Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm currently laid in dd1's bed, waiting for her to make me a brew! She says she'll go at 9 🙄.

Plan for today is shower and pack - including some of dd's merch to take home and wash for her to bring back next weekend. Then head to Asda for some shopping for her. Depending on time, we'll see if there's time to head to Camden for a mooch of the market before coming back here to eat, grab my case and head to Kings Cross.

Dd2 hasn't done anything all weekend - she has an exam coming up so has spent the weekend prepping for that. Hopefully her dad's made sure she's had a break too!

When I get home, it'll be brew, shower, bed 💤 ready for work in the morning. Unpacking can happen tomorrow apart from my makeup bag and chargers.

What about all of you? 🙂

Puregoldy · 12/10/2025 09:19

Morning all! Yesterday was a busy one with a college visit for the eldest. Plus a catch up and lunch with family. So today is working from home and getting organised for the week. Just waiting on a food delivery so I should probably get out of bed. Non exciting day. May make chicken with red wine for dinner.

Kim82 · 12/10/2025 09:19

Good morning, sounds like you’ve had a lovely weekend. There’s just me and dh at home this morning, dd11 had a sleepover at her friend’s house so it’s lovely and peaceful.

I had a lie in until 8.45am which is unheard of for me so I must have needed it. Today’s plan is to wash the sofa cushions, go to the butchers, go and buy some curtains and a new curtain pole for the newly decorated bedroom - I managed to finish the painting yesterday - then we need to move our bed and belongings upstairs to our new room.

Tea is steak, jacket potatoes and salad then I need to iron school uniform and my work clothes, shower and plonk myself in front of the tv for a few hours before another early night.

Crunchymum · 12/10/2025 09:28

Nothing concrete planned yet.

Kids all doing their homework to get it out of the way and I'm just giving the cat trays their bi-weekly scrub.

Food shopping due in a bit and we'll probably head out to the park for an hour after lunch. DC1 is going to a friend's house for the afternoon.

Will roast a chicken for dinner but didn't really fancy a full on roast so may do it with mash and corn on the cob.

Early night hopefully.

Pretty boring day but we need a day like this after a manic week.

dicentra365 · 12/10/2025 09:37

Good morning all, off to take ds to his girlfriend’s house in a minute. They are going to an invertebrates show and need to get on the road. Then back home, have a shower and start off a beef stew for tonight. Dd has a friend over in the afternoon and I want to see if I can wash the lounge curtains, although I can’t find a label and now wondering if they might be dry clean only…

ViciousCurrentBun · 12/10/2025 09:43

Trying out a new Chinese restaurant in the city that is about 6 miles away with other couple friends. It was the Mid autumn festival on Monday, we are having a late celebration as my friends were working. My heritage is Chinese and they are from HK.

DH worked on the car yesterday but we fitted in an hours walk, a long dinner at home chatting about various things and some of a box set. I played Battlefield 6 as well, released on Friday it had the highest number of concurrent players of any game ever released at 750k.

gingercat02 · 12/10/2025 09:47

Just having breakfast, off to my class shortly.

Need to nip to the retail park to collect DS new trainers and few bits from Boots.
Home for a quick lunch and then my volunteering role for a couple of hours.
Might squeeze in a visit to my mum.
DS is going to Berlin on Thursday so need to make sure he is organised for that.
Tea, strictly results and ready for work.

onlymethen · 12/10/2025 09:49

I win. I’m going to see some new rescue kittens. Not to take home I have dogs but to help care for them till they are old enough to get forever homes.

dontforgetme · 12/10/2025 09:51

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

Just lounging on the sofa with a cuppa whilst scrolling. It’s so foggy here this morning my Ds thought it had snowed on first look. I’m tired this morning, tired and grumpy, which seems to be my new personality! We are heading to the tip this morning then to an aquatics shop to hopefully purchase some new fish and some clean up crew. Will pick dd up from her dad’s on the way home. No idea what’s for dinner as I didn’t do my Asda shop yesterday, I did start it but the absolute chore of meal planning pissed me off so much I abandoned ship, so no usual Sunday delivery today. Will have to nip into a shop for lunch box stuff so will grab something quick and easy. Or dp will cook something as he knows I’m not myself at the moment. Already have that Sunday before work dread and it’s only 9.51am! I have half term off with the kids, I’m counting down the days. Hopefully my tinnitus has died down by then.

Work and school clothes were washed yesterday so least that’s sorted for tomorrow.

