Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & gone back to bed for the morning, and both girls are up already!

Dd1's currently showering & I'm getting in after her. We're off to a By The Sea music festival in Bridlington today, to see a small indie artist we've been following. Dd2 decided to come too! She's just eating breakfast.

Plan is to wander Brid a bit, eat chips on the beach, see the artist, maybe hang around for a couple more, then ice creams on the beach 😋. If there's time there'll be sticks of rock for the train home 🚅. Fingers crossed the weather holds out for us 🤞.

When we get in, it'll be cuppa and bed for me! Probably dd1 too. We were at a very lively gig last night at a skatepark in Manchester. Really fun, but I ache and am tired today 🙈.

What about all of you? 🙂

Just about to leave our resort for koh samui airport to start our journey back to the uk via Bangkok. We have been in Thailand since Aug 16th and utterly miserable at the thought of coming home!!!

socialdilemmawhattodo · 30/08/2025 08:55

Off to London for an exhibition and a Prom. On my own, leaving son with his friends trying for the umpteenth time to get my old car working. I know who is going to have more fun!

Good morning all. I’m on the couch in my pjs with a cup of tea waiting for my Tesco shop to arrive and dh is at work.

We are child free (and have been since Thursday). Dd18 went to Crete with her friends on Wednesday and isn’t due back until Monday and dd11 went away with her friend and their family on Thursday to their caravan and won’t be back until tomorrow.

I am loving the peace and quiet! I had plans to go shopping for some new clothes as most of mine are too big after losing weight but I woke up with a pounding headache, sore throat and body aches so I’ve scrapped that plan and will just remain on the sofa in my comfies for the day instead. I’ve got a mountain of washing to get through and the house needs cleaning (it’s tidy, but not clean) and I also planned on doing that today but it can wait.

We’re having curry for tea tonight then dh is going out and I’m going to read and get an early night and hope I feel better tomorrow.

Hedjwitch · 30/08/2025 09:00

Yoga this morning then to a local concert with friends. Supposed to be outdoors but heavy rain forecast so think it will move indoors.

OnlyYellowRoses · 30/08/2025 09:04

Sitting on my sofa, pumping (again) for the baby. She’s a week old and very sweet but my god she’s hungry 😂 running out of storage containers for the milk so browsing Amazon for those. Quiet weekend after the adjustment of this week and back into newborn trenches.
My older children are spending the weekend with their dad so just planning on a quiet one today.

ShipshapeShore · 30/08/2025 09:09

Not sure yet but I think we need to do something nice after an awful couple of days. We'll have a discussion once everyone is up. I do need to go shopping and tackle the laundry as usual but I can't quite motivate myself! Think I need another tea first.

Love hearing everyone's plans, it seems strangely comforting. A day at the beach sounds absolutely glorious.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/08/2025 09:12

I’ve had an iced coffee on the sofa with the cat in my lap. Psyching myself up to go for a run in the park now, then off to a barbecue this afternoon to celebrate a friends 10th wedding anniversary. Rain is predicted but they have a big gazebo so can hopefully stay dry and still enjoy it! Looking forward to seeing some old friends I’ve not seen in a while.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 30/08/2025 09:14

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Onlyyellowroses congratulations on your new arrival!
I've had two coffees, a cuppa and a slice of toast. The bed is stripped and the whites are in the washing machine. I've had a shower so I'm clean, if not beautiful. Shortly I'm out for second breakfast with a friend to the local garden centre. Dd has asked me to pick up 'magic bubbles' for the boys Christmas stockings. She likes to be organised! I might buy something autumn related to add to my already huge stash. Later on, my brother is coming over to talk about mum's flat. He is buying me out which I'm very happy about but he'll want to bore me rigid about finances. After that, Tesco will deliver. Dinner is a mystery at the moment. Enjoy your day all

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 30/08/2025 09:16

I missed park run and feel a bit guilty, thinking about blitzing the kitchen then cooking up something nice for tonight, other than that I have no plans which is a rare treat. No one else is about so I may just have another cuppa and eat flapjack.

TranceNation · 30/08/2025 09:17

Cleaning the fridge. We returned from our month long holiday to Australia yesterday morning. Came home to find the inside of the fridge covered in mould and other microscopic nasties. I can only presume it's because we switched the fridge off by the plug and ate/chucked all the contents before we left, but crucially I perhaps didn't clean the fridge before we left. It's not ideally what I want to be doing this morning but it needs doing. Other than that we will be lazing around the house this weekend I suspect. Need to do a food shop and the obligatory multiple loads of laundry.

FayKnights · 30/08/2025 09:33

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang

@lucysmam your day sounds blooming lovely! Enjoy.

Currently drinking tea and reading my kindle in bed, but will get up shortly for a shower.
I’m meeting a friend for a late breakfast and then back to get ready for ABBA Voyage, we are going en masse to celebrate my DH’s aunties big birthday. We are not particularly fans, but I’ve heard that it’s fantastic fan or not!

