As a 45+ year old woman, what would you really like for your birthday?

I have 3 birthdays to buy for this month, all school friends. My budget would be £20-25 per present.

One is crafty, one is quiet and likes books and my other friend is sporty.

What nice things have you seen recently?

TIA 😀

Agree with others who said they don’t really want things. Posh things are completely wasted on me. I end up regifting.

A nicely written card and a coffee shop voucher would be just the ticket.

an art gallery near me runs lovely art and craft workshops for all kinds of things like making jewellery or learning to watercolour

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 12/10/2025 13:27

Sporty- adanola socks
quiet - plant
crafty- wreath making kit

crappycrapcrap · 12/10/2025 13:32

warm socks for winter
scarf or blanket
large shower gel or scrub- a treat brand
nail salon voucher
wine maybe or posh chocolate biscuits
a walk, a coffee and a chat

DappledThings · 12/10/2025 13:33

Nothing. I hate presents. If you absolutely insist then a book token.

This thread might give you some ideas:

I would recommend a bottle of Terry's chocolate orange Baileys. On offer in Sainsbury's currently.

Just 24 hours in silence in a darkened room would be grand.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 12/10/2025 13:48

I'm 46 next month and seem to be going against the grain, I have quite the wishlist atm!

liberty beauty advent calendar
leggings / bra or top set from alo
alo socks
plaid mini skirt
slouchy argyle jumper
a topaz / diamond statement ring

appreciate absolutely none of these are within your budget! a voucher for kindle books or a local cafe would always be greatly appreciated too.

CeffylCoch · 12/10/2025 16:02

I took my friend to a rage room where we smashed things up with baseball bats. Loved it 🤣🥊

Is routinely giving presents to friends in their mid-40s a thing? I buy a gift if I am invited to a party. But otherwise I think I'm doing pretty well if I manage to send a message - and feel grateful/appreciated if people remember mine in a similar way!

OneAquaGoose · 12/10/2025 17:14

A decent night’s sleep.

CeffylCoch · 14/10/2025 20:35

I would love a homemade boozy Black Forest gateau or a lemon meringue pie

Fromthelions · 14/10/2025 20:36

The only thing I and any other woman I know wants is a set of reusable lids for the hummus

Dozer · 14/10/2025 20:38

just a card. Or token gift: alcohol, chocolate or flowers. Under a tenner.

Don’t really want any gifts from friends as I don’t want to reciprocate the thought and time and would just feel guilty!
