Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after a nice lie in. The washer went on while I made my cuppa & the cats have had breakfast and gone back to bed. Dd2's awake but hasn't been down yet but I'm sure she'll be down for breakfast soon.

We haven't really got anything planned for today. I want to wash the towels, after this load, and upload some things to Vinted. I'll probably spend most of the day painting or reading. I fancy a new crochet project but can't settle on one 🤷‍♀️.

I think dd2 will probably do the last of her homework for the summer - she was aiming to finish it off by this weekend, then she has the rest of the holidays free. And dd1 will likely mooch about doing nothing.

We're having gammon for tea - not sure what with yet. Maybe roasties and cauliflower cheese 😋.

After that it's Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower for me, followed by tan, nails, and read for a couple of hours before bed. The girls will stay up later since they have nowhere to be tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Hello everyone.

Lie-in after a great but tiring day in London yesterday. I’ve just had a shower and got dressed.

Going to have some breakfast, then go to DM’s to hang out for a while and pick up the dog who stayed there overnight. We’ll have spaghetti bolognese for lunch while we are there.

Not much planned for the rest of the day which is good because we are both knackered. Won’t need to walk the pup as DM took him for a romp with some friends this morning. We will veg in front of the tv I think! Maybe burgers for tea.

@Missj25 we went to The Ring of Kerry for our honeymoon - so beautiful. I would love to go back to Southern Ireland & tour around.

Hey 👋..
Yes , Kerry is Fab , breathtaking scenery ..
Did you go on Conor Pass ? , ring of Kerry wouldn’t take that in though , it’s beautiful, although can be dangerous , need to be a very confident, capable driver , I wouldn’t drive it myself , I’d be far too nervous , but with someone who is , it’s just amazing !..
PP , you should consider renting a camper van for a week, & tour the South with your husband sometime 😊

Morning all (almost afternoon). I got in at 3am having played Mum cabs as daughter went to her first club night and I was too paranoid to let her get a taxi home. I was woken at 5 by our 3 dogs. Got up at 7 to feed the dogs. Walked them at 8. Have got home cleaned my kitchen, put 2 loads of washing on, been to Lidl and treated myself to a danish pastry which I’m now about to devour with a nice creamy coffee and read the Lidl magazine.

I’ve got my MILs homemade meat pie out the freezer for dinner later and I fully intend to break open a bottle of Chocolate Block wine this evening and have a few chunks of my Lindt dark chocolate and sea salt bar.

I’m very rock and roll!

happy Sunday all xx

We’ve had a very lazy morning, breakfast in bed with DC but have put a load of washing on and, alas, sprayed my bedroom with Frontline after being bitten alive in bed the night before last. The kitten has a monthly treatment but is also, seemingly, flea free. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Will probably sort through some of DCs old clothes today to pass on to friends with smaller children and (fingers crossed!) sort through their inexplicably enormous soft toy collection. I’ve also been inspired by @LadyMonicaBaddinghamto get rid of some of the old bedding.

Then I’m popping the bread maker on for a loaf, and doing the packed lunches for tomorrow. Vacuum, floor mopping, and then hopefully some writing before bed.

Up at6:40 all ironing done and trying to finish the last bits in the basket, which will no doubt magically refill when I’m not looking. Decanted all the soup I made yesterday into the freezer, made cottage pie and taking one down to my parents soon. Also made lovely Guinness wheaten bread so will cut that up and freeze. DD1 working, DS heading to work about 2, DD2 mooching about the house. Will hoover and clean when I get back from DPs and then stick cottage pie on for early tea. Work is HECTIC atm so trying to get ahead of myself. Luckily cooking is my happy chore so I can while away the hours doing that. Hope everyone had a lovely day 🥰🥰

Oooh interested to know more about this bread sounds lush

Good morning all
Had a lie in this morning whilst DH walked the dogs. Had a chat with US family over breakfast before DH drove them to the airport and he’s now waiting for Dd and her friends to arrive and bring them here for something to eat and pick
up clean clothes, before they all head up to Scotland for a camping holiday in the Highlands. Have done several loads of washing, drank lots of tea and done a second dog walk. Not sure what food we are eating. So far taken some bread out of the freezer and checked if we have anything delicious to eat in the fridge. Looks like we have ☺️

Shattered today. Had to drive to London and back yesterday, so a good 700 mile round trip and about 13 hours total driving.

Got up and mowed the front and side grass this morning and trimmed the hedge and a big bush. It decided to start raining, so sacked off doing the side hedge.

Sat down with a cup of tea. Better visit my parents later, not seen them for a month. Ooops!!

troppibambini6 · 27/07/2025 13:06

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else.

im on a glamping trip with 3 other families. Unfortunately one of the other mums hates me and would probably like to drown me in the lake. I’m smiling through gritted teeth for the sake of all the kids and not to make it awkward for the other families but my god I can’t wait to get home.
I’ve purposely not even had a glass of wine as I feel I need to have my wits about me!

Zippedydodah · 27/07/2025 13:26

Good afternoon everyone, couldn’t ‘find’ you earlier 🙄
We were out soon after 7 walking the dogs, a regular route down lanes, through woodland and fields. Loads of blackberries ripening so will have a foraging session soon.
Came back and had my usual avocado toast and coffee then gave my Shed a good vacuum and dust before doing a bit of watercolour painting.
Had cheese and biscuits with homegrown tomatoes for lunch, cba to cook, DH can get himself something when he gets back from his usual Sunday trip to the village for coffee and a gossip with anyone who passes.
I will probably spend the afternoon doing more knitting , like you @DilemmaDelilah i’m using 4 ply sock yarn so it’s growing very slowly.
I’m going to try making Tachin @FayKnights , it sounds utterly delicious! What do you have with it?
Nothing much else planned for today.

Tbf my house is a bit of a shithole atm, Guinness bread would def sort your hangover tho. Dead easy to make too.

Peridot1 · 27/07/2025 13:36

Missed the thread until now. A bit of a slow morning here as we were out at a party yesterday and I was a bit fragile first thing. I had breakfast - cheese on toast and after a few cups of tea I went out for my walk. Knew I’d feel it was hanging over me all day if I didn’t.

Party yesterday was great and I’m a bit achy today from dancing.

Nothing much planned today. I’ve done some washing. Emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. Picked plums and some courgettes from the garden. We have lots of blackberries too from the brambles encroaching from our neighbour. Need to figure out what to do with it all.

Need to plant some herbs I bought during the week. And two agapanthus plants. And do some general tidying in the garden by the shed and greenhouse which is bugging me.

Mediterranean pork chops and roast potatoes for dinner. With some sort of courgette dish. DH won’t be keen but he’s the one who planted them!

It’s a tad pricey but was a gift. Is just beautiful - deep and smooth, probably the nicest red wine I’ve ever tasted
