Rome - go or cancel?

I've booked a weekend in February next year but for some reason I just can't get excited about it. It just doesn't fill me with excitement as it did before I started looking on street view. It looks... quite run down and just not what I expected. But then sometimes the best trips are the ones that surprise you.

Go or cancel? I'll not lose much £ if I cancel soon...

That says more about you than Rome.

It says she has a different opinion to you.

Run down?? You're kidding, right? It's absolutely amazing! The architecture is out of this world. Everywhere you go , it's like a huge outdoor work of art. It's the most amazing place I've ever been. It's not run down at all. You could be there for a month and not see it all.

Go!!

I mean the Colosseum has seen better days. Some of it has fallen down ffs! 😉

Lol, you're calling your own thread pathetic...
When you ask a question on a public forum, expect all sorts of answers... such is life...
Go. Don't go. Who cares... ?
You asked , people answered...

I think we all tend to romanticise holiday destinations. OP- you’re right in that parts of Rome are indeed scruffy and graffiti covered, and yet there are also some fantastic, historical sights to see. Definitely worth going, but make sure your accommodation is in a decent area (even if you have to pay more), and remember the saying “When in Rome…do as the Romans do” ☺️ If you like eating, the cuisine is great too - another reason to go.

I went last August and it was hotter than hell, plus I wasn’t well but I loved it - the history from my school days really came alive. I went to school in a Roman town in the uk and the Romans were rammed down our throats but I did enjoy this.

You are canceling a holiday to Rome because you saw some graffitti on Streetview. Jesus. Maybe Centreparcs is more your speed.

Book different accommodation?

We went to Paris. Travelling in on train from airport there is graffiti everywhere and it looks like a dump.

our hotel was clean and tidy. Our heads hit the pillow and we were up with the larks and gone again. So much to see.
all major cities are grubby but it’s what you make of it.
