Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 17/08/2025 09:22

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I've got the window open for some fresh air but haven't ventured outside yet. The washer's on for the towels, so I'll make a coffee and take that out to drink when I've hung them out.

Dd1 was up early for work - she's working Southwell Ladies Day so had to be there early to get the coach from here. The kittens got up with her for breakfast, caused chaos, and have gone back to bed.

Dd2's not up yet - I'm not sure if she's awake. I haven't heard any noise yet. When she gets up, I'll see if there's anything she fancies doing.

I'm going to spend an hour or two on the gig scrap book today. There are photos to print from Fontaines on Friday, and Gracie Abrams at the start of the year. And I'd like to get the first gig stuck in before we see the artist again in a fortnight.

Not sure what's for tea yet. I defrosted chicken, so something chickeny 🤷‍♀️.

After we've tidied up, it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower followed by an hour or two with my book, then a nice early night 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning. It’s already lovely and sunny here today and I’ve hung one load of washing out and put the last load of the weekend in the machine.

There’s just me awake at the moment, everyone else is still sleeping. I’ve been up 2 hours and have just been relaxing on the sofa drinking tea, it’s so lovely and peaceful!

I don’t have much planned for today. I’m taking dd11 to the trampoline park to meet up with my sister and my cousin and their dc who are similar ages then I plan to come home and sit in the sun in the garden for the afternoon. I have half a bottle of wine left over from Friday so I might have a glass of two whilst relaxing in the sun. I do need to clean the bathroom and iron my work clothes for the week though once the washing is dry but they’re the only housework jobs I need to do.

We’re having roast chicken for tea then will have a shower, a chilled evening and an early night ready for another week of work for me and dh.

Morning
Up after about 3hrs sleep. Even though dds 2 and a half hours away in Manchester, she's only 18 and isn't used to big cities and I worry. Now waiting for signs of life, not expecting much, she didn't get back to her hotel till 4am. She's got to drive home yet. She was however at the very, very front for Sam Fender!

Got to walk the dog soon then refusing to move off the sofa as its a day of motor racing.

Think we're off to Southwell racecourse bank holiday Monday for mini day- dh is rebuilding one and is spending the rest of today ripping an engine out of a nissan micra to put in our fluorescent orange mini while I lounge about.😁

Have a good day!

lucysmam · 17/08/2025 09:41

Yay @Rowgtfc72 I hope she had an amazing time? I love a front spot (partly so I can hold onto the barricade and jump about 🤣). Did they get the uber back?

Good morning all I’m up early and on way to a car boot sale as grandson who’s 5 loves them 😂. Lovely and sunny here already . Have a good and safe day 🫶

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 17/08/2025 09:52

Morning everyone! Sunny start here and we’ve just had waffles for breakfast. DH is walking the dog and DS is getting ready to meet a friend to play tennis. I’m reading the paper and need to start making a packing list because we’re going on holiday later this week.

Might pressure wash the decking later if I’m feeling energetic, and need to do a load of washing. I’m a bit under the weather with a cold, so don’t want to do too much but do want to get the jobs sorted before we’re away for a week.

Natsku · 17/08/2025 09:55

I've said hello to the horses this morning, played a bit of foozball with DS and drank several cups of tea. DS is now driving the ride on lawnmower with grandad.
Lunch is cooking on the grill and soon we will eat and then probably start heading home.

An ant nest has been discovered under MIL's couch so we're also trying to deal with that, and OH has fixed their broken light fitting in the hallway.

DD hasn't got up yet but I did call her to wake her up. Going to go to the other house and hurry her up now.

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 17/08/2025 09:55

It's looking like a glorious day here in Central Scotland. Considering a BBQ and paddling pool day. Perhaps some wine. Then it will be baths, hair washes etc for school tomorrow. Looking like a very busy work week ahead for me too. Yayyy.

Natsku · 17/08/2025 09:57

The horses this morning. I love them!

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
Rowgtfc72 · 17/08/2025 09:58

@lucysmam I can only assume so. Messaged her at half 3 and she said go to bed mum were leaving soon! No word since other than just gone 4 to say they were back.
They are 25 mins away from piccadilly according to my tracker so 40 quid uber sounds right. Best western hotels kick out at 11, hope she's up. Video and photo of sam are good though- she'll be buzzing at being up front, shes 6ft tall, built like a barn with flame red hair, once she was at the front noone would be moving her!!

