One of the greats. I loved Indecent Proposal and Sundance.

Iloveyoubut · 16/09/2025 14:35

Oh that’s very sad to hear.

Gotback · 16/09/2025 14:37

Bless him, he seemed like a lovely man. So many great films, a very good life & a peaceful death. Pretty good, Sundance, rest in peace.

DaisyBeatrice · 16/09/2025 14:40

Legend of the screen and also directed some amazing films - Quiz Show, A River Runs Through It and The Horse Whisperer especially.

Silverbirchleaf · 16/09/2025 14:42

A legend. One of those actors that has always been around.

That’s the one they will show, and the Sting I hope, for the soundtrack.

Such an icon. They really don’t make them like that any more, first Terence, now Robert ………..

the Sting I hope, for the soundtrack.

I've just gone down a Scott Joplin rabbit hole. That's my exercises done for the day much more quickly than usual.

That is sad. I loved Robert Redford and had pictures of him on my wall as a teenager.

So many good films. I loved The Way We Were, in fact most of his films really.

For some reason I didn't think of him being that age and it makes me feel old.

That's just it. 80 at most.

I'm 57.

I love Barefoot in the Park.

Unfortunately I cannot stand Raindrops Keep Falling on my head or The Entertainer!!

Cinaferna · 16/09/2025 14:54

He was the perfect Jay Gatsby with Mia Farrow as Daisy Buchanan

Oh it’s doing that thing when you don’t know if the link has worked. Try again. And it loaded the wrong one! I wanted Fig Leaf. Never mind. Just enjoy.

So sad, I loved Robert Redford. The way we were with Barbra Streisand. One of my favourite films of all time. RIP

DH proposed to me after we saw that film.

What a legend. So many fabulous films.

I might have to sob my way through Out of Africa.

Out of Africa is my favourite film. I wanted to be in the plane with Robert Redford, flying over the African plains. RIP

RampantIvy · 16/09/2025 16:40

I loved Out of Africa, both the book and the film.

heartsinvisiblefury · 16/09/2025 16:56

He was beautiful in The Way We Were. Such a handsome man.

PuppyMonkey · 16/09/2025 16:56

Such an icon as an actor and then going on to direct and win Oscars and set up the Sundance Film Festival. A great life!

Itsnottheheatitsthehumidity · 16/09/2025 16:56

I am not of the generation when RR was a young pin-up, but I saw a few of his later films and he remained magnetic on screen in his autumn years. He was also an awesome dresser! He exuded style! He was a historical hottie, for sure!

Yes he was! Fabulous actor and such a handsome man. Glad he had a peaceful death.

Absolutely. Yes the whole thing (including, possibly especially, him) was gorgeous, but he had a sort of underplayed diffidence that is my vision of "book" Gatsby.

Butch and Sundance is my absolute comfort film (I may have forgotten a few words of dialogue)

greengreyblue · 16/09/2025 17:08

Ahhhh loved him in Barefoot in the Park

I'm not prepared to risk it

Streisand, Fonda, Scott Thomas. Some leading ladies there and he acted opposite them but never eclipsed them.

Streisand. that will be sad when she goes.

Agree. Love Barbra Streisand

JohnTheRevelator · 16/09/2025 17:27

Aw so sad to hear this. I loved his film 'All is lost'.

MrsWickfield · 16/09/2025 17:28
