Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just finishing off my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & gone back to bed, I've got the second load of towels in (first went on a timer), and I've put braising steak in the slow cooker for tea. Unfortunately, I discovered one of dd2's wireless earphones in the towels I took out of the washer...not sure that'll work any more 😥

We have nothing planned again. I'll finish off the peg dolls I didn't quite finish yesterday, and dd will probably carry on the homework she didn't quite finish.

The rest of the day will mostly be pottering, doing odd jobs, maybe listing some more things on Vinted for me.

This evening, we'll have the braised steak with mash, peas and carrots, probably some Yorkshire puds too 😋. Then, after tidying the kitchen it'll be showers and chill. I'll have my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, followed by removing my old & chipped toe nail polish, then an hour or so with my book before bed, ready for work tomorrow 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning! Hoping all the news from dd1 is good so far @lucysmam.

We were up early to get away for our trip to York - 4 nights. After a very hard 3 weeks at work with super high sick leave and super long hours (I had to get an hour done even this morning) I’m so so looking forward to it. Gorgeous morning.

smallglassbottle · 21/09/2025 09:18

Going to Church ⛪️ 🙏🏻☦️

MinnieMountain · 21/09/2025 09:21

I’m taking the chance to enjoy the quiet when I have a stinky virus because DH has taken DS to hockey.

We’re making chicken pie for lunch. Possibly we’ll do a jigsaw afterwards.

lucysmam · 21/09/2025 09:25

@PermanentTemporary yes, it has, thanks for asking! Apart from the dreadful ovens & elusive flatmates, she's having a ball! She's spending today with two friends she already knew - one lives in Camden. Lectures start tomorrow though so we'll see how enthusiastic she is then 🤣

Making a slow cooker chicken casserole for tonight and trying to get lots of washing done. It is the first day here in about two weeks without rain. Will go for a walk later on and either sort out some cupboards or do some gardening.

tryingtomakesenseof · 21/09/2025 09:30

Morning! Been lying awake in bed since 7ish, scrolling and playing with my 6 year old who has been in and out. About to get up now but feeling rather achey. I need to do some ironing, read through some resources that came through the post for my 8yo and general tidying. DH is taking 8yo for a kick about the park and then we’ll take both boys swimming. After that, 6yo ds has homework to complete which he feels anxious about (first lot this school year) and I’ll be getting ready for the week.

im then leaving around 4:30 to meet my friend to watch the downton abbey movie and for a meal😃 hopefully by the time i get back the boys will be settled or close enough!

Anotherename · 21/09/2025 09:31

Just finished a coffee in bed … next up washing on the line and the next wash load in .
at 1pm I’m going for a cup of tea with my friend… then a trip to the coop for something for tea .

hoping to finish my book I started yesterday, and to start my Christmas cross stitch card this evening.

husband and daughter at work, son is currently plugged into the matrix

peace and quiet

OneLilacEagle · 21/09/2025 09:34

Morning all! Just about to grab a coffee and head out to sit in the garden as it's looking like a fairly nice morning. We need to get our house sorted out today and I have a handful of admin to do so will try to do that next. DH is on call so might be working or not so we'll see. Might head out to a local forest for a picnic with DS. Later will be some Japanese study and a bit of telly. Dinner is going to be a Thai pork dish using one of our many spicery kits. Have a good day all.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2025 09:37

Morning everyone.

Very jealous of @PermanentTemporary’s trip to York. Last time we went, we held birds of prey in the park and saw a seal on a boat trip, so very exciting.

I’m feeling so grateful that I slept well. We’re lounging in bed still- dp has just made a second coffee and I’m having my first ever play on Chat GP to do some meal planning and plan a trip to London next n October.

Later we’re going to have a walk and visit the local artisan market (hope to buy cheese, chilli sauce and some samosas!) then I’m going to get the sewing machine out and see if I can make a top out of the scraps I’ve got left from a recent skirt make.

We’re having bibimbap for dinner, unless we decide to go out for a pub tea.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 21/09/2025 09:42

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a croissant. A lazy start for me as I had a horrendous night's sleep due to pain in my feet and hip. I woke up feeling depressed about it all. However I have my grandsons coming at twelve for a couple of hours so shower soon. I might manage to do the ironing before they arrive. Dinner will be gammon and assorted veg. Enjoy your day all

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 21/09/2025 09:45

Lost a full day yesterday due to the world's worst hangover so today is a busy one! Washings to do etc. Its my eldest birthday on Tuesday so today they get to pick an activity to do and also where to go and eat. Then it will be home for baths and homework. Weekends are not long enough!

Palegreenstars · 21/09/2025 09:51

Morning!

Ive just been for a run which was slow but beautiful. Now sitting reading my book whilst the rest of the family look at screens (after a very energetic weekend).

We’ll go to the supermarket for a few bits to get us through til pay day. I need to start a job application and then later puzzle and a movie. Really looking forward to taking it slow.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2025 09:58

Slight change of plan- we’re going to go out for brunch before the market, so definitely no pub tea!

Its actually not raining- praise Jesus and all his little pixies.

TheChosenTwo · 21/09/2025 10:01

Eek, fingers crossed for the headphone!! DDs AirPods have been through the wash a couple of times and have actually been okay both times - honestly she’s a right wally 😂

Not sure what we’re doing today, still feeling a bit grotty but it’s a lovely sunny day here again so I want to get out and make the most of it - perhaps a nice walk will help. Will have a roast this evening. We’ve had busy weekends since the end of July so actually it’s nice to have no plans and nothing to do.

lucysmam · 21/09/2025 10:06

@TheChosenTwo how did you dry them out?

