Vitally important- has anyone seen any Nescafe Toffee Nut sachets back in the shops yet?

I am serious. There has been a shortage of all flavours for ages. I resorted to buying it on Amazon but it’s now £32 a box which I refuse to pay. I am on my last box.

website said to expect stocks back in shops in early August. I am seeing other flavours but not toffee nut yet. I am debating trawling the supermarkets tomorrow.

Be prepared for shrinkflation if they do reappear. They used to be 8 sachets to a box, they've shrunk to 7 to a box.

the only boxes I have seen for the past two months are the sweetened cappuccino. In very short supply. I only like the unsweetened ones but nowhere to be seen.

there used to be to be numerous varieties, heaven knows why Nescafé would withdraw such a popular product,

NigelPonsonbySmallpiece · 25/07/2025 06:39

Yes, I’ve seen a photo of the new boxes and noticed they’re down to 7!

I managed to find a box of unsweetened.

It just got worse.... not only have the pack sizes shrunk but the grams of capuccino powder in each sachet has reduced compared to the old sachets.

so the pack quantity has reduced, the amount of product inside each sachet has reduced and the price at £2.65 is as expensive as Ive seen. They used to be on special order at £1.95

i feel like writing to them and asking them to justify themselves for ripping off their loyal customers but I would probably be ignored! And their sachets used to be a reinforced paper, not they are a ghastly foil that doesn't recycle.

This is annoying! I use these for convenience at work and always keep a supply in. Used to have the latte ones, til they changed the recipe and they suddenly tasted a lot sweeter. So now I buy the unsweetened cappuchino ones (decaf or full caff!) and can't find them anywhere!

NigelPonsonbySmallpiece · 25/07/2025 22:10

Oh no. It’s bad enough reducing the number of sachets but reducing the coffee per sachet is a step too far.

Think I’m going to have to buy a nespresso pod machine

Ah, I thought it was my imagination that they'd gone AWOL, does anyone know why they've been out of stock? (Or is it to swap over to the smaller rip off portions?)

daisychain01 · 26/07/2025 06:01

That was exactly my thought, yet another cynical ploy, clear out the old stock from all shelves, leave the shelves empty then drip feed the new shrunk product.

they must think their customers were born yesterday. talk about take a good product and trash it!

this thread has spurred me into action. I've written a detailed complaint and told them they aren't fooling anyone and that they are damaging their brand reputation. If I can be bothered I may try to find the cappuccino on Tescos website and leave a review if it's on there.

complaining does work - MOMA porridge sachets were similarly eroded, they removed the key ingredients, milk powder which made the product like wallpaper paste. Then they stopped selling them and I could only find the single use plastic pots which are wasteful, expensive and appalling for the environment, I wrote to them in strong terms and hey presto the sachets are back, all ingredients present and a reasonable price (£3.50 for 5 sachets - 70p a breakfast!). I am a professional complainer / thorn in the side of consumer goods companies!

daisychain01 · 26/07/2025 06:13

I've left reviews on Tesco online grocery website.

lets see if they accept my truthful comments 😎

@daisychain01 well done. I’m going to have to rev myself up to complain as well. Who wants weak coffee? This will really affect the drink.

It’s not like making a chocolate bar smaller and you just have less of the item. If you put less coffee in a standard size mug of boiling water the flavour of the finished product will be different!

yes, tasted like Christmas

NigelPonsonbySmallpiece · 26/07/2025 16:56

In other sad news I drank my very last teabag of old recipe Twinings Chai today. They changed the recipe about 6 years ago and I bought online every box I could find nationwide. Lasted six years so had a good run 😆

You'd be bristling at the reply I received! I was!

The only thing I was impressed about was that the customer service person replied to me within an hour of me sending them the email.

lots of waffle about how they had to make the very difficult decision to adjust the formulation due to difficulties in sourcing the commodities. Daylight robbery in other words.

And even more waffle about the non-eco friendly sachet. She suggested I should make a trip to Waitrose or Coop as they accept the sachets for recycling. Sigh.

daisychain01 · 26/07/2025 22:03

They offered me a voucher for a Kitkat drink.

urgh, no thanks!

NigelPonsonbySmallpiece · 26/07/2025 22:03

Difficulty sourcing it? What dried milk powder and coffee? WTF? 😆

I’ve been struggling to get the Nescafe cappuccinos on my online shop. Frequently out of stock.
DH bought me a small tin of Kenko cappuccino from B & M and it was pretty good.

I might have to start investigating other options. M&S do toffee nut latte sachets but they cost more. Or I could try a coffee sachet and see if I can get syrup? Or wean myself onto non flavoured lattes. Or maybe stop drinking crap sachets.

I do actually have a bean to cup machine but it’s so much hassle. It’s needed descaling for six months and I can’t work out what to do! 😁

Starbucks do Toffee Nut Latte sachets but only at Christmas. Comes in a red box

tomorrowchild · 27/07/2025 04:49

I have a sachet every day on my lunch break at work. I work 4 days so I was annoyed the boxes went from 8 to 7 as a box would last me 2 weeks! It’s interesting to read about the size of the sachets though, for the past week I’ve been saying that they tasted watery! How much has the sachet shrunk down by? I might have to buy a smaller cup to avoid “over watering” 😂

daisychain01 · 27/07/2025 06:34

@tomorrowchild the sachets have reduced by 8.39% which makes a big difference.

I had one of the original sachets and when I compared it to the new size by folding over the sachet to where the product ends it was so noticeable.

ive tried other brands such as the Kenco unsweetened and it really tastes strongly of powdered milk, whereas the Nescafé one didn't. I personally find all the flavoured varieties sickly and processed, whereas the unsweetened cappuccino was as close to an actual fresh cappuccino as you could get.

daisychain01 · 27/07/2025 06:41

In case anyone would like to take it up with Nescafé they have an online form which is staffed so you wouldn't be wasting your time. I reckon they've been receiving complains since Shrinkflation-gate because the person who replied must have copy pasted their response. Good, I hope they get loads of objections!

https://www.nescafe.com/gb/contact-us

The points you may wish to include are

  1. the product sachet has reduced from 15.5 g to 14.2 g which is an 8.39% reduction
  2. the sachets per box has also reduced from 8 to 7
  3. the price can vary from £2.10:to £2.65 so the product has shrunk but the price has not
  4. the sachets changed to foil from paper based, which is inconvenient to recycle through council run curbside recycling. Having to recycle at a supermarket that you don't shop at eg Waitrose or Coop means more people will throw the sachet into regular refuse going into landfill.

I think her point was that all their commodities / ingredients have shot up in price so it is making the product more expensive to manufacture. That's true enough but I think those of us who enjoy the product formula as it was, would most likely be willing to pay an extra 50p per pack than drink something that tastes watery and unpleasant because they've shrunk it down, the next thing they'll do is remove more of the coffee so it is just frothy milk 😡

tomorrowchild · 27/07/2025 06:48

@daisychain01thats good to know thankyou! That’s really sneaky of them to not only drop a sachet from the box but also reduce the powder in the packs! I’ll have to attempt to reduce the water by 8% to make up for that. I thought I was going mad and even changed from my usual caramel latte for the mocha to get a stronger flavour but was still underwhelming. At least I now know why!
