She is the only teenager/ child around that age that I know!

Could people let me know what their 13 year olds are into - what’s cool? She’s American and I’d love to take her some fun gifts when we visit in a few weeks.

Thank you but I’ve googled them and they look horrible! 😂

Oh I completely agree, they’re horrid and I don’t see the appeal, but they’re hugely fashionable and viral right now 😂

Most things you can get in the US. Jelly cats are a good idea……do they do one that’s called her name? Some thing with London written in it, I think Brandy Melville do a sweatshirt and that’s a brand 13 year olds are wearing at the moment.

She does Jazz, tap and ballet (just got her point shoes), but I imagine she will still like the clothes(?) - I can ask her mum.

I am not too worried about bringing coal to Newcastle if it’s stuff she’ll like. If it’s novel and foreign, that’s cool too - either way.

How about some Royal Ballet merchandise? That would be typically 'British' too. I wouldn't exactly say the stuff is cheap, but it might fit the bill. Search for RBO shop. (The Royal Opera House has been re-named Royal Ballet & Opera).

Do ask your host/ess or someone who knows the 13yr old. They can be v. different at that age; some are still very young but others are already jaded and everything in between. Agree with PPs that lots of make-up and dance gear is available in US.
I have similar aged children of friends in the US I have brought UK themed souvenirs.
key chain with Big Ben or similar (https://shop.towerbridge.org.uk/collections/keyrings?srsltid=AfmBOoqai3hVuk8cEW3OAzvstkiQy-9Xb-YsrwbvEZ99QLYIkuj8W-bw) They can be hooked on to anything and then it's @imisscashmere brought me this from England)
union jack folding umbrella - two themes in one! - sometimes it even rains in the US
mini Paddington Bear/Peter Rabbit of some kind if she's into stuffed animals (as the Americans call them)
Harry Potter merch
UK themed mug (doubles as a pen/pencil cup on desk)
RAD has some pointe shoe keyrings and some point shoe earrings (https://www.radenterprises.co.uk/collections/gifts-accessories)
If she likes sweets, some UK sweets like haribo or maomam or percy pig ears.

Keyrings

The perfect companion for your keys or as a bag charm. Why not pair these with a Tower Bridge or London inspired purse or bag.

Does she have any favorite artists? You can get her something from their official store(s), like accessories or clothes. My niece is 14 and she loves everything about Taylor Swift. She wasn't able to see the Eras tour last year, but we've got her some clothing items and a friendship bracelet making kit (it's a thing for Swift's fans to make and trade bracelets).
If there is an artist or a band she likes, you can look for something like that or make something yourself, like a t-shirt with a print or a DIY calendar with pictures of her favorite singer.
Besides, there are websites like Red bubble where you can get fanmade items related to popular artists, movies and anime. Might be worth looking at as well.

My niece also loves washable hairsprays that make her hair colorful for a week or two, maybe getting one of these would be a good idea as well.