@OnlyYellowRoses - Congratulations on your new arrival ❤️

Have a great day all, see you tomorrow for more updates x

Zippedydodah · 30/08/2025 09:36

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s a dull, dry but damp around the edges, morning here, we’re just having breakfast after taking the dogs out for a good hour. It’s quite muddy on the bridleway but the fields are ok.
I’m enjoying porridge with blueberries, I haven’t had porridge for months, just felt like it. A large mug of cafetière coffee and I’m happy!
The house is clean and tidy, I do have a bit of ironing to do, a Sainsbury’s shop is arriving around 11 and, as it’s supposed to rain all afternoon, I will probably do some more drawing and coloured pencil work later.
I’ve had a very frustrating couple of days trying to link my Bluetooth hearing aids to my new phone, more than once I’ve been reduced to tears of frustration! Eventually it was sorted yesterday, third trip into town in three days 🤬 to the phone shop.
I don’t have any idea what we’re eating today, I get really fed up with cooking, DH says it’s not his job 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 so, as of next week, I’m only cooking if I feel like it, he can sort out his own meals! I’m on strike!

lissie123 · 30/08/2025 09:44

Morning all
Nursing a cup of tea sitting in the garden in my PJs listening to the birds whilst DH is out with his bike mates.
Need to colour my hair at some point as the roots are showing.
Done a small wardrobe clear out early this morning so need to donate some clothes to charity shops this afternoon.
First weekend in ages we’re not really doing anything much. Kids young adults doing their own things so feel I can relax a little.

HelpMeGetThrough · 30/08/2025 09:46

Dropped the eldest to work this morning at 7:30. Just about to have a cup of tea. Was going g to clear part of the garden today to replace the fence, but it’s raining, so that’s off.

Nay get the white paint out and dirt out some marks in the wall in the hall, stairs and landing.

Dropping the youngest to the airport later, for a flight to Stanstead.

Might try and sneak in a couple of beers after picking up the eldest from work later.

Oh, just remembered, I need to fit a new double plug socket in the kitchen!!

Rainbow1235 · 30/08/2025 09:49

PearlsPearl · 30/08/2025 09:51

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang, an ice cream on the beach sounds lovely, and big congratulations to @OnlyYellowRoses! Enjoy that baby bubble.

I've been up and showered and pottering about nervously for a few hours because DS has a trial shift at a charity shop today. He's home educated so this is a way of getting him out of the house one day a week and I SO, so want this to work out for him. Resisting the urge to go in with him and get involved but I won't, he has to do this for himself (extra barrier is he is autistic). He's in the shower now and we're leaving shortly.

I was enjoying a cuppa and taking some time to calm my nerves but then Mr Neighbour started jet washing his bloody car again. He seems to be doing it weekly now instead of fortnightly, it is SO loud I can't hear it all through the house. And the stop-start of it drives me bananas. He mentioned it's his hobby to me once so I try not to hate it but honestly the sound is infuriating.

Will go to Aldi to drop off the dog food pouches to the recycling bin, won't go in as we don't need anything, and then will come home and listen to my audiobook and cross stitch til DS is done and needs picking up.

No plans this afternoon but it's lovely and sunny here in my part of Scotland, so maybe take the dogs to the beach for a walk. DW is currently on a 16km run as part of her training for a half marathon but she'll probably still want to come, knowing her!

Have a good day folks

lovethenights · 30/08/2025 09:53

Going to spend my day knitting and binge watching Jessica Fletcher.

Hectorito · 30/08/2025 09:55

Morning all. We have had a terrible week with a tragic death of DD best friend. She has come home for some TLC from her Mum (me!) so I plan to sit on the sofa next to her and wipe her tears. My Mum is here too for moral support. As wonderful as life is it is also brutal at times. Sorry it wasn't a happy post but there it is x

happytobemrsg · 30/08/2025 09:56

Got home yesterday from a stay in Hunstanton with the DC. Absolutely knackered today & the house is a bit of a mess, things still in bags etc. 4 days left until I’m back at work so I’ll pace myself. Maybe an hour a day to get it sorted.

DH kindly got up with the DC today so I’ve just woken up. I’m going to chuck on something comfy then go & make a coffee (really missed my machine while I was away!). DH will make me a yummy Apple & cinnamon porridge. I’ll have red lentil pasta, tomatoes & borsin for lunch & will try and think of something for dinner (Tesco shop comes late tonight).

Will try & do a calming 1-1 activity with each of the boys today after the madness of day trips last week. Maybe Lego with DS9, map activity book with DS6 & duplo with DS1.

We are decorating the kitchen & downstairs toilet in next couple of weeks so I’ll have fun researching bits for that.

FrankTurnersCat · 30/08/2025 09:59

Morning all, on the sofa with a coffee & 2 fuming cats as it's pouring outside.
Gearing up to get the train to London later for Coldplay tonight. Work trip with the 3 ladies i work with, looking forward to seeing them (we all wfh 99% of the time) but a bit meh about Coldplay. Still, heard it's a fantastic show so we'll see.
First time leaving the teens (17 & 18) overnight so a bit worried about that too.

JennyForeigner · 30/08/2025 10:00

Watched a grown up version of Jurassic Park world last night, watching a heavily redacted narrative version with the kids this morning. It's called 'Lovely dinoscientists go to help the friendly dinosaurs'

We fast forward through anyone getting munched, and somehow the kids haven't noticed that the group of lovely dinoscientists is getting smaller.

Whattheduck · 30/08/2025 10:11

@HectoritoI hope your daughter will be ok, how sad for her 😞

Rowgtfc72 · 30/08/2025 10:15

Morning!
Second cuppa and a quick mumsnet browse before cleaning and gardening.
Quiet one this weekend after a mad one with my brother up from London last weekend and almost an entire Sunday spent at a local pub festival that found this rather large, 53 yr old lady dancing on a table to Nirvana songs 😁
Chilling my bones today.