DilemmaDelilah · 17/08/2025 10:01

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Nothing much planned for today. I'm going to do some laundry and make everything look nice for when Mr Dilemma comes home tomorrow, but that's about it!

Yesterday's evening meal was horrible (frozen chicken curry) so I didn't eat much of it. Tonight I think I'm going to have some fish fingers, probably with some peas. In fact - I might even have some for lunch as well. I'm finding it difficult to find things I actually fancy eating so I have no objection to having the same meal more than once day if it's something I actually want to eat.

Tomorrow evening we're going to have a takeaway chicken kebab -with no pitta and lots of salad for me. Pitta is nasty cardboardy stuff in my opinion, and I REALLY like the red cabbage in the salad. Does anyone know what they do to it to make it so delicious?

My Liverpool daughter and Houdini (the 3-yr-old) are coming down to stay for a few days on the 28th, so I need to start the supermarket delivery grocery list for that. We're celebrating her birthday with Family Lunch (a 3 line whip) so I need to get food for that and the ingredients for her birthday cake too. She wants a chocolate orange cake this year.

swampwitch0 · 17/08/2025 10:04

Morning all
Another night of very broken sleep - I'm starting to feel quite unwell with it 😒
It's sunny here today and I'll put a load of towels on later
This afternoon dh and I are off to a NT place to celebrate my friends 40th.
I adore her and want to see her but I'm so, so tired 😫
Luckily, dh is driving!

OneLilacEagle · 17/08/2025 10:10

Good morning all. It's another belter of a day here so I'm trying to decide what to do. Going to put on a wash and have a coffee in the garden before anything else though! DH is going to do a bit of work on the house, I think. So that leave DS and I. Might see if he fancies a swim at the beach. None of us are sleeping at the moment so I am seriously lacking in motivation to do anything! DSis going to makepancakes for breakfast though so that and a few coffees might help me find some omph! A bit of Japanese study later and beer can chicken for dinner. Have a good day.

Hoppinggreen · 17/08/2025 10:16

Blackberry picking with The Teens this morning as soon as they get up (will be banging the drums soon). They did agree to it last night but had had a couple of drinks!
After that I have to go to Liverpool (an hour each way) to visit one of my clients who have just arrived in The UK. I could do it tomorrow as I don't usually work at weekends but DD has an official appointment in Leeds in the morning and we have decided to make a day of it as she is going back to uni soon.
Tonight I need to help DS buy a railcard and then train ticket for a day out to the seaside with his mates on Monday, its a bit of an adventure as they have been on the train before but not changed trains or gone as far. I am not worried though as they are all pretty sensible
Hope everyone has a lovely day

WonsWoo · 17/08/2025 10:21

Morning @lucysmam You have reminded me that I have got concert scrap booking to do but I need to get some photos printed. Twenty One Pilots was my favourite this year.

I am solo today as DH is at work training all day. I am sitting in the garden with my coffee and some fruit. Have been reading and just enjoying the quiet.

Not much planned. I will talk to DD later. She is living abroad currently and we are going to see her in 5 weeks so we are going to do some planning. I will take the dog out after that and may do a drive through maccies. I’m losing weight and have just hit my next stone down so feel it is well deserved.

DH will be home around 5. We’ll have quiche for dinner and DH will probably make his air fryer roast potatoes.

A very chill one for me and looking forward to a short week as we are going away for the bank holiday weekend and have Friday off.

Have a good day all.

lucysmam · 17/08/2025 10:26

@WonsWoo I have zero clue about laying out the scrap book! That's why I haven't started yet. Any tips?

Sitting on my mat waiting for my piyo teacher to turn up (for a 10:30 class!)
No plans for today as yet. Last load of holiday washing on before I came out.
Lovely sunny day here.
She's here, bye 👋

declutteringmymind · 17/08/2025 10:33

Good morning everyone. Woke up and having my morning coffee in my usual lounge spot!
Had a lovely lie in after trouble getting to sleep.
The children are stirring so it will be noisy soon.
Waiting for the supermarket delivery so will put laundry away and tidy up while waiting. Then put a summer dress on and off to the country park to meet some friends. There’s a foodie market there and lots for the children to do.

