Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after a nice lie in. The washer went on while I made my cuppa & the cats have had breakfast and gone back to bed. Dd2's awake but hasn't been down yet but I'm sure she'll be down for breakfast soon.

We haven't really got anything planned for today. I want to wash the towels, after this load, and upload some things to Vinted. I'll probably spend most of the day painting or reading. I fancy a new crochet project but can't settle on one 🤷‍♀️.

I think dd2 will probably do the last of her homework for the summer - she was aiming to finish it off by this weekend, then she has the rest of the holidays free. And dd1 will likely mooch about doing nothing.

We're having gammon for tea - not sure what with yet. Maybe roasties and cauliflower cheese 😋.

After that it's Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower for me, followed by tan, nails, and read for a couple of hours before bed. The girls will stay up later since they have nowhere to be tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning, just put a load of washing on. One DD has gone out, waiting for my other DD to get up. Off out to a vintage fair at the local private school.
Will do the house work, the rest of the washing. Maybe do something in the garden this afternoon.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/07/2025 09:59

I'm about to embark on the very rock and roll project of restocking the bathroom towel shelves and getting rid of threadbare linens!

Good morning, we’re taking our daughter swimming in a few minutes, she has a birthday party this afternoon so she has a very busy day. Tonight we’ll be staying in, we need to do lots of washing and quite a bit of hoovering and dusting, we’re having a bit of work done so the house is dust central.

gingercat02 · 27/07/2025 10:04

Just finishing my coffee, off to my exercise class in a few minutes.
F1 later and then present wrapping for DS birthday tomorrow.
Quiet day, looks cool outside, got all house jobs done yesterday and we're all off tomorrow so may just chill.

MissMarplesNiece · 27/07/2025 10:08

Good morning all. I've just eaten a lovely warm croissant with some cherry jam. When DH has sorted himself out we'll take a trip to the supermarket to stock up on some bits and pieces for the week.

I've not got much else planned - some piano practise, a bit of life admin and a lot of reading. A nice steady day.

chickenfordinner · 27/07/2025 10:09

Morning Lucy’s mam and all! I read yesterday but didn’t get round to posting, wanted to say condolences to @dilemmadelilah having to have your lovely cat PTS. Horrible decision to have to make, but made with love. Hope you’re doing ok.

We went shopping yesterday for remaining holiday things and school bits for DD11 who is starting High school in sept - school are very particular about what shoes they can wear and DD is very particular and we came away with nothing but did get her trainers and a rucksack at least.

today I need to do lots (but currently still in bed 🤣🤣). Lots of work to do and also need to do some sewing of things we want to take on holiday that need adjustments and try on some clothes to see what does and doesn’t fit.

DD and DH going to friends to watch the football later so we are having roast chicken for lunch, which DH will cook.

have a lovely day everyone

lucysmam · 27/07/2025 10:15

@Rowgtfc72 I've just seen your post on yesterday's thread about walking past Jacob Slater in York - that would have put a smile on dd1's face (and mine tbf, I really like Wunderhorse!). We were in York on Friday - up Clifford's Tower & went for a look round Castle Museum. Spiral staircases are not where it's at - I can go up fine...had to properly psych myself up to go down them, which dd2 found hilarious 🙈.

Morning @lucysmam . Yours sounds like a lovely relaxing day.

I’ve not long been up. Having some breakfast while I contemplate what to do. I will go and see my DPs just before lunch and then a walk with the dog. This afternoon I might craft but I also want to do some holiday planning. We’re going to South Korea in September.

I think maybe paella for dinner and then DH and I might watch a film if we can agree on something we both want to watch!

Icantremembermyusername · 27/07/2025 10:18

Good morning!
I’m off for my “scrubby everything” shower in a couple of minutes @lucysmam as I always run out of time on Sunday evening. Early teen DD has promised to help me do a wardrobe reset and I have promised to donate the stuff that doesn’t fit / suit me.
After lunch it’ll be a rain dodging dog walk and hopefully a couple of drinks in the pub with friends as we are all off tomorrow.
Wishing everyone their best Sunday!

Topsy44 · 27/07/2025 10:19

Had a cuppa and toast and doing a bit of double screening. DD is up but hasn’t come down yet.

We’ll watch the football later and we have a tradition of making cup cakes for finals so will have to pop out later to get some eggs and a few other bits.

3 working days left and then I’ve got a break of 3 weeks. DD & I are going away for a week next Monday so will probably spend some time scrolling for a few holiday bits!!

DilemmaDelilah · 27/07/2025 10:19

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I also slept later than usual and I'm not yet up, but will get up after I've done this.

Mr Dilemma has gone to Sainsburys to pick me up another couple of cantaloupe melons. I'm getting through nearly one a day at the moment. It will be interesting to see what else he comes back with, considering there's nothing else on the list and I'm trying to make space in the freezer! I'm sure he will get some grapes, as they are his fruit of choice. I don't mind that as I have to encourage him to eat fruit... and practically force him to eat vegetables!

I'm not sure what we're going to eat this evening... It will be something out of the freezer (unless Mr Dilemma comes back with something last legs). Maybe cold roast chicken, salad and baked potatoes. Mr Dilemma's 'salad' will consist of pickled beetroot, unless he has bought some tomatoes, but I think he will conveniently forget that he actually likes tomatoes when he does the shopping. I would be very happy if he came back with some veg to stir fry, our grocery delivery shopping doesn't arrive until Thursday and I'm craving some fresh veg. We have chicken breasts in the freezer so we're OK for meat, and I have rice and noodles. We have veg in the freezer so I'm not going without, I just want something fresh.

