Can't get proper coal tar soap any more and now t gel theraputic has gone too.

If you have psoriasis, what do you use?
Thanks.

I'm back on Polytar (discontinued for a decade and only recently back). I've been getting it via Amazon.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 31/07/2025 14:51

Thank you. I'll give it a try

Polytar is good.

Coal tar soap is still available in Tesco my DH uses the stinky stuff.

The dark coloured one that smell like coal tar soap. Haven't been able to find it in Tesco for a whole so I googled and read its been discontinued and there was a lawsuit in America about it containing an undisclosed ingredient.

My DD is raving about a Philip Kingsley one - better than T-gel apparently!

Pootle40 · 31/07/2025 18:34

Another vote for Polytar. Once under control I use the body shop ginger shampoo for maintenance.

cadburygorilla · 31/07/2025 18:40

I switched to body shop ginger shampoo and it’s totally cleared the psoriasis and it’s still clear even though I’ve been using it for a few years now

Datafan55 · 31/07/2025 18:42

I was thinking I should get some of that the other day, damn!

I use Vosene (std version). It's not perfect but helps a bit.

applegingermint · 31/07/2025 18:47

Capasal worked well for me.

NewDogOwner · 31/07/2025 18:48

I have been using E45 Dry Scalp Shampoo for Very Dry, Itchy and Flaky Scalp. I saw a recommendation somewhere and thought it was worth a try. No more itching or flakes. It does return if I don't use it for a few washes.

thefirstmrsrochester · 31/07/2025 18:48

Plenty of t/gel shampoo in home bargains, and you can get the 2-in-1 in Sainsbury and Waitrose. I didn’t know that it was being discontinued so thanks for the heads up, I will be stocking up.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/07/2025 18:49

Oh, fuck.

Number two all over is sounding like my future now.

phlossy · 31/07/2025 18:50

Nizoral (the treatment one in tiny bottle)

rainbowsandraspberrygin · 31/07/2025 20:29

T gel Original dark one is still on Amazon

Maarva · 31/07/2025 20:51

I really like the T-gel 2 in 1 for itchy flaky scalp. Hope that’s not discontinued.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 01/08/2025 09:18

Just a moment's silence please for my brother's prescribed T-Gel that was the only stuff that ever worked to rectify all my teenage hair dye disasters...

It’s a lie. I tried to buy it and they sent one of the newer shampoos with different active ingredients.

Same here. They sent the clear one.

Same here. I haven't needed Polytar in ages, but this combination was always my go-to. I just use Body Shop Ginger now.

Izzycam · 02/08/2025 15:12

for the past 6 months I have used Nizoral with Ketoconazole (available on Amazon) expensive but worth it in my opinion.

spoonbillstretford · 02/08/2025 15:16

Just wet your hair in the shower, put a few drops of tea tree oil into your hands and massage into your scalp, leave a few minutes. Then use normal shampoo, rinse, conditioner etc. Don't poke your finger in your eyes or get it in your eyes.

spoonbillstretford · 02/08/2025 15:17

I know it's not coal tar but tea tree is great on the scalp.