OP posts:
TheTecknician · 21/09/2025 10:07

I've just pegged out my laundry. Good drying weather today - bright sunshine, blue sky and a breeze - in contrast to yesterday's deluge. Going for a walk to coffee shop and M&S Food in about half an hour.

OP. I see your cats are still kittens!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 21/09/2025 10:23

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Enjoying a lazy Sunday morning so far - worked yesterday so off today. DH & I have had a cuppa in bed. He made me laugh so much that I woke DD16. Can’t say I’m sorry about that though as she often keeps us awake with late night phone calls to her GF. If it carries on, I’m going to stop paying her mobile bill. The weather is looking loads better, with blue sky & sunshine. Might even be able to hang some washing out. We have loads to put away. Keep saying it but I really must try on the pile of clothes on my bedroom stool. More decluttering is on the cards. I put a load of cushion covers somewhere & can’t remember where so will hunt for those as I fancy a change in the lounge. Need to peel some spuds for mash to go with steak & ale pies, peas & gravy. One of my favs. It will be double cream mash. Also need to pop to Asda for a few bits & to cash my Thunderball ticket as I won £10. DH is hoping to go for a bike ride later. DD has no plans. If the weather holds, I might see if she fancies going to an NT property or garden. Oh & I’m going to B & Q to look for stickers to attach my necklace holder to the wall & to Pets at Home for hay. Have a good day everyone 🙂

Supersonix · 21/09/2025 10:24

Morning all! It’s been a busy weekend so far involving yoga class, friends and a comedy night. Quiet one today, pottering and doing life admin. Chicken in red wine tonight I think.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 21/09/2025 10:28

Lounging in the sun in Italy! Flying home later this eve and am a little anxious because we were very delayed getting here and we are under pressure to get home and send SIL babysitter home and get all the school uniforms organised and my work uniform for the morning. It will be a dramatic return to life at 6 30 tomorrow morning but I've had the most amazing weekend in the sun reconnecting with DH. I'm feeling a bit woozy cos i had pancakes with Nutella for breakfast. I'm about to walk to the Mediterranean to jump off rocks about 30m away but need to go to the toilet first then maybe order a cappuccino while drying off. Such bliss 😊

Zippedydodah · 21/09/2025 10:29

Good morning everyone, I am enjoying a big mug of coffee with rye and sourdough toast and marmalade. We took the dogs out for a hilly walk (everywhere’s hilly here!) in glorious sunshine with clear views right across to the edge of the Salisbury Plain, beautiful 😍 There’s a chilly breeze but perfect for walking.
I’ve hung out one load of washing, second one underway, pork and cider casserole in the slow cooker, we’ll have mashed potatoes , the last of the homegrown runner beans and peas with it. I made apple crumble yesterday for pudding.
Little else planned, let’s see what arises!

frozendaisy · 21/09/2025 10:29

Morning all
Just made first round of coffee
We ended up having a fun evening thrashing the teens at Which came first? I say thrashing we were two squares ahead after going around the board twice.
Village walk early afternoon and back to Sunday roast: chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes, swede/carrot mash, steamed cabbage and broccoli, cauliflower cheese, onion gravy and home made yorkshires. Easy! Actually I think it is an easy cook as it’s slow cooking and I have Iggy pop on radio6 keeping everyone company.

Will go through the weekly news subscription magazine with them, we debate the talking points and read out the nice news or crazy news from around the world, as we have boys we have done this for years (obviously when little we had junior news) to help cement in them that their opinions and feelings are valid and they can talk without ridicule. We did the Saturday paper yesterday Sunday is for world round up!

So feed the body and mind day, reset for working school college week ahead. I like Sundays.

DilemmaDelilah · 21/09/2025 10:30

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I've had my morning swim, shower and second breakfast. The washing machine is on. We have absolutely NOTHING planned for today, except for another swim late afternoon.

The weather here is really awful so it's just as well as didn't have a lot of excursions planned. Supper tonight is curry ready meals, which Mr Dilemma will deal with so no cooking for me!

We have a lovely view of a very grey Bideford Bay, which is more than we could see yesterday! In front of our sitting room window there are also telephone lines which seem always to have a selection of birds on them. Right now it is wood pigeons, yesterday it was wagtails and before that, magpies. We also had a couple of pheasant sitting on the wall outside our bedroom windows.

Mr Dilemma has fished out a HUGE pile of DVDs so that I can choose some films to watch - he is suffering from lack of choice in television programmes. He is definitely addicted to the box.

Kim82 · 21/09/2025 10:32

Good morning everyone. I’m currently sitting in Palma airport waiting for my flight back home after a gorgeous week away with my sister. The flight has been delayed but we should be boarding soon - fingers crossed!

Dh is collecting us from the airport and I should be home by late afternoon.

I’ll get home, unpack and order a takeaway for tea before an early night before back to work tomorrow.

I’m glad to hear your dd is settling into uni @lucysmam, I can’t say the same for my dd unfortunately.

She absolutely hates it, says the people are nice and she has made friends but the area isn’t for her so she has put in a transfer request and been accepted at Liverpool uni instead. So I need to ask for Friday afternoon off work so can travel 350 miles, stay in a travelodge overnight, pick her up on Saturday morning and drive 350 miles back home.

We’ve had lots of sobbing phone calls but she’s calmed down now the transfer is sorted and there’s an end in sight for her. It’s been bloody stressful trying to help her and calm her down over the phone when I’ve been in a different country!

lucysmam · 21/09/2025 10:33

@TheTecknician 🤣 they're 18 months, I have no excuse!

OP posts:
TheChosenTwo · 21/09/2025 10:34

@lucysmam i’ll ask her, she does her own washing! As soon as they all turned 12 they were responsible for their laundry 😂
