, linen, see-through trousers to work with a black thong underneath. She knew exactly what she was doing. All the blokes were physically drooling most days and all the women were rolling their eyes.

definitely not. I don’t think she has realised they’re see through

My friend did this at the gym, black leggings but you could see lumps bumps and knickers.. so I told her, I’d want to be told for sure!!

Lavender115 · 19/10/2025 00:50

I wouldn’t if it is a one-off.

greenbuckets · 19/10/2025 01:09

Might depend on the colleague. I work with people I would definitely say this to (and they would to me!) but I wouldn't pass that sort of comment to someone I was only acquaintances with

That would be an inappropriate workplace comment.

So can you see her knickers or her bum? Such a huge difference.

PloddingAlong21 · 19/10/2025 07:48

Just tell her in the loo or something one day when you cross paths and don’t make it a thing.

she would want to know.

don’t have her boss tell her as someone has suggested, now that’s weird and making a non-thing a big thing.

“I hope you don’t mind me saying, but I would want to know and I suspect you’re unaware, that your trousers are quite see through in certain lights. You of course look amazing, but thought I’d mention.”

done.

I was given this job when the male partners thought a receptionist with see through trousers lowered the tone.

At the time I was the first female partner with a male HR chap so I did the task whilst thinking that being a partner was not all it was cracked up to be.

Then I got to tell a secretary that she smelt - swore that I had been made a partner so they had someone "appropriate" to give this type of news.
