Help me pick some flags

I live on a multicultural town and lots of people are feeling pretty down about the flag shaggers. I'm ordering a bunch of flags for a well-priced bridge. So far, I've got:

  • Union
  • England
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • Northern Ireland
  • UN
  • EU
  • Suffragette

And these to represent the town's makeup:

  • Ukraine
  • Ireland
  • Poland
  • Lithuania
  • Jamaica
  • St Lucia
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Pakistan
  • India
  • Bangladesh
  • Somalia
  • Zimbabwe
  • Nigeria

I need 30 total. Any other good ones?

I was referring to the progress pride flag unless pp meant a literal rainbow flag.

The OP said ‘the original one’, so I assume she’s got the classic Pride flag, which is fine.

I think you should get a flag with a cat on, @CatHugger.

So you're allowed to also be a 'flag shagger' but it's only acceptable if they are the flags of other countries?

This is not the the thread for you, stop trying to derail

@CatHugger can you please advise why you’re picking a flag for Northern Ireland that isn’t the one that we compete under at international level and isn’t the one that is generally felt to be the flag of Northern Ireland?

you really would need the Ulster Banner and the Tricolour to represent both sides in NI.

Sorry, trying to get it right but clearly haven't. Such a minefield!

Honestly I find even the way you call them “flag shaggers” as a Northern Ireland person born of a mixed marriage, that makes me really uncomfortable.

Why do you want to do this? What good do you think it will do? What point are you wanting to make?

ExecutiveRubber · 14/09/2025 11:04

They're less than a quid on AliExpress

Our town is very diverse but has a nasty history and undercurrent of racism. This is being stirred up by white men going out at night to paint roundabouts and put up England flags. I'd like to offer a counterpoint by putting up flags celebrating different communities as well as the English/UK flag. I'm aware that NI gets left out quite a bit and want to use a flag that doesn't represent just one "side". As well as the ROI flag - we've got a big Irish community here.

If that’s the case I’d use the Ulster flag (with the red hand) and the Irish flag.

Lol at calling others a flag shaggers then buying 30 yourself.
Give it up. This is not equalising. This is just sad
People of these countries will be weirded out i would think.

Came across this flag recently, and thought it was to do with basketball. Turns out it’s the flag of the Kyrgyzstan republic.

I would add the Star Wars rebel alliance flag, just to see if anyone notices 😂. It signifies hope and renewal.

This and a Klingon Flag

To be fair if you got that you wouldn't need the other 29.
It has came to represent inclusivity of everyone

LlttledrummergirI · 14/09/2025 16:22

I objected to England flags on lampposts and was told by an aggressive male that I was a flag shagger who loved other flags (amongst other comments). The only person mentioning other flags was them.

This is a lovely idea op.

MsMiniver · 14/09/2025 16:24

This is a great idea!

HolidayInCambodia25 · 14/09/2025 16:29

So long as you're going to go live in each of those countries, stick up an English & British flag in public places, & see what reaction that gets OP.

Does your town have a twin town somewhere?

NigelFaragesFakeRoarofLaughter · 14/09/2025 16:51

I would suggest a Union Flag saying "Love Thy Neighbour", but I fear many of the people wailing about "loss of tradition British culture" or "war on Christmas" wouldn't have a scooby of the origin and might misunderstand...
