I don't tend to read or reply to anything after 10pm

Depends who it is!

Colleague- 10pm

Friend- 11pm

Husband- anytime

I assume people have their phones on silent and will only pick up when convenient

Lougle · 19/07/2025 22:48

I have Do not Disturb on my phone from 10pm. I will look at WhatsApp if I'm up, but only reply to important/interesting messages after 10pm.

LilacPony · 19/07/2025 22:48

I assume people have their phones set to not wake them for non-emergencies. I reply when I have the moment, at any time.

MeringueOutang · 19/07/2025 22:48

10pm unless I've talked in advance to the person about phone notifications and know for a fact they use Do Not Disturb/whatever the Android version is called overnight. I also don't message before 9am on weekends or 8am on weekdays.

Becauseicanthelpyoucantbebothered · 19/07/2025 22:49

Kids anytime.
Friends/other family 10pm.
I don't text after 9pm unless they've text me.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/07/2025 22:52

I have my phone on silent 24/7, and notifications off on every app, so generally just read/reply when I see messages. (One of my friends I know goes to bed very early, so I don’t ever message her after 9pm in case she’s not on silent.)

Searchingforananswer2023 · 19/07/2025 22:53

10pm, even if I've read the message

Hadalifeonce · 19/07/2025 22:55

I will read them at anytime. If I can't sleep, I will read them in the early hours.
I generally reply within 12 hours or so

Drivingthevengabus · 19/07/2025 22:55

Completely depends who it is, surely?

Generally not after 10ish though.

NuffSaidSam · 19/07/2025 22:57

As and when. I don't have any time limits.

I don't message my Mum early or late as I know she has her phone on loud right next to her head when she's in bed! Everyone else I expect to self-regulate their DND settings.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 19/07/2025 22:58

I'd replay at 3am if I was awake and saw it I have mine silent I assume everyone else does?!

suki1964 · 19/07/2025 23:01

My phone is off for all notifications/ calls 9pm to 9am

I have family on favourites who can bypass calling

That's it .

Most of my family reside in Australia , we manage without waking each other in the middle of the night

JustAMum35 · 19/07/2025 23:01

Completely depends who it is and what it’s for.

I wouldn’t initiate contact with most people after 10pm unless it was urgent, other than a few people who I know are up late.

JDM625 · 19/07/2025 23:02

I've had to set my phone on silent at night due to a work colleague using the work whats app group to tell us her local pool changed their opening hours on a Sunday- at 5:30am!!!! 😡 F off- its not an emergency and I don't care!!! Thank you SO much for waking me and now I can't get back to sleep.

Work what's app- I don't reply after 8pm or before about 8/9am- unless its urgent
Friends/family- I'm generally up later than them, but I wouldn't text after about 8pm because I know they sleep early!

TokyoSushi · 19/07/2025 23:06

Depends who it is.

I always read if not in bed (I really try not to look at my phone in bed) I’d reply to a message if sent, but wouldn’t spontaneously message anybody outside my immediate household after about 9:30pm.

Me too. I don’t have audible/haptic notifications on for WhatsApp anyway, or for emails -I look at them when it suits me

WhamFantastic · 19/07/2025 23:35

As a general rule I don’t text after 10pm or before 7am.

Some nights I or my DH might be on call for work so need phone not on silent as may be phoned by any number of people (can’t work it with a select list of numbers who bypass the DND). Very annoying and rage inducing if on those nights if someone texts on a school WhatsApp group at 1am! Too many school / work / friend groups to silence all for one night.

MsNevermore · 19/07/2025 23:37

I live in a different time zone to majority of my friends and family. So I put my phone on “do not disturb” when I go to bed….which happens to be when most of them are just getting up for the day.
So when I wake up, and reply to texts etc it’s mid-afternoon their time and I still apologise profusely that I’m not ignoring everyone….i was simply asleep 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂

cant you just turn off all WhatsApp notifications or does that get used for legitimate work messages too?

Often will be phoned and / or messaged on WhatsApp OOH so would worry that wouldn’t allow calls and follow up messages through.

namestevalian · 20/07/2025 00:31

Anytime that I am awake 😆

JustAnInchident · 20/07/2025 00:33

Right now, any time at all, I’m most ‘productive’ (if it can be called that!) during my baby’s night feeds, lots gets responses then T the moment. I assume if people don’t want to be disturbed, they put their phones on silent or, indeed, on do not disturb.

SquishedMallow · 20/07/2025 00:34

Probably wouldn't reply after 10pm latest

Tyel · 20/07/2025 00:36

Anytime that I’m awake, I wouldnt not reply because of the time.
