How’s Your Saturday Night Shaping Up?

I’m cooking chips to go with the quarter pounders that DH has just grilled (he’ll add cheese slices once the chips are ready). Will serve the burgers in toasted brioche buns with gherkins, mustard & sauce of choice.Oh & cheesy coleslaw although it’s a day out of date. We’re watching The Dambusters. Frozen it whilst DH puts the bunnies to bed. DD16 is in her room. I caught a glimpse of her bottom sheet earlier & my goodness it needs changing! I have no idea how she gets in the bed with all the stuff! She will sort herself out for tea. I’m drinking Kylie AF sparkling wine which is ok but I prefer the rose version. Might watch another film after The Dambusters. I need to catch up with yesterday’s Emmerdale. Also planning some theatre trips.

I'm watching The Twilight Zone, eating Rvyita Thins and making tomato soup.

OhDorWheresthesalad · 23/08/2025 20:57

I'm drinking a glass of Gavi and watching 'Maria' (the Maria Callas film with Angelina Jolie). So far, so good.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 23/08/2025 20:59

Bit dull, actually.
I feel a bit under the weather and think going to have an early night.😴

BCBird · 23/08/2025 21:01

I'm watching a programme about Claridge's and thinking how the other half live.

BasilThePlant · 23/08/2025 21:04

I’m listening to Kanye. Not my choice but DS has gone out leaving it on (drowning out my attempt to read Jane Austen) and to my surprise it is good, maybe brilliant music.
Sad that he has turned out to be such an unwell person with such talent.

what would the Britons of Jane Austen’s era have made of Kanye?

Icecreamhelps · 23/08/2025 21:04

I'm watching casualty. I've not watched a hospital drama since Holby City finished. It's all very fast paced.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 23/08/2025 21:05

Well all the programmes are quizz shows repeats so already know the answers.
Got 10 year old Grandson sleeping over.. we've been playing board games and marble run.
Ive just made his fold out bed up next to my bed ( ASD won't sleep in spare bedroom). We shared a chippy tea early on.
Im now laid in bed with a heat pack on my neck ( cervical spondylosis) and Grandson having a late night and reading... l shall be on my kindle too.

TaborlinTheGreat · 23/08/2025 21:07

Chilling out with dh and ds at one of a succession of AirBnBs in our tour of Iceland. Going whale watching tomorrow! We've had rather meh pasta for dinner and might play a board game in a bit.

Whattheduck · 23/08/2025 21:08

I'm also listening to my ginger tomcat snore whilst curled up beside me.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/08/2025 21:10

Waiting for dd to sleep so I can have some wine and pasta bake 🥰

Hedjwitch · 23/08/2025 21:11

Sprawled on sofa watching " Dinner Ladies". No alcohol...trying to give it up.

opalescent · 23/08/2025 21:13

I’m watching Captain America with DS and DH. Had chippy for tea. DD and her cousin (and bestie!) are giggling upstairs having a sleepover

mamaduckbone · 23/08/2025 21:19

Dh and I are both knackered so there's nothing exciting happening in our house.
We had curry for dinner with both dcs and ds1's gf but they've all gone out now.
I've just had a bath and am now watching Hostage on Netflix.

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 23/08/2025 21:19

Did a 12 hour shift today, currently in my pjs on the sofa with a glass of wine watching The 1% club although it’s mainly background noise. The dachshund is curled up next to me sleeping.
Eldest DD 21 is packing for a trip to see her best friend who lives 400 miles away tomorrow, middle DD 18 is in her room on FaceTime to her friend, youngest DD 9 is watching YouTube and DP is playing a game on his phone while complaining about our other dogs farts (she’s an English bulldog so pretty smelly)

I really enjoy threads like these. I find it quite reassuring to imagine an abundance of people
out there in the world just living and spending their time however they do.

I’ve been going through a period of depression for about 9 months now, and I find it really comforting when I see these posts and am reminded that there are indeed small pleasures to enjoy in life, and that I do still have hope that one day I will feel the enjoyment again ❤️

I’m putting ds to bed (v.late due to danger naps!) and will have to do bedtime for dd next before I’m free for the evening - which won’t leave much evening to do a lot! I borrowed a nice puzzle from my mum that I want to try and do, but have no drive to do anything atm (due to aforementioned depressive episode). I may keep an eye on this post and see if that positive reassurance fosters a little motivation 😊 enjoy your Saturday night all.

I'm also experiencing depression. It's worse in the morning, I feel so low. It's lifted slightly and these posts really help.

TheOpalReader · 23/08/2025 21:29

Just had a lovely curry for tea. Will now try and find a film before a semi early night. It's been a busy day doing boring errands.

One of my ‘comfort’ watches 🥰

afaloren · 23/08/2025 21:30

Just showed DH KPop Demon Hunters. I had already seen and loved it but wasn’t sure what the reaction would be - DH cried! Big softy.

We had Moroccan lamb kebabs for dinner and are now watching 8 out of 10 cats does countdown in our PJs. Rock n’ roll!
