Taking paracetamol doesn’t give you autistic babies but voting for Trump definitely gives you a festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul— all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair.

I thought he was trying to go up the down escalator.

I tried that when I was about two. Luckily the scar now helps me select my right hand 😂

Re Hegseth and his generals - sounds like Trump isn't up to speed but Vance is...

Also from NYT:
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has summoned scores, and perhaps hundreds, of generals and admirals from around the world to meet on short notice next week at a Marine Corps base in Virginia but has not disclosed the reason for the gathering, four U.S. officials said on Thursday.

The unusual directive, which has been filtering its way through military commands, and the undisclosed rationale, has stirred anxiety and concern among the military’s top ranks in a period when Mr. Hegseth has fired several senior officers.

The four U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss confidential meetings, confirmed that the gathering was scheduled for next Tuesday at the base in Quantico, Va.

There are about 800 general-level officers in the armed forces, including 44 at the most senior, four-star level. It was not immediately clear how many of them would be ordered to the gathering, which was reported earlier by The Washington Post.

When asked by reporters at the White House about the summit, President Trump initially appeared unfamiliar with Mr. Hegseth’s plans. He seemed to assume that the defense secretary was bringing foreign military officers in for a meeting.

“I think it is great; let him be friendly with generals and admirals from all over the world,” Mr. Trump replied. “Remember, I’m the president of peace.”

Vice President JD Vance interrupted to clarify that the summit was for U.S. generals and downplayed its significance.
“It’s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the secretary of war and then to the president of the United States are coming to speak with the secretary of war,” Mr. Vance said. “I think it’s odd that you guys have made it into such a big story.”

Hmm, maybe there's going to be some 'corporate away-day' style team-building games to weed out the uncommitted?

Or they want the military to be ready and on hand when they 25th amendment him.

BruceAndNosh · 26/09/2025 05:05

How can the Eejit who rebranded the Department of War call himself the President of Peace?

That would be a turn up for the books.. But would Vance be any better? Might he not be worse?

Trumped up charges.

Igotjelly · 26/09/2025 09:26

I’m seeing reports that (alongside a possible purge) the meeting with generals might be for little more than Hegseth to get a photo op 😡

Come On GIF by HBO Max

Comey is smart, eloquent, I remember watching him testify to Congress, and above all else, brave. He will not be afraid to rip this administration to shreds on the witness stand.

From The Guardian article ⬆️
"Donald Trump has made clear that he intends to turn our justice system into a weapon for punishing and silencing his critics".

That's internally, externally Trump uses tariffs to punish countries that don't fall in line. South Korea wants to introduce stricter online controls but the US is pushing back against it (well his pals just bought TikTok USA) and SK fears increased tariffs, so they're hesitating.
Imagine another country dictating the online safety level for your citizens.

Also:
(South Korean President) Lee also told Time magazine that the $350 billion fund detailed in the agreement could be politically untenable and damaging for the economy under the conditions purportedly proposed by the U.S. administration, even stating that he could be impeached for it.
Korea and the United States reached an agreement in late July that the U.S. would impose a blanket tariff of 15 percent on Korean goods, lower than a previously threatened 25 percent, in exchange for Korea investing $350 billion in the United States. The two sides differ on how that investment should be implemented. The U.S. has reportedly been requesting a payment similar to Japan’s, where Washington can decide how and where Tokyo's $550 billion investment should be used. A similar arrangement would be much more challenging for Korea, which has a smaller foreign reserve than Japan.

And the news today:

tl;dr

100% tariff on pharma...unless you build a manufacturing plant in the US and they'll tell you what, where and when. #american_mafioso

I think Vance would be worse - more of a grip and more of a focus on following his agenda. However, he also wouldn’t be able to keep the MAGAts in thrall to him, as (unbelievably) the orange one does imo. Actually they’d probably require Mrs Kirk or Barron(maybe) to do that job - hoping myself he has no natural successor in his mould that will be as ‘captivating’ but they’re out there looking - Charlie Kirk might have been possibly though not sure if it’s his death that elevated his status. Do not agree, nor am happy, with his being shot if anyone wonders btw.

This month, the first Chinese floating oil facility arrived in Venezuela; it's part of their $1 billion project. I'm even more convinced now that all those troops, planes and warships in the Caribbean Sea are not there because of Venezuelan drug dealers.

Oh, I agree he might be even worse. I just believe that they're counting down to getting rid of Dump and installing Couch Boy. Something of a paranoid conspiracy theory, I acknowledge, but not outside the realm of possibility.

Holding onto nurse, for fear of finding something worse ?

I think ff Vance is as sharp as he was once claimed to be (let's remember how George W played the buffoon card so well) then he will be praying that Trump does not do anything like dying in office that would thrust him into being POTUS. Because that would be the mother of all poison chalices. A role that he would be incapable of filling. Not from any aptitude, knowledge or skill. Merely because it would place him in an impossible position where he'd be totally unable to live up to the expectations that MAGA manaics would have. And we know from Charlie Kirk how MAGA feel about people who don't MAGA hard enough.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 26/09/2025 14:39

Will MAGATs ever turn on him and begin to understand how he is taking them for a ride?
Or should that be the other way round? I don’t know.

Is there any case going to SCOTUS (presumably for the lolz, nobody expects sage judgements anymore) about Congress being ignored here ?

I'd like to say, really no one should listen to me on this because I've descended into cynicism and gloom...

But, I've come to believe that should they manage to gerrymander/intimidate/strip enough voters/declare any and all protests Antifa and therefore arrestable offences/buy up enough media platforms, that they win the mid-terms, they will have pretty effectively have created a post-election America so will no longer care about the MAGAs. Or to be more honest, will no longer need to pretend to care.

I mean, JD is the real darling of the project 2025ers. The orange one is just the medium.

Insurers now get to deny payouts if people take paracetamol.

Not sure how they'd ever prove it. Although we're probably only months away from them instituting some kind of gestation surveillance in every home.

Black market Tylenol, now that's a budding career move.
