Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm currently laid in dd1's bed, waiting for her to make me a brew! She says she'll go at 9 🙄.

Plan for today is shower and pack - including some of dd's merch to take home and wash for her to bring back next weekend. Then head to Asda for some shopping for her. Depending on time, we'll see if there's time to head to Camden for a mooch of the market before coming back here to eat, grab my case and head to Kings Cross.

Dd2 hasn't done anything all weekend - she has an exam coming up so has spent the weekend prepping for that. Hopefully her dad's made sure she's had a break too!

When I get home, it'll be brew, shower, bed 💤 ready for work in the morning. Unpacking can happen tomorrow apart from my makeup bag and chargers.

What about all of you? 🙂

I win. I’m going to see some new rescue kittens. Not to take home I have dogs but to help care for them till they are old enough to get forever homes.

@onlymethen get pictures and pay the kitten tax please!

I'm a couple of hundred miles from home at DD1's. She passed her driving test last weekend so I drove the little car we got for her down and we are going to the beach and hour away shortly just because we can :)
Then tomorrow I have to catch the train home which feels novel as haven't been cross country on a train for years.
I'm very proud of her as she'd had a horrible few years with an abusive ex and she was too scared to learn to drive so this was a massive milestone.
Now she is in her own place with her own car and life starts again !!!

Then tomorrow I'd better catch up on all the home jobs unless I'm in luck and DH does them (he'd pretty good TBF)

We’re visiting both sets of wrinklies, we’re being the dutiful offspring!

JingsMahBucket · 12/10/2025 10:54

Morning @lucysmam and the Sunday crew. I was off out early this morning as I’m on the bus to Edinburgh so I can meet a friend for lunch. I keep wanting to read my book but the colour changing trees, sun and sky are so pretty right now that I keep staring out the window instead.

After lunch I’ll visit some galleries. I’ll grab something at M & S to eat on the bus home and that’ll be my dinner. Have a good day everyone!

PurpleChrayn · 12/10/2025 11:06

A slow morning here.

We’re reaching the end of a month of festivals in my religion/culture and we’re all exhausted - along with an end to the war in my husband’s country.

So DH and toddler DS are having snacks and playing ij the sukkah (the gazebo/hut we build outside for the festival of Sukkot) while DD5 and I are colouring/MNing respectively, indoors.

Bike ride planned for the afternoon.

Zippedydodah · 12/10/2025 11:38

Good morning @lucysmam & Co, it’s grey, chilly and a meh day here, not helped by me having backache and the grumps 🙄
I managed to hobble around the block with ZDog2, DH took ZDog1 for a longer walk but she refused to go much further than the next estate so he’s in a strop and it’s all apparently my fault 🤷🏼‍♀️ Bloody man. I do hope my back improves soon…. the Valium is helping but apparently I shouldn’t be taking ibuprofen because of my heart failure nor Anadin because I’m on aspirin which leaves paracetamol which does sweet fa for me. I don’t tolerate codeine either 🙄
Dinner’s prepped, chicken chasseur from M&S, roasted parsnips and potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Baked apples again for pudding because they need using up!
The washing is on the line, one more load to hang out then I’m done. I don’t think it’ll dry particularly well but better than using the tumble dryer, it can finish drying on the clothes horse in the living room. I’ll light the wood burner later, it’s barely 12° outside but not too bad inside.
i will now read all the posts on here, and enjoy a coffee in peace and quiet 😊

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm late again because I've been swimming, and we stopped off for McDonald's on the way home. I've put a wash on and finalised the Sainsbury's order, now I think I will have a cup of coffee and will probably watch another episode of Andromeda before going for an afternoon nap.

We are having baked potatoes, cold meat and salad this evening. My retirement pizza party is on Tuesday, and our cleaner is coming tomorrow, so it will be takeaway tomorrow so that we don't muck up our nice clean kitchen! It's going to be a week of naughty food I think, as I'm sure there will be loads of leftovers after my party. Also, we're going to Bella Italia for lunch on Wednesday, and eldest grandson's birthday tea (for which I am making the cake - chocolate orange this time) on Wednesday evening.

Nothing else planned for today. Life is very simple for me.

Well today marks a year since my marriage of 23 years ended so feeling a bit off. My son is away with his dad for a week so I've dropped my 90 year old dad off at his friend's house for the afternoon ( he lives with me due to significant health issues ) gets him out for a bit and gives me a bit of breathing space.