Have lovely Sundays all.

Travelfairy · 12/10/2025 09:56

Taking DD to ballet rehearsals for thr Nutcracker, recording an audition tape for her, putting up Halloween Decorations outside, making dinner and going to yoga this evening!

PermanentTemporary · 12/10/2025 09:58

Morning all! Glad you’re making the most of the weekend Lucysmam.

Difficult day yesterday. Got a call from Mum’s nursing home at 930 that she wasn’t at all well, and got there to find her looking and sounding near death. Spent the day there with paramedic, GP sorting out end of life plans and mentally shelving next week. The GP thought she’d only live a few hours. It was hard but not terrible as we long for her to be at peace and it was nice as my brother was visiting from overseas - chats about memories while in with Mum. But from about 5pm she started to turn a corner and at around 8pm it was clear to me that she was going to ‘recover’ or at least carry on living. I’d been all set to stay the night but I was so broken by the day that I went home and fell into bed.

Today we will have a very gentle day - planning to walk to B&Q to look at paint, and maybe buy a wisteria. I have a little bit of work to do. We found a new chickpea curry recipe we want to try as well.

HansHolbein · 12/10/2025 10:01

Had a little tidy up. Bedsheets are in the washing machine, will iron later. Put dinner in the slow cooker. Just about to have a bath. Need to start on the school uniforms. Helping out at youth club later. Weekend goes so fast!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 12/10/2025 10:02

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Welshcakesandtea is it the version with Kurt Russell or the up-to-date one? I am a big fan of the Kurt Russell one. Lucysmam safe journey home.
It's been misty here and now seems cloudy. I was up early and had two coffees and then a cuppa with two slices of toast. I'm currently back in bed as I'm feeling a bit unwell. I will get back up again soon and do an ironing and some cooking. Lentil soup and ratatouille I think. Otherwise I'm taking things easy. Enjoy your day all

Ijwwm · 12/10/2025 10:03

I’ve had a fairly easy start this morning, scrolling on here and cuddling the cats.

Got a small bit of packing to finish, then heading off in the car for an hour’s drive. My sister and her husband are down south for a week in an Airbnb to scope out a few areas as they’re planning on moving back down, and it’s also a milestone birthday for her. We’re meeting up in a lovely thatched country pub for a Sunday roast - first pub roast of the season, I’m really looking forward to it (plus the bonus of no washing up!). Then it’s back to their place, light the fire, nice bottle of red and a good old catch-up. Our mum died last year, after a very short illness, so we both really prioritise being there for each other. I’m staying overnight and will head back home around lunchtime tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

Jollyjoy · 12/10/2025 10:04

Oh that is a hard day, @PermanentTemporary, a gentle day sounds good. Morning all. I had a lovely lie in until 9 which I really needed, but woke quite abruptly with DD2 telling me she didn’t want to go to gymnastics, while I was in the middle of a vivid panic dream about losing my golden retriever out of the boot of the car, whilst on the way late to perform on stage Grin

Now all the kids are out with DH so I’m having a cuppa and contemplating what I can do to be productive. Taking kids swimming later.

Thislittlekitten · 12/10/2025 10:05

Morning everyone.

We are still abroad. I’m having cup of tea with balcony door open. Just so nice enjoying the fresh air.

Both DCs are still asleep which is surprising especially for DS. We seem to be exhausted here all the time and being super lazy 🙈

Plan today is easy lunch. Watch Scotland play football and then food. Hopefully a wee walk or something.

zingally · 12/10/2025 10:11

Not much here today honestly!
Very foggy out the window, which I kind of enjoy when I haven't got to go anywhere! Perfect cozy Sunday weather - very autumnal.
I've got a wash on - bedsheets and my oodie, which silly me dropped chocolate mousse down the front of last night! Bit of a tight squeeze, as my machine isn't very big, but I just rammed it in.

Currently waiting for my semi-annual Tesco delivery between 11 and 12. I enjoy doing the food shop, and am happy to go myself. But 2 or 3 times a year I'll do an online shop to get some of the heavier/bulkier stuff, and stock up on things like tins and bottles of squash. The last time I did an online shop was April, so it was time. I'm also in a MASSIVE hire car this week, after a minor bump in the car a couple of weeks ago, and honestly, trying to minimise trips out in it! Fortunately, it goes back to the rental place tomorrow!

