Flu jab

Has anyone had the flu jab this year yet? I’m due to have it today but I’ve had a bit of a cold all week so I’m wondering if I should postpone it, in previous years I’ve reacted a couple of days after I’ve had it with nausea, generally feeling rubbish and I don’t know if having it at the end of a cold would make it worse?!

Had mine a couple of weeks ago and had absolutely no side effects whatsoever, not even a slight ache at the site of the injection. Nothing. Not a sausage.

Had mine yesterday, no ill effects.

Had mine a couple of weeks ago, no side effects bar a slightly sore arm the day after.

Had mine 15 days ago and have felt dreadful since then. Never suffered a reaction in 20 years until this. I postponed it due to suspected covid.
It’s completely wiped me out and I’m only managing the absolute basics - short walk for dog and sandwiches rather than cooking. Sleeping a lot. Good job I’m retired as I wouldn’t manage to go to work.
Bit gutted no one is feeding me 😢

Had mine a month ago, didnt even get a sore arm for once.

They are forcasting a bad flu season, Im glad Ive had it in case it hits as bad as they fear.

I know I should have it done but I just don’t have the time to feel rough after! Is it ok to have it done if you have a bit of a headache? Can you take paracetamol beforehand?

Yes, that should be fine. I had flu and Covid jabs on the same day at the beginning of October and didn’t feel anything other than a very slight tenderness afterwards.

NB I should have checked before having the Covid shot as it cost £95! They didn’t tell me until I’d already had it.

You really should go! I had mine on Wednesday, when I was already feeling a bit rough with a cold (including a headache) - the pharmacist asked whether I had a temperature, so I said no, but that I had cold symptoms. That was fine!

My cold has properly kicked in since (sneezing, runny nose), but that was coming on anyway. Had a bit of a sore arm that was uncomfortable to lie on the first night, but otherwise fine after the jab. I’ve had flu and I definitely don’t want it again!

I had mine last week - just a bit of a sore arm, nothing else. My colleague was the same.

Xmasbaby11 · 14/11/2025 13:48

I had it on Wed and forgot about it instantly. No reaction and I never do. I have it every year.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 14/11/2025 13:54

Had mine a couple of weeks ago, knocked me for six last year but absolutely fine this year, felt absolutely fine.

And if you haven't got time to feel a bit rough @Cloud44 , you really haven't got time for the flu to knock you out of commission for a month.

Cloud44 · 14/11/2025 13:56

I think I’m just a little worried because I have a bit of a headache and a little sniffly but it could just be me trying to put it off again! I was going to try and get a walk in after work

I’ve still not got round to having my flu jab yet, has anyone managed to have it with no reaction after?

I work in a kids ED. Seeing loads of flu A. I had my vax three weeks ago. Was a tiny bit achy that evening but nothing else at all.