I'm currently sitting in a local garden centre cafe waiting on a toastie then going for a walk round a local loch. Didn't want to sit about the house and get all maudlin which would be very easy to do with the amount of problems I have in my life at the moment

potato08 · 12/10/2025 12:49

Not much going on today.
I'm still recovering from a horrid lurgy so just pottering
Couple of loads of washing done, I've had a shower, I'm reading my new book and lazing around 😬
Dh is in the shed, dd1 is off to gym shortly and dd2 is doing work for her btec.
It's very grey and foggy here - properly autumnal 🍂🍁
I fancy a nice comforting dinner later with potatoes and gravy 😋

Taytocrisps · 12/10/2025 13:11

Good morning everyone. I haven't done much so far. I dropped DD to work for 9.30 and did my shopping in Tesco. Had a browse in TK Maxx and treated myself to a lovely Nutcracker mug (I've a thing for Nutcrackers) and a ceramic container/vase with a Hallowe'en design on it.

Got home and unpacked. I'm still fighting off a head cold, so I'm going to rest up for an hour or two. Then I'll blitz the kitchen and put away some clean clothes.

Going to chill this evening and watch the next episode of 'The Walsh Sisters'. Dinner will be leftovers from yesterday.

Dontcallmescarface · 12/10/2025 14:44

Good afternoon. I'm just having a coffee after a weekend away for DD's wedding .

WhineAndWine1 · 12/10/2025 15:06

Chilled morning here. I made a hazelnut and chocolate chip cake that fell apart so I now have 4 cake jars and 1/4 of the cake that didn’t fall apart. About to make a chicken casserole for dinner with a French stick and pop a washing on. That would have been on sooner but my Dh has a thing about switching the heated dryer off before the washing is dried - we may have had words 😡

Fabulously · 12/10/2025 15:10

So the other day we cooked homemade pizzas and I kind of want to buy the ingredients and do it again today! Can’t believe how much money was wasted in the past on Dominos etc which tastes horrendous in comparison.

I had tomato sauce, cheddar and Parmesan, peppers, cherry tomatoes, truffle oil, pink salt & spinach. It was incredible

Chelsea26 · 12/10/2025 15:59

Afternoon all!

As per some PP I have been a bit domestic goddess today (for me, who’s very slovenly by MN standards anyway!)

While I roasted out BBQ chicken for dinner last night I also roasted a whole plain chicken and deboned it after dinner. I made stock in the slow cooker overnight so got up this morning and roasted some veg to make Thai chicken and roasted veg soup for DP and I for lunches for the week. Half the stock and cooked chicken went in that and half in the fridge for Ramen for dinner later in the week.

I also prepped raspberry and vanilla overnight oats for breakfasts and made a cottage pie for Sunday Lunch today.

Tidied and cleaned the kitchen and then helped DP in the garden for an hour.

We’ve just eaten our cottage pie with roasted carrots and tender stem broccoli and are now flopped on the sofa.

DP will take his two to their mums in half an hour or so and then we’ll have a cosy evening in. We’ve got charcuterie and cheese board stuff if we get peckish later and I might suggest he picks up a bottle of red although that doesn’t really hold with our sober-ish October principles of not drinking for no good reason so we’ll see.

Enjoy the rest of your Sundays!

MiniCoopers · 12/10/2025 16:59

Bacon sandwich for breakfast. Dog and teenager walk on the beach, homework for the poor teen and I’m cooking a gammon roast now. I’ve had a bath and have done a face mask which makes me feel a little alive again for the work week ahead.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 12/10/2025 20:09

Evening folks - very late to the party! Such a busy day! Awake 7ish & made a cuppa for me & DH which we had in bed. It’s DH’s only day off so he took his time but I was clock watching as I started work at 10. VERY busy shift. I reckon it will be like that every weekend now until Christmas plus we start selling fireworks this week which makes me cross. After work, I went to sit with DM whilst DF was at a hospital appointment. Made a cuppa but for some reason it wasn’t very nice. Made up for it by having 3 dark chocolate digestives! Now cooking tea (steak & ale Pieminister pies, double cream mash, carrots, peas & gravy) & half watching the Strictly results. Relations not good with DD16. She’s so hard to parent sometimes! Texted back & forth but hoping we can go out to a National Trust place tomorrow then we can have a chat in the car. Conversations are often easier whilst driving with her. I bought a pass in March but we have only used it once so far. Hope everyone’s had a good day.
