Mutton dressed as lamb

I overheard my colleagues talking about this the other day.
Saying how a certain hair colour was mutton dressed as lamb.
I have a small amount of this and I love it and do it for myself thank you.
Apart from really high heels on mature ladies or mini skirts I think anything goes tbh.
What do you think looks like mutton dressed as lamb?

I’m 46 and wear what I want. I don’t wear heels because they are implements of torture and live in Vans or Converse with dungarees or skinny jeans (don’t give a toss whether they’re fashionable or not) and band t shirts. And I’m fat. My body, my clothes, my business. Couldn’t give a crap what anyone else is wearing either, there’s no age limit on clothes

Oh, and leftover lamb, Rick Stein’s lamb tagine recipe is very nice, would work equally as well with mutton if slow cooked

Not a nasty person but asked a nasty, ageist question. Have a word with yourself OP.

What a load of ageist crap. I'm wondering, as I'm 67 and wear whatever I want, what the vegan equivalent insult would be?

12 year old whiskey dressed as young wine? ( would help if I could remember the name of the French wine often done young!)

a prune dressed as a plum?

MaggieBsBoat · 06/08/2025 18:25

I remember being 26 and my then DH telling me that I was too old to wear my hair in a plait, like what did I think I look like. That I should rethink it. Chortle.
At that very moment I realised two things, like an epiphany

  1. my DH is an arsehole
  2. society has no business telling a woman what she should wear. Ever.

I had a client at work the other day, and she'd had a purple toner added to her lovely silver grey hair. It looked amazing, I told her so and she said "not bad is it for 82". I've never have guessed her age - she had a pair of cropped jeans on, espadrille sandals and a white stuff tunic top. She looked so stylish.

How lovely to be so ageist and misogynistic.

Apologies as I'm really not a nasty person and I don't gossip either as I believe those that do it are insecure and attempting to make themselves feel better.

Considering a load of dickheads have decided to join you in bringing down women, maybe you should ask for the thread to be deleted?

Or are you not that sorry?

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 06/08/2025 18:39

Sexist ageist shite

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 06/08/2025 18:40

OP ”Hey let’s be ageist and sexist and insulting about older women!”

How about no?

StMarie4me · 06/08/2025 18:55

It’s misogynistic, ageist and rude.

Please do better OP.

I’m a 62 year old professional woman with dyed hair, and undercut and live in band TShirts.

Hmm. I'm just about 60 and I'm wearing a Scooby Doo t shirt today. Does that count?

It's not a nice thing for people to say.

It's not a nice thing for people to say

A reality of life is that people do say it though
