French soap bought during Covid

During Covid there was a thread on here about bar soap, It was possibly when liquid soap was scarce. Anyhow, I ordered a box of citrus smelling soaps and they were lovely, there was a mixture of normal size bars and smaller ones. Does anyone know which company it might have been? Thanks.

Any more to go on? Package colour? How was it wrapped? Was there any kind of logo?

PersephoneParlormaid · 07/09/2025 07:15

I think they were the Marseille style, with the logo cut into the side of the soap. I chose the citrus box, and there was grapefruit/lemon/orange etc. I think they did other fragrances, not just citrus.

Nesti Dante? Here’s one link in case the packaging looks right but if you google Nesti Dante you’ll find other fragrances and stockists.

Le Petit Marseillais or Le Petit Olivier is sold by Ocado.

Sourisblanche · 07/09/2025 07:19

Le Petit Olivier is verveine citron, lemon verbena and I use this one at home.

I think I’ve found it myself, Chateau du Savon.
Not sure about the fanny soap, but I’m off to spend a fortune now I’ve found it!

Presumably either just a massive co-incidence or on some other thread there is is a highly inappropriate comment.

Where it says edited. Click on that an it shows what it was before. People don't realise it usually end up making a fool of themselves haha.

Funnily enough I started using Nesti Dante soap during Covid due to awful dry skin (which it quickly cured) and I've used their soap ever since. It's wonderful stuff. But it's not a French brand, it's Italian, made in Florence.

I thought it was a mistype and was supposed to say Fancy soap or something -but I see they actually have Fanny soap. No explanation as to what/why though!

efeslight · 07/09/2025 08:48

Nesti Dante soap is great, started buying it after I saw it recommended on here too

PropertyD · 07/09/2025 08:52

In styish countries such as France and Italy they tend to use soap rather than shower gel.

SoScarletItWas · 07/09/2025 09:17

@AcquadiP ah I missed the French bit!

WhereAreMyAirpods · 07/09/2025 09:31

Savon de Marseille. I have ordered some on Ebay, it's about £3 a bar and it's amazing.

MassiveWordSalad · 07/09/2025 11:01

Fanny is a popular girls’ name in France 😁

frenchsoaps.co.uk have lots of nice things.

Fanny is a fairly common girls name in France, or was anyway. There is a well-known actress called Fanny Ardent.

I love French soaps and that looks a great website. I might have to make a purchase!

Cremefraicheeee · 07/09/2025 13:45

I used to sell those French Market soaps op. They are lovely (one point I had about 5,000 in my house!)

The coconut one, the peach one and also the almond one (if you don’t have a nut allergy!) are lovely.

NecklessMumster · 07/09/2025 14:18

I bought Fanny soap for a friend (being childish ) I looked it up, explanation is:
' This lovely French soap is a tribute to Marcel Pagnol's play of the same name. Fanny is the second part of Pagnol's classic romance/drama trilogy,....this soap is all about timeless romance and elegance'.
