How’s Your Saturday Night Shaping Up?

I’m cooking chips to go with the quarter pounders that DH has just grilled (he’ll add cheese slices once the chips are ready). Will serve the burgers in toasted brioche buns with gherkins, mustard & sauce of choice.Oh & cheesy coleslaw although it’s a day out of date. We’re watching The Dambusters. Frozen it whilst DH puts the bunnies to bed. DD16 is in her room. I caught a glimpse of her bottom sheet earlier & my goodness it needs changing! I have no idea how she gets in the bed with all the stuff! She will sort herself out for tea. I’m drinking Kylie AF sparkling wine which is ok but I prefer the rose version. Might watch another film after The Dambusters. I need to catch up with yesterday’s Emmerdale. Also planning some theatre trips.

I'm currently in an airport trying to get home from my holidays, at the final hours of a 25 hour delay 😞

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/08/2025 21:34

We had a chicken stir fry for dinner and both kids ate it without picking out the veggies. I’m watching This is Us with a glass of wine. Elderly cat is curled up on my lap with the puppy sleeping next to me. DD is on a group chat with friends and DS is playing an online game with friends. Everyone is warm, and fed, and happy.

DryAndBalmy · 23/08/2025 21:36

Fab night!
I made a yummy tagine using tomatoes from the garden.

We watched Department Q, curled up with a cup of tea and the dog and now I’m in bed chilling.

NoNameisGoodEnough · 23/08/2025 21:37

Watching Chappell Roan at Reading and eating a Chinese takeaway.

LizzieSiddal · 23/08/2025 21:38

Dh made pizza and Margaritas, so am feeling slightly woozy. We’ve been planning a few weekend trips, my 60th and my mums birthday, which happen in next few months. Am feeling quite excited.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 23/08/2025 21:39

I worked a few hours this morning and have spent most of the afternoon on the sofa after a busy few weeks and I'm feeling a little drained. I'm looking forward to a long weekend with an empty diary - which doesn't happen often! Had a lovely long FT with DD who is working abroad and caught up on all her news. Now watching Call the Midwife season 11, eating Salt and vinegar chipsticks and maltesers, simultaneously. DH is out doing his hobby.

halfpasteleven · 23/08/2025 21:43

Brought DD6 down to bed at 8.30 and I’m still here now mumsnetting..
Have a hot water bottle on my lower back as it’s v painful today/tonight.
Too cosy to move!
@fox919 @Icecreamhelps one day at a time at your own gentle pace.

I got my nails done today. It cheers me up as I’ve been in hospital for ten days. Managed to get on the bus with my walking stick. Didn’t have the energy to go shopping so I ate a frozen cooked chicken pie. Then lemon drizzle cake. My robot vacuum has given up so I ordered a new one and cleared my bank balance! Ginger cat is asleep. Young cat has just come in and looked abit puzzled when I shut the window after him, I’m giving him 20 minutes to fall asleep on my bed then I will go. I’m watching Fisk on Netflix and it’s quite funny.

twobabiesandapup · 23/08/2025 21:55

Sorry to be a downer but I’m sitting alone after my partner and I have decided to separate but still live under the same roof for the next few months and co-parent for the sake of the children (we have a 20 month old and a seven week old), the stress of two under two has really taken it’s toll on us 😢 hoping we can work things out soon

DoMiraculousThingsWithBroccoli · 23/08/2025 22:01

really good. Have a babysitter so I’m in the pub speaking to 2 firemen about how you shouldn’t charge things over night. Bless them they are lovely. Turns out I have friends who are friends with them so some lovely reminiscing.

Moonflower12 · 23/08/2025 22:05

I’m on one sofa, DH is asleep on the other with our, also asleep, elderly spaniel. Both are snoring slightly. DD is in bed fast asleep after 2 consecutive sleepovers. I’m mumsnetting and drinking Vimto.

I've been cooking flapjack from afar with my 84 year old mum. It's been a bit frought with danger but she was determined to make it and it seems to have turned out alright.

It is a memory for her that she always used to make flapjacks as, "Weekend cake" and we've done it together tonight although at times it felt like being an emergency services call operator or talking down Apollo 13.

She lives in supported living and is quite fine really but she really wanted flapjack tonight. Not that supermarket flapjack. Her flapjack.

She's happy now. We talked for a while about the back of the Scot's porage oats packet, Lyle's golden syrup and converting to fan oven temperatures but the result seems to suit her.

TheDandyLion · 23/08/2025 22:12

Sat in my armchair in my kitchen next to the open window listening to a faint drum beat echo through the valley as the local carnival is on in town today. Fireworks has just finished. It's lovely been listening to lots of people having fun.

Sorry, didn't make it clear. I was on the phone to her.

I'm due on my period in the next day or two so a ball of anxiety. I'm in cancer remission and had a few hopefully none related issues crop up. Waiting for scans and the usual rational part of me can push away the worry but this close to my period is a no hope situation. So I've taken myself off to bed and hopefully be able to switch my mind off soon to get to sleep.

I hope you manage to get at least some rest, if not a whole night of good sleep. I 🤞🙏all your “ niggles” are wholly unrelated, and your next scans come back completely clear…

Sending you 🤞🙏 and 🤗.. Sleep 💤 well. 🤞

Watched football, had Philly cheesesteaks for dinner, tidied up, got in the hot tub and now I’m chilling in bed looking on MN, pretty standard Saturday night for me, don’t like leaving the house because Saturdays are too people-ly and I’m not a people person 😅

Susiesue61 · 23/08/2025 22:50

I've been out with my friend at the music thing in Liverpool. Had a few wines! Now having a domino's, DH and DD have gone to pick up DS2 from cricket (and beers!)) DD got a century herself today so all very cheery here 😊

Imperfectpolly · 23/08/2025 22:51

Just been to the doctors as urgently needed antibiotics for tonsillitis. I've only ever had it twice before and ended up in hospital on iv antibiotics each time 😥

Doctor has told me not to eat any solids as I have a high chance of choking so I've had a yoghurt for my dinner.

honeyfox · 23/08/2025 22:55

I was supposed to be going out for a girly dinner with friends but am laid up with Covid. Ah well, it could be a lot worse.

TokyoSushi · 23/08/2025 22:55

I’ve had a massive headache all day after only 2 gins on a night out last night. I’ve been binge watching the first series of Murder 24/7 this evening, I really should go to bed 🫠

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 23/08/2025 22:59

After 3 days of running backwards and forwards to the hospital as my mum had a heart attack on Wednesday morning. I've got my feet up chilling out. Have watched Casualty, a rerun of Bread and now Match of the Day.

Back to the hospital tomorrow as she needs food. Yesterday was burnt offerings and a jacket potato which she hates.
