I am in West Yorkshire too, OP, and am loving that it is not too hot. Just a very pleasant 24° here at the moment.

Laiste · 12/08/2025 14:14

South Northants hazy sun and 30 in the garden.

I think a heatwave is quantified by certain temps (depending on area) for a certain number of days running.

I think it's 29 for 3 days here but could be wrong.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 12/08/2025 14:50

It's coming out! 🌞

31 where I am in the S.E.
HATE IT

TakeMe2Insanity · 12/08/2025 14:52

It was 30 in London by 11am. We were outdoors in the sun. Hence have been indoors since then.

Currently 32 degrees where I am in West Sussex. Have given my fan to the cat as she looks totally fed up. Thunderstorms and a chilly 25 tomorrow, and then back up to 29 by Friday 😓

I'm now picturing a cat fanning itself with some relic from the Victorian age. 😂

Yep, just endless grey Sad

I'm further east, at the bottom of the North York Moors. It's grey here too. Warm and muggy and humid, but no sunshine, just thick cloud. If it's going to be cloudy it could at least have the decency to rain and save me running up the garden with fifty million buckets.

Dabberlocks · 12/08/2025 14:56

Isn't it just... well... summer?😎

Jumpthewaves · 12/08/2025 14:58

31 where I am in the SW, fortunately our house is old with stone floors so it's quite pleasant inside at the moment.

OldWomanInACardigan · 12/08/2025 14:59

It's 31 degrees here in East Midlands.

whirlyhead · 12/08/2025 15:01

Spain. Early 40s but I never use air con, just ceiling fans. If you close the curtains/blinds in the daytime and keep the fans on it’s perfectly manageable.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 12/08/2025 15:02

26 in Cumbria and ridiculously humid/sticky.

Notonthestairs · 12/08/2025 15:02

32 degrees in my bit of Herts. Bit too warm for me.

whoboo · 12/08/2025 15:05

25 in the partly cloudy north east. I'm surgically attached to my fan, but it's nice.

whoboo · 12/08/2025 15:07

48% humidity according to my phone.

BBQsauceoneverything · 12/08/2025 15:07

I'm in North Essex and it's awful here. I haven't enjoyed this summer one little bit because of this damn heat. Heatwaves + perimenopause is NOT a good combo. Roll on Autumn, my favourite season. Summer can do one as far as I am concerned.

BestieBunch · 12/08/2025 15:23

27° at our local beach in Poole, Dorset. Absolutely beautiful ☀️

Spanish houses are built differently to UK houses, or is your similar? Do you have outside shutters for example? Or windows to create a through breeze?

Mumofyellows · 12/08/2025 15:30

Very warm here in the south, was on the beach early this morning with the dogs, planned to go for a swim in the sea this afternoon but the roads are gridlocked with day trippers so can't be bothered to fight through the traffic. In the garden instead.

Helloanne1234 · 12/08/2025 15:30

It’s 34 degrees. I’m breastfeeding. We’re sliding off each other.

HelpMeGetThrough · 12/08/2025 15:44

Was 24 degrees at Heathrow at 7am today. Had 29 degrees at Sedgemoor services at about midday and a pleasant 26 at 2:30pm when we got back home to Cornwall.

I was thinking about starting a thread about what causes some people to really suffer with the heat, and some to think it's fabulous. I'm in the former but is it mindset or genetic (i.e., physiology)?

This week (in South East) we will try not to leave our flat unless essential, unfortunately dog has to be taken out for a toilet break 4 times a day but there is a shady communal lawn only 10 feet across the hot pavement, so we make a dash for it and then he's only out 10 minutes for the essentials(!)

I often cancel social events when it's this hot, always worried about how I'll cope with it and both adult DDs the same. But then I am reading on, just for example, BBC website about how people are having such lovely times at the beach and strolling around parks! Funny thing is, we're not like this when abroad (not the dog, he doesn't travel) - Turkey for example was sat beside the pool and felt fine. Sri Lanka - humidity could be unpleasant but heat in general was ok.

Its is me? My comfort zone in UK ends around 22 degrees. That's strolling on the prom weather for me.

Isn't it just... well... summer?😎

I'd say no it isn't just summer, it's summer as we now know it, due to global warming in general.

Inshockandsome · 12/08/2025 16:01

Baking - even the flies have given up! 😂

summerskyblue · 12/08/2025 16:03

South East, Kent coast, really hot and people are enjoying the beach :).
