Gifts for a 13 year old girl

She is the only teenager/ child around that age that I know!

Could people let me know what their 13 year olds are into - what’s cool? She’s American and I’d love to take her some fun gifts when we visit in a few weeks.

Do you know if she likes soft toys? Lots of young teenagers do and if she does then Jellycats are the latest coveted range! Despite the name they aren’t just cats- it’s a full range of soft animals and also other items called ‘amuseables’. Look it up.

lostinabook · 19/07/2025 13:16

My 13 year old likes (a selection)
Squish mallows (stool!)
Sweets
Skincare (I know) Inc face masks, lip atuff
Sol de Janeiro (and the Primark lovely cheap dupes)
Make up (basics and sets go down well)
Bracelets!
She is MT obsessed so anything 5ondonwith that
Hair stuff like conditioner or curl creams etc

I’m familiar with Jellycats! I usually buy them for babies or toddlers but actually there is a specific animal I could get for her which is a really nice idea, thanks.

Thank you so much for this list!

She’s a dancer and I know she wears makeup for that as well as for eg school dances, so I have no reservations about getting some makeup or cosmetics for her. Any particular brands?

I will definitely get some Sol de Janiero stuff, it looks good :)

What does “MT obsessed” mean? I’ve googled but am none the wiser!

bring her something you cant get in the US
mabey snacks and stuff. my dd is 14 and loves cute stationary and notebooks that always seems to be a good option

alizee21g · 19/07/2025 14:04

My 13 year old like Jellycats but amuseables rather than animals like croissant (I know!). Coveted makeup these days is P.Louise. Nail wraps (pre- cured gel nail stickers). She's into art so quality alcohol markers like Copics or Ohuhu, Posca pens. Other interests are games and Formula 1 so for her birthday we got her limited edition Lando Norris t shirt. Depends on interest really but I don't think you can go wrong with P.Louise lip stuff for any teenage girl these days😅

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 19/07/2025 14:31

@imisscashmereinstead of buying her make up take her out to Sephora and let her chose what she likes / wants. They have way more choice than we do.

She’s really into art too, takes an advanced art class at school. I’m going to google those brands and also P. Louise. Thanks so much!

I second P Louise. Comes beautifully packaged and often lots of great deals on l their website

Since you say she is a dancer, maybe some Pineapple Dance Studio merch? Hoodie/cropped t-shirt.

A lot of the suggestions are really bringing coal to Newcastle if she is American.

She does Jazz, tap and ballet (just got her point shoes), but I imagine she will still like the clothes(?) - I can ask her mum.

I am not too worried about bringing coal to Newcastle if it’s stuff she’ll like. If it’s novel and foreign, that’s cool too - either way.

There is no point in having most of this to America. She can go to Target for most of it or Ulta
and it’ll probably be cheaper.

silverstorm101 · 19/07/2025 15:28

Jellycat are a great idea but what about a hamlet of British things? Biscuits, sweets she can't get over there. Things like Cadburys hot chocolate sashes, maybe something from Lush?

Thanks, I appreciate your comments - they have an Ulta very close by. I’m not going to bring a giant bag of cosmetics they can buy down the road. I’ll probably take a couple of small things I like the look of though…

Nice ideas, thank you!

my biggest problem now is going to be choosing what to go for….!

alizee21g · 19/07/2025 16:16

Oh Lush is a fab idea! I always bring Lush bath bombs for my Goddaughter.

Klozza · 19/07/2025 17:17

Teenagers seem obsessed with those Labubu things at the moment, they’re huge on TikTok, so that might be an idea, I think you get a random one in the box too so it’s a bit of a surprise

Forgottenmyphone · 19/07/2025 19:06

Noodoll, Mad Beauty, Flamingo Candles, Skinnydip, Mallows Beauty, Coconut Lane, Nails Inc, Anatomicals are all British and not sold in the US. Honeybalm is European and only sold online in the US. Ditto for Inuwet.

My nearly 11 year old loves them, def not just for babies and toddlers!

Emmz1510 · 19/07/2025 19:33

Another vote for PLouise!

FingleGlen · 19/07/2025 19:39

Lottie Brooks books as they're diaries of a similar age girl in the UK?