Then back home to make tacos for dinner, prep dinner for tomorrow, prep lunches, tidy house and early night before work tomorrow.

sounds like most are having a lovely day. Enjoy!

PeonyBulb · 17/08/2025 10:34

Morning @lucysmamand everyone
I’ve got a headache we had a lovely long day yesterday visiting family
Been drinking tea and coffee and put a wash on
I had a job interview last week and they’ve offered it to me which I’m delighted about.

Will also be eating chicken later
DS has a student railcard and he’s saved so much money using it @Hoppinggreenand he’s making good use of the freedom it provides him. Using it right now actually. DD is working her weekend job.

I’m currently rewatching Stranger Things in between cleaning and gardening. I forgot how brilliant Stranger Things is as I haven’t watched it since it first came out

DD has been making a scrap book and bought some more

I think it’s great to mix up photos, tickets, wristbands and anything random from the event. Write some thoughts and memories down to.

you can use tape to create flaps to lift up written words on tracing paper over photos or tickets or anything

frozendaisy · 17/08/2025 10:46

Morning all
just about to make coffee we had extra teens here yesterday in the end they were good company and made toffee popcorn for all
so a day off as there are 5 here tomorrow for something important that can’t be done anywhere else!

H is making coffee

Andnowshesatoddler · 17/08/2025 10:47

A day in the house has been requested by my daughter today so my husband is tackling the wildiness that we call a garden I'm quite excited to have access to all of my washing lines! Might go crazy later and wash everything in the house! Gosh I am old. I love it.

Problem is my daughter is very much in a make believe stage and I am absolutely shit at make believe play after about five minutes.

Simonjt · 17/08/2025 10:52

Good morning, we have some airbnb guests leaving today and the usual cleaner is on holiday so we’ll be doing lots of cleaning, changing beds etc as we have someone else arriving at about 5pm, they’re coming all the way from New Zealand! So that will keep us busy for a while.

If we get chance we’ll go to the park, but apart from that its likely going to be an at home day today.

Glowstickparty · 17/08/2025 11:26

Morning al! Dd has made us all waffles for breakfast which was lovely. We are going for a dog walk, nice and sunny here. Seeing dp later for dinner we may stay in and cook something. Feeling tired after not enough sleep. I need to declutter my brain..

BunnyLover7 · 17/08/2025 11:27

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone.Got to bed really late as binge watched 3 episodes of “One Night”. It’s good & the Australian coastal scenery is stunning. 3 more episodes to go. Woke about 7 & made a cuppa for me & DH. I had a shower & washed my hair after he’d finished in the bathroom. DD16 emerged around 9 to go for a walk. I’ve just made another cuppa & realised I should have bought milk yesterday. Just Right cereal for brekkie which is my current favourite. Quite expensive though. Unloaded/loaded the dishwasher which is still being noisy - DH will pull it away from the wall when it’s finished to check the hoses. There are still pans to go in. Need to do the kitchen surfaces & hang some washing out, including DH’s cycle gear. It’s pretty windy here again so should dry very quickly. Popping over to my folks’ this afternoon to deliver an Anniversary card. Hoping DD will come too. One of my fav teas of bangers, double cream mash, carrots & broccoli with sausage gravy. Ran out of time to watch a film last night so may choose one tonight. Have a great Sunday all 🙂🙂

Zippedydodah · 17/08/2025 11:29

Good morning everyone, I am sitting in my Shed with ZDog2 who’s snoring loudly, enjoying the cool breeze and the sunshine.
We were out before 7 for the first dog walk, it was absolutely glorious walking across the stubble fields glowing in the early morning sun and then through the woods and along an ancient track. How I love my early morning walks ❤️
I’ve had my avocado toast, emptied and sorted the freezer and fridge, tidied the kitchen, done an hour or so’s drawing and now having a cold drink before I think about dinner.
Someone’s coming to put an awning on one side of the Shed, I have blinds but it isn’t enough when the sun moves round to the southwest.
Apart from that absolutely nothing else for today apart from a dog walk later.
Lazy Sunday afternoon here 🙏
