How’s Friday Night In Your House?

DH & I are chilling after a busy & in my case quite expensive day ( DD16 meets Primark!) It was good to have quality time with her though & we thrashed out a lot of stuff that’s been going on, especially between her & DH. I bought a Maybelline concealer from Boots. Enjoying an AF cider. We went to Asda earlier & got pizzas for tea (pepperoni, meatballs, peppers & mushrooms). I may have a bar of Galaxy in the fridge. Watching Corrie later & I need to catch up with Emmerdale. Feeling satisfied as I’ve done a fair bit of decluttering over the last few days plus organised some of my jewellery. I can do the rest when my additional Temu storage arrives. Already had an acrylic wall mounted necklace holder, a wooden 2 tier bracelet holder & a velvet ring tray. Makes such a difference to display it all.

Just about to meet my friend at a local sauna and do a few ice plunges while there. I’m in Ireland and saunas are the new donut shop. They are popping up everywhere. Dd17 is working and then heading out to meet her big sister who is home from Australia for a few weeks. DS16 is off the rails atm so not sure wheee he is. When I text him to ask him he just said he was out. I was wfh today and then did a quick shop and brought the dogs for a walk. Might pick up a takeaway on the way home from the sauna.

Got home at a decent hour after work, I often end up leaving late on a Friday.
Pizza and red wine on the go. DH had an ok day at work. Kids had good days at school (we live in Scotland, this is their third week back, I think).
Kids have chosen a Star Wars film to watch.
Happy days!

Arlanymor · 05/09/2025 19:34

I’m cat-sitting two absolutely darlings for two nights from tonight in a gorgeous house in a lovely location. I fed them and have just popped to the village pub to feed myself (oh ok AND water myself!), then when I get back in an hour or so we’re going to have a big floofy cwtch and watch a film together. I am in heaven.

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 05/09/2025 19:34

Dw is watching Emmerdale the Corrie and I'm the avid MNetter scrolling 😁

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 05/09/2025 19:35

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 05/09/2025 19:36

I’ve just shoved a casserole in while dh put the washing out.

both kids are out , so there is mum taxiing to be done later. No wine for me !

TheChosenTwo · 05/09/2025 19:37

It’s going almost perfectly except
ive just sat down to watch the telly and the batteries in the remote are dead 😂
dc3 finally went back to school today, I had a really productive work day, dc1 made me a lovely lunch and just waiting for dc2 to finish her last shift at her job before uni.
Dh is making steak for dinner (duck for dc1 and 2), has made a lovely smelling focaccia and there is good veg sides to go with it all.
Went for a nice walk with dc1 when I’d finished work to make the most of the daylight and the sunshine. All in all a good day and a nice evening ahead. Might even have a glass of wine with my dinner 😋

OhNoNotSusan · 05/09/2025 19:38

going to cook a simple meal and watch A Confession - just plugged by Netflix - and go to bed

OhNoNotSusan · 05/09/2025 19:39

a clip of Duchess of Kent and Jana Navotna brought me to tears

RIP to both of them

Kangarude · 05/09/2025 19:39

It was supposed to be my day off today but had to work a couple of hours this morning. I then had to go to the office at 4 o’clock to sort out some issues. Just got home and poured myself a glass of Prosecco.. DH is out at the pub with his mates. Chill 🍾

ShipshapeShore · 05/09/2025 19:41

Kids having a bit of downtime on youtube and I'm having a well earned wine and a little scroll. I'm a primary TA and the first full week back has been brutal, I always forget how hard it is when they've forgotten everything about school life and everything they've ever learned over the Summer! Im going to put my PJs on in a minute, oh I'm looking forward to taking off my bra 😆

MyAcornWood · 05/09/2025 19:43

Oh very chilled out. DH is t work (as always!) and will be til v late 🚜 so it’s just me and the kids, a nearly 4yo and a 6mo.. well, and the daft dogs, but they slip under the radar, as long as they’re not tripping me up!

Eldest has been showing me all the marvellous ways he can use his magnet tiles to build things ans youngest has been showing me all the marvellous ways she can knock it all down.

