Feeling terrible - is there a virus going around?

I never get sick in the summer. But I was feeling a big off on Friday and by yesterday afternoon I could tell something was wrong. Some gastrointestinal symptoms, slightly runny nose, slightly sore throat, but also just feeling really achy all over and exhausted.

anyone else? Could it be a strain of covid?

Yes me i have had it twice in about 8 weeks it is going round my husbands work and he is bringing it home, I have hardly been anywhere to catch it so I am firmly blaming him ! It might be covid last time I was ill it felt "covidy" it is just staring on me I had stomach issue Friday and feel rank today.

NotTilly · 17/08/2025 19:39

Yes. Slightly sore throat last night. Now aching all over and have just been sick. I have a really important meeting tomorrow afternoon, so I am hoping that paracetamol will help!

Meadowflower2023 · 17/08/2025 19:41

My step mum had these symptoms too, she’d had them for two days but felt better today. Day 3. My aunt had something similar last week. I definitely think there is a virus going around. Hope you feel better soon.

I have just gotten over a week of flu like symptoms (worst I have ever had!) literally felt as though I couldn’t hold my head up, terrible headache, congestion, aches and sore throat. I’m thinking it was probably a new Covid strain. Seems to be doing the rounds in my area.

SliceofTosst · 17/08/2025 19:44

I have never had flu but got this two weeks ago. Only just gone. I also got conjunctivitis to boot 😂

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 17/08/2025 19:45

I know three people with Covid currently. Just saying.

Coffeeishot · 17/08/2025 19:46

Dh has had it for 4/5 days he is starting to feel better today,

SomeOfTheTrouble · 17/08/2025 19:46

Loads of them, usually.

Throwingitallaway24 · 17/08/2025 19:47

Covid seems to be rife atm. Loads of people at work have had it and my husband daughter did the other week. I had a nasty headache for a few days while they were unwell but no other symptoms

Coffeeishot · 17/08/2025 19:47

My gums hurt so I think it is in my sinuses.

Newmeagain · 17/08/2025 19:48

Sounds like not just me then!

Sounds like the current Covid strain. It's rife atm.

Comedycook · 17/08/2025 19:49

Yes I'm feeling very unwell with a virus too... aching all over, hot and cold sweats, blocked nose, sore throat...I'm hardly ever ill especially in summer. Feels very weird to be ill when the weather is nice.

ShatParp · 17/08/2025 19:56

I've got the same symptoms! DP had it first but wasn't too bad. I feel like shite! Seems so wrong in the summer...

Angrymum22 · 17/08/2025 19:57

I had a week of headaches last week, I rarely have headaches and defo not two to three times a day. Felt sinusy and just a bit off. DS has had chest infection, all his friends have, so has come to the conclusion he’s had festival flu without going to festival. I have heard that covid is around.
From previous years covid peaks at the end of summer with people returning from abroad having been packed into planes and airports, great for spreading viruses. I usually test positive Aug/Sept although have been mostly symptomless when I have tested positive. I’m an HCP so we were still testing until 2023 and could still get free tests. Had loads left over from routine testing so have tested in the occasions that symptoms are covid-like. I tend to avoid MIL who is elderly and going downhill rapidly if I have symptoms she has COPD so don’t want to get the blame. I didn’t test last week though because it was only headaches.

Yes I flew home from holiday a week ago and suspect I got ill from the plane.

Covid

ChariotofDarkness · 17/08/2025 20:40

I've had the jab and multiple boosters and looks like it didn't stop covid because I've got it...again! They better not try locking us down. seems viruses aren't just a one-time thing

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 17/08/2025 20:41

Yes, SIL works for the NHS and was telling me today that the most recent strain of covid has nasty gastric symptoms. She had it a couple of weeks ago and tested covid positive.

Eta: she said they're testing people they admit with d&v for norovirus and covid atm as it's a toss up which one it is.

NotMoving2Dubai · 17/08/2025 20:47

I must've had all 90 million strains of covid at this point. Viruses do tend to go around! Take time off work if you can and get better soon

Me too! I had it really badly about 2 months ago. Now i saw this this thread it makes me think i might have it again mildly ,i have been extremely tired for no reason, have naps on Friday/Saturday and today, i could hardly manage a 30min walk and i am normally at the gym on my days off, slightly upset stomach too and raised heart rate.

Ladedahlia · 17/08/2025 21:15

Myself and OH have this I think. Headaches, nausea, dizziness. Aching all over, strange pains, aching joints. Absolutely exhausted and can barely stay awake. Itchy skin, feeling like my chest is compressed , clogged up head, sore throat . Runny nose and sneezing. I was wondering if it was hay fever!

Oh no there won't be anymore covid lockdowns it is seen as a conventional illness like a flu,

KiteFlight · 17/08/2025 22:04

I felt similar to you and also had an awful headache and nausea on top. I had some covid tests here so tested because it didn’t feel like a standard bug and I tested positive for covid.

Wolfpinkola · 17/08/2025 22:05

Omg me too. I have had diarrhoea and just exhausted and out of breath walking up and down stairs (a regular runner so thought I might have been over training )