Nothing else happening today. Will print off bits for my private tutoring in a while. The dishwasher needs running as well.
If the fog lifts and it dries up a bit, I had wanted to go out and do a bit of weeding out the front, but I suspect it's going to stay damp all day.

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 12/10/2025 10:13

I had a lie in until 8.30, currently on my second coffee.
Ive cleaned the kitchen and put the washer on. Shower soon then off to pick my granddaughter up for her weekly day with us, I really look forward to Sundays and seeing her.
Tonight will be an easy tea, DH is cooking so not sure what we’re having then it’s making sure DD has her school bag sorted for tomorrow, take GD back home and a glass of wine before bed and work tomorrow

frozendaisy · 12/10/2025 10:14

Morning all
Up with the larks today - on a Sunday - to get eldest into a driving instructors car early - empty roads - he drove back home (OMG) only 2nd lesson - he’s loving it s far

So he is pretending to be a grown up right now

Have to sort out a mountain of broken small electrical items, someone collects to practise repairs, and we are all for more people repairing rather than replacing, so doing a full house sweep.

Youngest still sleeping but he needs it

Washer and dryer going but should be done by lunchtime (shirts and synthetics only quick drying)

Pork crackling roast later, with weekly news magazines and inevitable debate.

Enjoy London.

TralalaTralalee · 12/10/2025 10:16

Watching one kid at their swimming while DH watches the other at hockey - I’m warm and dry whereas he’s in a drizzly field so I think I’ve won for this morning.

Then cooking lunch - today is Italian style grilled lamb chops and veggies.

Then the kids have homework and music practice, I’ll lay out clothes for tomorrow, pack bags and lunches, generally tidy up (cleaner comes tomorrow), compare calendars with DH to make sure we’re organised for the week.

Depending on weather we’ll either go for a walk which includes stopping off to eat cake or we’ll stay home and bake a cake.

Sunday night we usually watch a film and eat pizza. Then baths and bed.

Meanwhile am mostly ignoring my ageing parents who are very angry with me right now, but I’m trying not to let that actually disturb me too much.

Cravey · 12/10/2025 10:18

Good morning all, I’m going to venture out to the garden room which I painted last week and move all furniture round with a good scrub. We have guests staying in there at Xmas so if it’s done now I will only have to give it a quick dust and new bedding when they are here. I’ve been quite unwell and feel as if I’m behind with things.

Peridot1 · 12/10/2025 10:19

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Safe travels home @lucysmam.

@PermanentTemporary - that sounds like a tough day yesterday. A roller coaster of emotions I’m sure.

It’s dull and foggy here so although I should go for a walk I am seriously lacking in motivation. I have been up ages and have already unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and have some washing on. Feeling like a domestic goddess too as cooked croissants and pain au chocolates for breakfast. Waitrose frozen ones. Mainly as I’m trying to run the freezers down and they have been there for months!

Plans for this afternoon is to do more painting on the garden room. I need to wear more layers as got quite cold yesterday and Friday. Hoping to almost get the outside finished today. I might plan a hot bath for afterwards today as it took me ages to warm up yesterday even after a shower.

Dinner is roast chicken and a baked ham and pigs in blankets. DH managed to order the smallest ham known to man a couple of weeks ago so we didn’t have it. Then this week I ended up with the smallest chicken known to man in the Sainsbury’s order. So we are doing both.

We are also trying to plan a holiday somewhere hot over New Year for us and DS who is 24. So doing research today and chatting about that over dinner.

TV and wine and an early night later.

londongirl12 · 12/10/2025 10:20

I’m setting up Lenny, my new robot vacuum (named by DS8). Shouldn’t be as excited as I am 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lifejigsaw · 12/10/2025 10:20

morning all,

I was awake bright and early but red my book in bed till 8.30. Then put two loads of laundry away, finished unpacking my suitcase from my trip, and migrated downstairs.

Have had my first coffee and a bagel on the sofa with some telly, now will do the ironing. Headed out soon for the gym and lunch with a friend, then home to make soup and start packing as I’m moving in a few weeks!

MissMarplesNiece · 12/10/2025 10:35

Morning all. I'm still sat here in my pyjamas. I had a terrible night's sleep and am feeling the effects of it now. I've just eaten a croissant and am about to drink what I think will be my 6th cup of the tea of the morning. No real plans for today, I'm too tired to do anything that requires either physical or mental effort. Maybe I'll write postcards to a couple of postcard penfriends and sort through my fabric stash to see if I've got fabric to make some Halloween bunting. DH will sort out lunch.