Bath and bedtime was pretty easy going, DS is fast asleep and has been for 20 minutes or so and DD is on her second attempt , or I am I suppose, of that dastardly cot transfer. Doesn’t she know I have The OC reruns to watch and a bar of dairy milk to eat?!

Seawolves · 05/09/2025 19:47

I've been out for coffee and a catch up with some fellow widows, it's so lovely to be able to talk to people who just get it.

The small person got home from school then fell asleep in the shower so I got him in his PJs and straight into bed. I am hoping he stays asleep tonight as he's had a few rough nights with pain (he's profoundly disabled and suffers from a really horrible condition that causes him a LOT of pain).

I am now eating some nuts and drinking a gin.

Natsku · 05/09/2025 19:47

We just got home from DS's football matches. There were a lot of injuries in the 2nd match, one poor boy got kicked in the head (accidentally) and DS got hurt somehow and sat out the rest of the match in a rage but cheered up when we stopped at McDonald's on the way home. He's taking a shower now and then I'll put him to bed - its nearly 10pm here and he got up at just gone 6 this morning so he's had a very long day for a 7 year old.

I am very tired and looking forward to going to bed. Its been a very very stressful week and I wish I had a glass of wine right now but didn't think to buy any earlier. Might check if there's a bottle leftover in the Christmas cupboard from last year.

DD is having a sleepover with her best friend/aunty, she left before we got back and I left before she got up this morning so I haven't actually seen her all day and now I won't see her until Sunday most likely

SumUp · 05/09/2025 19:54

Just shared a glass of wine and some chicken stew & dumplings with my youngest and DP. Feeling ready for my bed already!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/09/2025 19:56

I had a really busy week at work (reception class teacher - settling in the new little ones and finishing up some home visits plus a couple of training courses). Went shopping for a new raincoat after work so not long been home. DD is at her boyfriend’s for the weekend so I’ve got the house to myself. Just had an iced coffee whilst mindlessly scrolling, going to make myself a chicken salad for dinner and eat it while watching masterchef. Lovely!

TammyJones · 05/09/2025 19:58

Enjoying my tea , and a drink, after a very busy work day, while watching Netflix- bliss.

hby9628 · 05/09/2025 20:03

Been to the gym, had a shower and used some lovely skincare products. Had my tea and now slumped on the sofa. Was wanting to watch something but been informed the footy is about to start so I think I’ll head to bed and watch something better!

weareallcats · 05/09/2025 20:06

Watching The Shining with my teens. Will probably be an early night - dh is away with our eldest.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 05/09/2025 20:08

We had a nice and very rare day off today, walking the dogs round an arboretum and now we're watching the US Open semi final between Alcaraz and Djokovic. DH is on the Hawkstone lager and I've got a cherry tango. We know how to roll Grin

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 05/09/2025 20:11

Child is fast asleep, I'm watching Creepozoids and eating chocolate, dog is on my knee, it's rather lovely.

ReignOfError · 05/09/2025 20:16

Chilled. Walked to the pub earlier, took a longer walk home. Eaten, now lazing around and about to start a new book, and seriously considering making hot chocolate, because it’s suddenly turned nippy here.

Papyrophile · 05/09/2025 20:17

We're nearly 70, so tonight we have cooked lamb bhuna with spinach, from scratch, and eaten it, and we've had several glasses of wine and a long discussion about the DC and the best way for them to live in the southeast in an expensive area. The dog has had part of the physio's massage programme and is reclining on a sofa.

O0OO · 05/09/2025 20:19

Dh is cooking dinner and I have open university study I need to do this weekend, which I’m massively procrastinating tonight and scrolling mumsnet and ig instead. Grin

Andnowshesatoddler · 05/09/2025 20:25

My husband is out this evening so I am watching some 90 day fiance after a big fat Chinese takeaway (my husband hates Chinese food!) had multiple cups of tea as (personal choice only) I really fancy a glass of prosecco but I won't drink when home alone with my daughter 'just in case' I'm very much the worrier and snuggling with my ageing dog.
