Help me pick some flags

I live on a multicultural town and lots of people are feeling pretty down about the flag shaggers. I'm ordering a bunch of flags for a well-priced bridge. So far, I've got:

  • Union
  • England
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • Northern Ireland
  • UN
  • EU
  • Suffragette

And these to represent the town's makeup:

  • Ukraine
  • Ireland
  • Poland
  • Lithuania
  • Jamaica
  • St Lucia
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Pakistan
  • India
  • Bangladesh
  • Somalia
  • Zimbabwe
  • Nigeria

I need 30 total. Any other good ones?

Does your town have a twin town somewhere?

I didn't think so but just checked and it is! Who knew?

To a PP, I see all sorts of flags up when I go abroad. I can't imagine why raising an England flag would be a problem in any of them.

I've looked for but cannot find a Big Bang Theory flag. I can get one custom made but it's ££ so I won't.

Lol at calling others a flag shaggers then buying 30 yourself.
Give it up. This is not equalising. This is just sad
People of these countries will be weirded out i would think.

I've seen it done in other places and it looks good to have a variety of flags. I think it's a great idea.

If I moved to Japan, I wouldn’t expect a Japanese person to fly a St George flag or a Union Jack to please me. And I’m sure he wouldn’t anyway. But then Japan isn’t dominated by a bullying left who sneer at their country’s history and teach the young to feel ashamed of their own culture.

I wouldn't expect them to. They are allowed to put them up if they want to though. The OP wants to. She isn't being made to. Its nice. Its a nice thing. It doesn't mean she hates you or her country.

5 years maximum prison sentence in Japan for drawing on roundabouts/walls etc though. https://sites.google.com/psu.edu/arth120zstreetart/japan which probably isn't self hatred. But people objecting to red crosses in roundabouts here are self hating according to some. It's a complicated world.

ARTH120Z: Street Art - Japan

Japan is a country that traditionally values clean, orderly spaces. Consequently, graffiti and street art are generally seen as a form of vandalism in Japan -a crime that can land perpetrators up to 5 years in jail. Despite this, street artists are...

How are people sneering at history and how exactly are children being taught to feel ashamed of their own country?

Nope. We’re just ashamed of the Reform voters.

I’m super proud of my country’s multiculturalism thanks.

The Reform voters are shameful.

Imagine thinking 1000,000 people claiming asylum was the biggest problem affecting 69.23 MILLION people.

Perhaps if we stopped selling arms to blow up their countries, they wouldn’t need to come here in the first place.

Very different message though innit.

One flag meant to signal division and exclusion.
30+ flags meant to signal solidarity and inclusion.

The flags haven't all arrived yet but I got started on putting them up today. Let's see how many survive the weekend... I got lots of beeps.

I saw a pirate flag hanging out of someone’s window yesterday 😁🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️😁

Foundationns · 27/09/2025 07:13

This could be a minefield OP. You’ve left out the Middle Eastern countries and Russia presumably without being sure that they are not represented on your town. I can see what you’re trying to do but how about ordering colourful flags or ones that represent interest groups instead?

CatHugger · 27/09/2025 12:35

Interest groups tend to have expensive flags, sadly. The football team's was the most expensive one I bought.

Someone took a nice photo of half the bridge this morning. Mostly positive comments, with a few "what about X country?" ones. On another group though, someone who saw me putting them up yesterday described me as an "older lady" followed up by "old lady". I'm 37!