I don't have anything planned for today. My toes are still sore (but getting better) so I won't be doing anything that involves putting on shoes of any kind. I may put the sheets in the wash if I'm feeling energetic. And I will do some knitting. I'm just doing squares of knitting/crochet to make a patchwork blanket for the new spare room. The wool is very fine though, so it's small kneedles/hooks and taking a very long time. I'm mean - and using wool I was given. I'm not a good enough knitter/crocheter to want to spend real money on it, it's just a hobby.

DinoLil · 27/07/2025 10:28

Morning everyone!

Doggo and I are still in bed. Must get up and organised soon but I've no real reason to, so...

I've got a whole list of things to do but I just can't be bothered. I think, when I am up, I'll share a packet of biscuits with doggo and watch rubbish on the TV 😆

PearlsPearl · 27/07/2025 10:28

Morning Sunday gang!

Woke up feeling refreshed enough to jump straight in for an Everything Shower. Feel all silky soft and moisturised now. And glad to have clean hair as I was a greaseball yesterday (I didn't go to aqua where I usually wash it). Had a coffee and now job hunting.

Just woke DC up and forced into the shower. We're off to Ikea and Costco (they're on a road called 'Costkea way' which always makes me smile) to stock up, which is always expensive when the teen comes with us. We've got something to return to Ikea too. Need protein powder and energy drinks for gym mad DS, who likes to buy from the machines there at outrageous prices.

This afternoon I'm making DS's favourite meal; it's a Persian dish called tachin which is delicious but a lot of work, takes about 2 hours but he absolutely loves it and has been a dream this week so deserves it.

I'll be watching the football throughout. Low expectations but excited nonetheless. Come on girls!

FayKnights · 27/07/2025 10:39

Morning Lucysmam and the Sunday gang

I’m currently in the garden with the dogs sprawled at my feet (which sounds a bit Jilly Cooper @LadyMonicaBaddingham) drinking a Costa sachet coffee (not JC at all!)

I found a copy of an untouched Murdle book in a charity shop for 50p yesterday, so working my way through the puzzles,

Apart from that, I just need to walk dogs, sort out the kitchen and do a bit of work ahead of tomorrow.

Have a great day all 😁

dontforgetme · 27/07/2025 10:48

Good morning @lucysmam and all

I missed yesterday’s thread, work and holiday packing was in full force. About to get ready to meet our friends at a new adventure playground that’s opened near us, I’m not actually sure if it’s that new but we’ve never been so it’s new to us! Will grab some lunch whilst there. Then it’s home to more packing and cleaning. Those last few days before going on holiday really stress me out! I wind myself up for no reason other than I’m a total stress head 😂 we fly to Orlando on Wednesday. I have 2 very excited children!

Have lovely Sundays all.

Rainbow1235 · 27/07/2025 10:49

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . I’ve not long got up so first cuppa and washing is on . Popping out for flowers for cemetery then think something easy like sausage and mash for dinner . Went to a garden party yest was lovely but feeling the efforts of too much wine today 😂have a great and safe day 🫶

Markknopflersheadband · 27/07/2025 11:17

Morning all. Got up early to go to an exercise class only to find when I got there it had been cancelled. Luckily was only 5 minutes drive from home. So instead have had a nice walk, done a load of washing and am now making a lamb ragu to have with gnocchi for tea. Will take DD to a playground this afternoon. Have lovely Sundays all.

Thislittlekitten · 27/07/2025 11:19

Morning everyone.

Was up early to pick up DS from a sleepover. DH made a lovely breakfast. DD made a rare morning appearance but is back to bed.

Right now I am contemplating another cup of tea and read of my book. This afternoon will get the dog out for a good walk. We are all going to
pitch in and get our hedges cut too.

Really not sure what to have for tea. It thinking of gammon.

RabbitsRock · 27/07/2025 11:34

@Missj25 we went to The Ring of Kerry for our honeymoon - so beautiful. I would love to go back to Southern Ireland & tour around.

friendsromans · 27/07/2025 11:40

Up at6:40 all ironing done and trying to finish the last bits in the basket, which will no doubt magically refill when I’m not looking. Decanted all the soup I made yesterday into the freezer, made cottage pie and taking one down to my parents soon. Also made lovely Guinness wheaten bread so will cut that up and freeze. DD1 working, DS heading to work about 2, DD2 mooching about the house. Will hoover and clean when I get back from DPs and then stick cottage pie on for early tea. Work is HECTIC atm so trying to get ahead of myself. Luckily cooking is my happy chore so I can while away the hours doing that. Hope everyone had a lovely day 🥰🥰

RabbitsRock · 27/07/2025 11:51

Just having a late breakfast as not long been up. I was awake very early with my usual pain but went back to sleep - kind of wish I hadn’t as experienced some really weird dreams. Coupled with the very sad news I heard yesterday, I’m feeling generally off kilter & unsettled. Definitely been reminded how fragile & precious life is.
DH has put all the clean washing away & I will hang out a few bits, including DH’s cycle gear which needs spinning. He’s put the blessed Tour de France on again which has quite possibly the most annoying tv theme tune ever 🤣🤣 We had a cuppa & bourbons in bed & I’ll make another for me (DH only has one a day then sticks to coffee). Loads of stuff to go in the dishwasher. I got the kitchen looking lovely yesterday & now it’s like a bomb has gone off! Tea is what we were supposed to have yesterday (pasta Norma or something along those lines) which has aubergine & cherry tomatoes in it. I love aubergine. Probably eat after the final as the kick off’s at 5. Hoping the ladies play better initially than they have done in the last couple of games! DD16 has emerged briefly from her pit. She’ll probably go for a walk soon. I should go for a wander myself. Trying to up my daily steps, especially as I still can’t drive. Have a good Sunday everyone 🙂🙂
