Which London show to see?

We are a family of 4, including 2 teens. Which show show should we go and see?

  1. Come Alive
  2. Starlight Express
  3. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

We all liked The Greatest Showman film and 3 out of the 4 of us really like Harry Potter.

Anyone seen these and have an opinion? Thanks

Harry Potter is seriously amazing and you don’t have to be a mega fan. V expensive though as you are paying for two shows.

Good to hear, wasn't sure if it was worth the price. The cheapest seats have limited legroom it seems so they would not be good as 3 of us are 6 foot tall or above

Do you prefer a musical or a play? Harry Potter is a play, Starlight is a musical and Come Alive is a circus themed "spectacular"

Comefromaway · 22/09/2025 16:06

Are the teens into musical theatre in general. Hadestown is a show that is popular amongst that age group.

We have only ever seen musicals so not sure what to expect from some of the options. I saw Starlight years ago and can hardly remember it, thought it might be good for younger teenager. Have heard mixed reviews for Come Alive and Harry Potter is very expensive so would like to know if it is worth the money.

I know not on your list but I saw back to the future with my 10 and 14 year olds recently and we all loved it

We saw that a few years ago, agree, it was great

I haven’t seen any of the ones on your list. I have seen

The Lion King. Loved it, have seen it about 4 times now. Seats near the aisles are best.

Matilda. Really enjoyed this. Did see it with an 8 year old though.

Wicked. Surprised that I really enjoyed this one.

We are seeing Les Mis this week

Ah well off your list I would say starlight express, saw it a few years ago and enjoyed it, good one for kids & teens

Sausagescanfly · 22/09/2025 18:39

Not Starlight. We saw it and it really doesn't stand up to modern musicals.

SherlockJones · 22/09/2025 18:52

I was just about to say I think we'll go for Starlight as the prices are so much more reasonable and now I'm not sure! I think we'd like Harry Potter the best but it is so expensive and lots of the seats are restricted views etc.

Has anyone seen Come Alive?

Harry Potter is definitely worth the money - i would pay to see it again..

justasmalltownmum · 22/09/2025 20:19

Harry Potter - was too long in my opinion. It just needed to be one show.

not on your list but Hamilton is amazing.

SherlockJones · 22/09/2025 20:30

I forgot about Hamilton. I started to watch it on Disney but couldn't really get into it, so not sure

Harry Potter is great, especially if you’re a fan. It is in an old theatre and the seats are small and very high up. I’m 5’10 and it was okay legroom wise.
I thought Starlight was brilliant in a great fun type of way, the storyline is rubbish but the music and effects are good.
Hadestown was disappointing, my 15 year old was bored.
What about the Play that Goes Wrong? We went this year and 11, 15 and 18 all loved it.

SherlockJones · 22/09/2025 20:55

Will have a look at The Play That Goes Wrong, thanks

Has anyone seen Come Alive?

I've seen Come Alive, I'm not even a big fan of the film and I enjoyed it. It was great for a multi generational show, we took DC and PIL.

There was a family of four, mum dad a boy and girl, sitting next to us who were all obviously fans of the film, they starting singing along and dancing the minute it started and really looked like they were loving every minute.

MyElatedUmberFinch · 22/09/2025 22:49

Hadestown.

Butteredtoast55 · 22/09/2025 22:51

Operation Mincemeat
